I think it’s hilarious Illumination guy said “It was important for us to work with performers who could inhabit a wide range of emotions” after hiring Chris Pratt.
Anyway, the trailer looks good other than that. I still have low expectations for the movie, because if a good trailer meant a good movie, Marvel’s Phase 4 would be a lot better than it is now…
Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.
@JaxonH I hope I can agree with you on this one. I think the only other movie that could maybe give it some competition would be the Sonic movie. Even though I didn't like either of them, especially the second one, lots of other people seem to.
The trailers have been looking very promising, though. While I haven't taken to the humor, the actual animation and voice acting has been very impressive.

I enjoyed the Sonic movies for what they were, but they were like junk good. Decent enough for a watch, but not something I'd go out and see in a theater and definitelu not something I'd buy on 4K BluRay.
But this? This feels like a love letter to Mario, Nintendo and the history of video games. This is something I would go see in theaters, and most definitely want to own on 4K BluRay.
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced
This feels like a love letter to Mario, Nintendo and the history of video games.
Absolutely. To me, the Sonic movies just seemed to take the franchise at a base level. He's fast, he's blue, and he's a hedgehog. Check, check, check. But these two trailers alone have been absolutely stuffed to the brim with easter eggs and cool references. Even if the movie isn't great, it'll definitely feel much more like a movie based off its source material

@StarPoint Yeah, I watched the second Sonic movie on a plane the other day, and… well, after seeing the latest Mario Movie trailer, I think it’s safe to say it’ll be better than that at the very least.
Even just on a visual level, the amount of attention to detail present is quite staggering. The humour seems to be standard Illumination fare (in Kate Gray’s words, “lots of shouting and falling over”) but I’ve yet to find any of it actually painful.
However the final product turns out, it seems clear that genuine care and effort has been put into its creation, and for that I’m grateful.
@Maxz Even the stardard Illumination fare can be good. I was surprised about how well the Rise of Gru movie was recieved earlier this year compared to other Illumination films. Hoping it can be like that at least.
This is NOW for display in Rotterdam (The Netherlands Europe.) Saw it in my hometown
Have a nice day. Voiceactor: The Pirates! (Sony/Aardman 2012) - The Passion: A Brickfilm (Neema 2019) - The Torchlighters: The Story of John Newton (Vision Video 2022) - [NEW] Minno's Laugh and Grow Bible (Minno - 2024)
@Fizza Indeed, I don't know if anyone outside the US can call, when I looked up the area code, it's for Brooklyn, NY. I looked at the number and was like "did they make that a real number," and called. I was not disappointed.
I sent in a news tip to @NintendoLife from the contact form below, made sure to mention the phone number in this trailer. I feel many may skip over it, and I think the staff would have fun with what the phone number contained.
Oh dear, I didn't even notice the green screen upon first viewing. Though, I love how the customer is giving me those local ads vibe with the forced acting, lol.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
At least it's coming a few days early. Universal just loves doing this. I still remember Trolls World Tour's original April 17, 2020 release date, and then they moved it up to the 10th.
Between Sonic last year and Mario this year, my birthday has been pretty good in recent years.
I feel like it needs to brought up: Luma is essentially a child glorifying death as a form of relief. For the rest of what this movie Is doing well (and I AM excited to watch it), glamorizing anything close to suicide for children is not worth the laughs.
They are too cowardly to show suicide in the movie. It's like the Shrek film where they made a movie about a talking kitty dying then not have it die so the kids wouldn't cry at the end.
Give credit where credit is due, Disney will happily murder off the parents of the talking animals and princesses to traumatise the little ones.
@Rambler I'm still waiting for the Disney princess film where the Dad dies at the beginning so the princess develops Daddy issues and goes through a wild child teen phase.
I am honestly super stoked about this movie. I am going to try to look at it as its own stand-alone product that utilizes the Mario franchise and gives context to existing games/stories. As for the actors chosen, I think for the most part they made some good choices. Won't know how much I truly enjoy the actors chosen until I have seen the movie a couple times.
