So, the Switch 2 edition for this game just came out...they said this version has 90fps. It's not 120, but I figured I'd still check this out. I never really seen anything above 60...but I also want to do this on my TV, and that's where I'm having issues.
Anyone with this game (or that Tour game with the 120fps minigame, lol), and a TV that has 120hz....HOW?! I have an LG C9, I'm using the cable that came with the system, I have it on 1080p...but it's still 60fps only...wtf? I don't get it, it's annoying. x_x
Looked through my settings, both system and TV....I can't figure out what's going on here.
As for the game itself, it's fun...working on beating the 4th level, though also just grinding for money and resources, upgrading stuff, etc.

Keep it PG-13-ish.
it only runs at 90 FPS in handheld mode, or at least tries to, doesn't reach it most of the time
apparently it also drops to 45-50 FPS range in the final level, something that didn't happen with the Switch 1 version (at least when played on Switch 2, dunno how it runs on Switch 1), seems like a pretty poorly optimized "upgrade"

I presume this is because of the higher image fidelity that the Switch 2 upgrade pushes. Dang, I shouldn't have gotten the upgrade then... I had been waiting for it to start playing (while also being distracted by ZA)

Also I remember hearing that the docked is limited to 60fps from some posting in reddit. Might be good to ask around at the sub though, since iirc the dev also check around there
@darkfenrir
Oh OK, yeah that may actually be a Switch bug. Unless you are on a monitor, 1440p usually isnt a selectable resolution in the Switch settings, my TV will switch to it when the game specifies it, but not as a OS option. Id imagine the game is just using the Swich res settings, so defaulting to a scaled 4K output at 60, rather than scaling down to 1440p or 1080p and running at 120 (assuming the game could actually hit those framerates of course). This is what the likes of Silksong and Hades 2 do, trigger a res drop to 1440p/1080, which then allows the higher framerate.
I hope it's a bug with the game, especially since it has optimization issues. Guess I'll check out the extra frames on handheld mode, I GUESS. But yeah I even have my docked resolution set to 1080p and it's still 60fps. Couldn't tell if it's the cable (using the one that came with the system, lol), my TV, or what?

Could just be as it never gets anywhere near 120 when docked so they capped it. As stated the dock doesnt do VRR, so that would feel pretty bad if it was constantly fluctuating like that, thats what VRR is for, make that feel much better. If when docked its fluctuating anywhere from 60 to 120, then locking it at 60 is the correct call for players.
@Joeynator3000 I have a PC capable of running a it of games at 120+fps but I genuinely can't tell the difference over 60fps so I end up just locking most games I play to 60 to save power. A lot of people seem to swear by how much of an improvement it is but for whatever reason my eyes just don't see it.
