€400 is the upper limit to what I'd be willing to pay for the console itself on day one, and that's only if the Direct in April shows an incredible lineup of exclusives at launch. Any more than that and I'd just wait for some discount, like I did for the OG Switch.
I could see myself possibly getting convinced to spend €420-430 if it's for a bundle with a huge 1st party game I know I'd buy anyway, like Mario Odyssey 2, and it includes a Switch Online subscription.

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”

$700 but that’s the max I am willing to pay for anything that isn’t a GPU or CPU. But I am also holding out for the Zelda edition so it could be a few years.

It's hard to set a max price when we STILL haven't really see a showcase of switch 2 performance and games, only a brief subdued mario kart clip.
The less I need a playstation or xbox to play new modern games, the more I can justfiy for a switch 2.
As it is, I'm expecting $400 USD, but a showcase of performance & games could make $450+ more agreeable. The waiting for April 2nd continues. (granted, I'm still planning to preorder ASAP.)
Around $650AU is where I'm thinking currently and I say this having spent $900AU on a Steam Deck OLED last year. So it could be more and, IMO, still be an ok value. But more than $600 becomes increasingly hard to justify
Really, whether I queue up for it at that price is the open question more than price itself. At least personally. Both because Steam Deck scratches that itch of "higher performance portable" somewhat already but also because I have bills and other expenses that are a higher priority. If it's under $550 somehow miraculously then day 1 regardless. If it's over $650 I wait
Honestly but, it'll be somewhere between so it's going to come down to launch games
I really don't need one. I'm probably be a late adopter for the Lite. I bought the PS4 eight years after launch. And I only got a Switch last year to play Tears of the Kingdom (which I didn't like). Still don't have a PS5. So yeah I'll get a Switch 2 Lite in about three years. Hopefully for $200 max.
What are the reasons you wouldn’t pay the equivalent or more than the PS5 or Xbox Series X?
All I see is people wanting it to be the equivalent price of a seven year old console without taking into consideration inflation and changes in the market.
Well the original Switch came out midway through the PS4 lifecycle, it was less powerful and cheaper than the PS4. The Switch 2 is coming out midway through the PS5 lifecycle, it'll be less powerful than a base PS5 so all things being equal I'd expect it to be cheaper than one.
I would pay £500, but that's not what Nintendo will be considering. The question should be what is a parent willing to pay for a Christmas gift in Dec 2025?
