I get that FE's point of random level ups is to keep the game interesting, and make no playthrough the same.
Here tho... one save file and stats are determined and stuck for the device.
This makes me quite salt. Seeing other 5 star Marth's with higher stars makes me salt. Obtaining random units is one thing. You can pull unit A, B and C continuously. That's luck. But for them to have a consistent stat streak along the 40 levels is impossible and you cannot manipulate it because it's set to the device. This means potential 5 stars could be really bad and you wouldn't know it. Some people pay good money for pulls, and they might not even be any good.
Unless there's going to be permanent stat buffs update later, this is a pretty disgusting touch to a gatcha game.

Nitpick rant over.
It seems that if your unit lacks in a certain stat, it will be better in another stat. There is some balance in there.

You can upgrade your characters. I upgraded one unit from 2 stars to 4.

One could only wish to have such a result.
Right now its so hard to get 20 orbs together without paying - once you get them together and get rewarded with like five 3 star charachters... well...
@KO-Cub I do wonder how much variation there will be between 5 star characters. At least with 4 and below, their stats reset once you increase their rank. It might be somewhat balanced out if there are stat caps and merging characters only adds to your total stats instead of as an aside bonus.
@RaphaBoss I never played Binding Blade so I don't know basically anything about the character, but he reminds of Valter, which I guess is neat. The level itself isn't all that interesting (of course none of them are), but having to have a team in the 30s just to get his 3* version is kinda crazy. I guess I can't complain since I could be coughing up 5 orbs for a 3 star character instead.
Does anyone know How do I set a team for defend on the Arena? The game says the team on the "Far left" is the one used, but I don't know wich one is the Far left... It just looks like a loop for me.
@RaphaBoss@DarthNocturnal yeah it should be the team in the first slot when you go to edit your teams.
The first character of this team should also be the one your friends see for you on their friend's list as well. (Mine is Marth for example)
I'm sure this is a dumb question, but what exactly is better about more stars? I summoned some people for the first time today and in 2 rounds I got three 4-star characters and all the rest 3-star, but their attack power and such doesn't seem to be any better than my beginning 1-star characters I've been using all this time.
@Xyphon22 I believe they generally get better growths and more stars do give you access to better weapons and skills. When viewing your units, tap the plus icon on their portrait then skill lost and you can see all the weapons and skills that can be unlocked
I can absolutely confirm higher stars getting better growths, both from having unlocked potential of my characters and from battling others in the Arena who have different ranks of my characters with different stats (and higher stars always having better stats in basically every category). I think the biggest thing with rank is access to skills. Most of the 5 star skills/weapons are what make some characters so much more powerful.
Yeah, just had my second underwhelming summoning in a row (probably worse than my last one).
4 Star: Hawkeye (he's not a type I need, or a character I want, but I'll level him to see if he ends up being better than my current axe wielder). Subaki (already had a 3 Star version of him, which I merged into this one. Guess it's nice that I finally have a useful rank of him now, though I don't think he was desperately needed).
3 Star: Virion (really needed an archer, but a 3 Star isn't going to cut it. Merged the 2 Star version of him to this one). Barst (Already have a 4 Star version of him, which this one got merged into). Tiki (the Awakening version of her, which is my favorite character of this pull, but at 3 Stars she won't get any use).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
I was thinking of saving my orbs until the summoning focuses change but then I noticed that there's a chance to get Olivia. She's one of my favorites and I like using dancers. Did I get her? No. I got a batch with 5 blue summons and three of them were Gwendolyn (3*)... I hate Knight class.
The Hard version is actually hard. Costing a whooping 15 stamina and your units better be lvl. 40 or close to it. You could lead the AI out with a tank that can take a few hits but the consensus is that sending a 5 star strong axe wielding flier to take out the archer and mage is the best strategy. Oh and it's one of those missions where no one can die because why not. All this just for the reward of Narcian himself... who's a 3 star axe wielder.
So the best way to get F2P Camilla... is to already have Camilla. Someone did not think this out too well. It wouldn't be half as bad if the reward for completing both maps wasn't just feathers. A reward of 5 orbs and some stamina potions in addition to the feathers would have made this worth the effort for me. As of now, I'd rather spend that stamina on continuing to train up my units and grind Hard/Lunatic for more orbs. For completion's sake though, I'll try again before the event is over.
In other news, still haven't pulled Tiki but in my quest for her I did manage to pull 5* stars of Chrom and Ogma. Back to back even. There is a ridiculous amount of red swords in the barracks now... but all I want is a dragon.
