I'm looking to flesh out my library a little bit and having never owned a Switch 1 am a bit behind with what's good and can be got for a reasonable price on the Eshop, I have just recently bought Bioshock Infinite complete edition as I thought it was a good price and I've always enjoyed the game so anything along those lines would be good.
@Dhaladog Blaster Master Zero is a good one to check out if you enjoy Metroidvanias, that was one of my favorite Switch games when I first played it way back when. It's normally $10 on the eShop, and has two sequels if you like what you've played.
"Give yourself the gift of being joyfully you."
Favorite game: Super Mario 3D World
AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
I think hollow knight is the one most people will direct you towards. $15 USD for what many consider one of the best metroidvanias of all time. I bought Nier Automata for $20 USD on sale which was a pretty great price
I'm a big fan of GRIS, Loop Hero, Disc Room, Olija, Katana Zero, Death's Door, The Talos Principle and Broforce. Other stuff like Enter the Gungeon is highly rated, too.
@bixente Even the ones which aren't on sale right now often go on good sales.
Your list skipped some games I love - Cult of the Lamb, Downwell, Neva, The Messenger, Pepper Grinder, Plucky Squire, Return to Monkey Island, Gunbrella.
They do have a high percentage of amazing games. Granted, a couple of those are much better on Switch 2.
Towerfall if you want some couch co op. Gato Robato, stardew valley, Celeste (same developer as towerfall), slay the spire, gosh there are sooo many good games on switch 1
@Dhaladog If you're into beat 'em ups, you should really get Streets of Rage 4. I've put in 200 hours easy, it's so good. It's currently on sale in the European eshop, € 8,74 instead of € 24,99, until August 3rd (just 6 days)!
Started out pretty late in the Switch1 lifecycle, so I had 6 years of games to get to grips with and I went the following route: browsed the metacritic top 100 (later top 200 and later later went by taste + score + recommendations on NL or articles like "what are you playing this weekend") to pick and choose / read up on what would interest me in that list. I then soon discovered dekudeals.com which tracks sales (you can even see graphs for when and by how much games went on sale before) and lets you create (wish)lists and set alarms for when games you listed go on sale. That way you can get a lot of bang for your buck!
@Dhaladog Also, Metroid Prime Remastered is an amazing game and on sale: € 29,99 instead of € 39,99. The only downside would be that you might be less blown away by the upcoming Prime 4 (or it prepares and hypes you up for it).
@Dhaladog Final recommendation from me: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. An amazing metroidvania, really good. And currently on sale for € 15,99 instead of 39,99 (again, for just 6 more days).
If you're at all into strategy RPGs, Triangle Strategy is an absolute gem of a game and still exclusive to the Switch as far as I know.
I have almost 200 hours in that puppy. It's one of those games like modern Fire Emblems where you have multiple endings that are wildly different, and the gameplay itself is a combo of Emblem and old school FF Tactics (it still matters what direction your characters face, some attacks/spells have cast times, etc.).
It's just so dang good and gives a ton of content. The story is incredible, too.
