Let's see how they can screw this up.

1. Not allowing players to reset the game when a unit dies. If you want the unit alive, use microtransactions.

2. Have a certain turn limit where if you want more turns, use microtransactions.

3. If you want specific weapons, use Microtransactions.

4. If you want to develop relationships or the "waifu" mechanic, get more maps through microtransactions.

5. Forge your weapons with microtransactions.

6. Reclassing can work through microtransactions.

7. Getting skills now needs microtransactions.

8. Unlocking more stories requires microtransactions. (Fates is better than what this one will ever be btw!)

9. Treasure chests can only open through microtransactions.

10. And lastly, Units can only be recruited with Microtransactions.

Then comes the look of the game. How on earth are Fates movie graphics gonna work on a phone?

I mean, look at Sakura Wars on Mobile now!

Sad how true this is.

@DarthNocturnal: It requires strategy and strategy is a genre that requires the player to think.

Play chess on phone, there is no way you can play that on a bus because you only have 30 minutes to win the game and 30 minutes of thinking isn't something people do when in buses. Maybe trains or ships but hell no in buses.

You keep saying that strategy games don't require thinking. Have you played a strategy game that didn't make you think once?

It is quite simple really, you do two rounds, then you save (probably automatically, for convenience). The next time you check the map and see what moves you have available and choose your play. Have you never just closed the lid on the 3ds in the middle of a fight in for example Awakening? Same thing really. Turn based games are very suitable for mobiles, being able to stop at any time makes them perfekt for it, and since it is basically point-and-click, it maps to the controls really well. And the same goes for chess.

As someone said earlier in the thread, Xcom Enemy within works on mobile. I would say that game is much harder to convert to mobile than FE is. Xcom has things like isometric views with different heights and floors. And it did remarkable well. FE has also always felt much easier on the tactical side. Positioning has always felt very straight forward in FE. You don't need to think about flanking, line-of-sight and cover.

It seems you paint a picture in your head and then you have a really hard time changing it. We have been through this before with advance wars, and the controls for both games are basically the same, click on a unit and move it to another space and attack. It is not much more to it.

Why I chose Advance War in the last thread you disagreed with me was because It would be easier to split into chunks, since they usually don't have such a deep story, and it would be easy to just add map packs as additional content. Of course, you can do that with FE too, it is just harder to have a detailed overarching story. But they did something like that in fates already, so it might be that route they take.

Let's see what they do before we announce they have an evil microtransaction plan.

People are going to be so disapointed to find out the mobile game is just face rubbing FE characters over and over again.

The referendum is not a party political issue. It is an opportunity for every voting individual to choose one way or the other for their own reasons.

I felt that Corbyn was speaking through gritted teeth last week when he voiced support for the remain campaign. He didn't come across sincere or heartfelt at all and was at odds with what he has said in the past. I wonder if Field was correct when he said JC might have feared a leadership challenge if he had supported exit?

I genuinely thought, mobile games is where franchises go to die.

I can only see this working, is random generated maps with casual units you gain along the way that you can't interact with, so you feel no attachment, they can die, but get new ones as you play.

Do the 'fallout shelter' thing.
Make a base, it contains your weapons, shops, etc. Gets invaded by enemies, visitors for more units, etc.

It has to be small and basic for Fire Emblem to work. Try and make it like the other general FE's and I honestly think it will become a train wreck.

Ok so you can play it in short bursts. So what? It means this can be done wrong in ways that I can easily predict namely thew word microtransactions sums up the problem.

Everything has the ability to be done wrong. Very few things are guaranteed to turn out well. Just because you can make a list of things that can be done wrong with this idea, doesn't make it a bad idea. Fire Emblem on mobile actually sounds like a perfect fit for most people.

There are both good and bad cases of microtransactions in games. The simple presence of microtransactions in a game doesn't instantly mess the game up. I'm playing a lot of Hearthstone right now and you don't need to spend anything to enjoy it.

It's been said it's a paid game so it's more likely to not have microtransactions than have them.

Oh really? Interesting. Although I think it'll still have microtransactions, but just potentially less impacting then in F2P games.

@DefHalan: I don't mind the idea of FE on mobile As long as they don't ruin the overall experience and go about it the wrong way Many games are recently having this dumb idea of having microtransactions only inorder to make the game profit and it works very well.

Another issue I have with this is how on earth are they going to do this in the long run? How will this work overall and how much of an impact FE will bring to the genre in the mobile territory?

@Socar: Then how about waiting until they do mess up instead of yelling about them because they might mess up? Seeing how we don't even know what the game is, how are we supposed to know if they are going to ruin the overall experience, or even how they would. Also, micro-transactions aren't all bad, it really depends on how they are used.

we will have to see what this is before we can start talking about how it will affect the series in the long run. Right now, I would say it won't affect the series in the long run. This isn't the next Fire Emblem game in the series, most likely it will be a spin-off.

@DefHalan: Honestly, people can't seem to wait and make rants. People still to this day think that E3 matters which doesn't anymore unless you're rich enough to waste tons of cash for just booths alone.

I don't see the point of E3 because Third parties can save money by simply doing what Nintendo is doing which is hosting digital stream instead of live stream. Yet people don't realize it.

I'm paranoid because while I know all this is just to make an experiment on the mobile market, the fact that Miitomo had 10 million downloads in just a few months is itself shocking enough that they might not make anymore handhelds anymore and just move to mobile.

Paid games really can't work on phones unless you're going for IOS which many can't afford and that's something Nintendo won't do alone so they have to do the free-to-start model for these games which can ruin the experience if done horribly.

I mean look at the constant backlash that Splatoon is getting alongside for the Smash DLC as people simply hate the way that Nintendo puts DLC and Amiibo in games. What makes you so sure that same formula isn't going to happen on their phone games?

Besides, even if I'm interested to get it, I probably won't be able to get it since its going to be region locked like Miitomo.

@Socar: Your right, we have no information on any of this and it is just blind speculation, But we should be freaking out about it and claiming it is already a failure. Lets all move on to other companies because Nintendo is doomed. Thank you for explaining this...

You're one of those people and easily the worst person to do so on this forum. For example you've gone straight into complaining about E3 out of no where.

Rants aside, where has it been said that it's a paid game? I recall Nintendo saying that they were following the free to start model with these releases. Have they changed their mind about that?

Ah my bad, I looked for the quote til I realised it was just someone extrapalation about FE being a more traditional game.
