(haven't posted a discussion in awhile. I hope I'm posting this in the right place)
OK, here's my deal. I wanted to lose a bit of weight during Fall/Winter. 4 months later, my current progress on that is... 210 hours in Pokémon Legends Z-A and remembering I weigh more than Mega Mewtwo X. In other words, I achieved nothing.
And since I already play a lot of games, I figured it's about time I fix that problem by combining the 2. So I wanted to ask; what's the best fitness game I can get on Switch 2 at the moment?
I'm debating between 3 games at the moment; RingFit Adventure, Fitness Boxing 3, and Fitness Boxing feat. Hatsune Miku.
I know RingFit only works with the Switch 1 Joy-Cons due to the Ring-Con, which, thankfully I still have my Switch 1 around so I can probably use the Joy-Con from that, but I heard something about being able to use the Leg Strap with the Left Joy-Con 2, considering that it's just a Leg Strap, so I'll opt for that if it works.
I'm also considering the Fitness Boxing Games, because I used to play a lot of Gold's Gym: Cardio Workout (aka My Fitness Coach: Cardio Workout) on the Wii in 2023, and I remember having a great time working out with it. And since the Fitness Boxing games are pretty much that in HD, I can see myself enjoying those just as much. Especially the Hatsune Miku version. Because I adore her.
I'm not too well versed on other Fitness games on Switch, aside from Switch Sports, which I can't really see myself working up a sweat with. If anybody else has any other recommendations, I'd love to hear them and give them a try. And honestly, I'm willing to try anything because mark my words by the end of this year I WILL weigh less than a Mega Mewtwo X. (or, at the very least, not surpass Pupitar- am I allowed to mention Pokémon this much in a non Pokémon Forum discussion?)
For losing weight, other than adjusting your diet, you want cardio. That's jogging/walking/bicycling, etc.
Anything you do standing in front of a TV will not burn off calories and shed pounds as well as those activities.
But Ring Fit Adventure is by far the most lauded fitness game on Switch. I have 4 pair of NS1 Joy-Con, so I'm not sure how or if NS2 Joy-Con work with it.
Fitness Boxing (Hatsune Miku) is something I only played a bit because my morning is now super packed so I can't do it anymore... but when I was doing it, it can be pretty tiring and burny if you REALLY follow the exercises.
If you try to just move slightly, of course there's a way to cheat it, but if you just move as much as you can while following the movement... I think it's pretty fun! Like, listening to vocaloid songs while moving? Yeah, fun thing I think it regularly goes to 35 bucks on sale too if you are willing to wait
Fitness Circuit is my favorite Switch workout game; it has a wide variety of exercises. It's colorful and varied but only marginally game-ified so Ring Fit is a better option if you want to feel like you are playing a game. I've played one of the Fitness Boxing games as well, but I was never able to get into it as much as Fitness Circuit or Ring Fit.
Note that Fitness Circuit is less well known, but there used to be a chunk of people on this site playing it. It was bizarrely made by Spike Chunsoft, the dev which made Danganronpa as well as some of of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games. Fitness Circuit is on good sales relatively often at least in the NA eShop. Obviously Ring Fit is more expensive since it comes with a ring (and is a Nintendo game).
I have Ring Fit Adventure and Fitness Boxing feat. Hatsune Miku. I'd recommend Ring Fit first. Both can make you sweat but Ring Fit's varied exercises might be a better fit if your goal is to lose weight. I lost 5 kg back when I played it and haven't gained them back.
Ring Fit's story mode is quite fun with its RPG combat and occasional minigames. You can lower/raise the difficulty to your liking as you go. There's also a rhythm game that's separate from the story mode. There's no vocaloid music there but it does have some Nintendo tunes.
