Topic: Famitsu teases WiiU/3DS announcement

I'd still rather it was a third party game such as Dragon Quest, but man, I'd kill for another Luigi's Mansion.

By the wording of this it sounds like its a Nintendo IP. So Im going to say its Metroid. Retro who we know has 2 teams has been working on a wiiu game and a 3ds game.

And this is being announced when?

I hope it's Metroid. Both the 3DS and Wii U need a good Metroid game (more so Wii U because it's one of the few IPs that can really take advantage of the Gamepad).

I find it very unlikely that Famitsu would announce Metroid. It'll be a game that people in Japan actually care about.

When was the last time a 1st party game was revealed anywhere except E3 or a Direct?

When the next Famitsu DS+Wii magazine comes out which is usually the 20th of each month, so around April 20th.

Just to be fair, at least according to this article's translation, the teaser says NOTHING about a new game, so assuming so is probably a bit of a stretch.

Considering Zelda is the first word on everyone's mind when asked "next to Mario, who else can give 3DS and Wii U a boost," I would wager we'll finally be getting more Zelda U information and... maybe some kind of 3DS/New 3DS Zelda announcement. Like another wave of the Majora's Mask edition system or something similar.

I think jumping to "BRAND NEW MAJOR CROSS-PLATFORM NINTENDO FRANCHISE GAME!!1!!11!" is a bit much just from this blurb.

Nintendo confirmed that there's no more MM N3DSXL consoles.

You're correct. Nintendo also confirmed it would not be bringing its franchises to mobile platforms. Both of those decisions really suck, though, because there's a lot of easy money to be had. I hope they reconsider. * crosses fingers *

I don't think it's Metroid. This is a tease by Famitsu, meaning they're definitely targeting the Japanese market with the wording they used. Metroid isn't really a best-selling series in Japan at all (well, it isn't a best-selling series anywhere, to be honest, even though it has performed well at times in the past).

By the same token, this isn't going to be relating to localization of titles like Fatal Frame or new Virtual Console options in the West.

They didn't really confirm that at all. Iwata himself pointed this out, when questioned about it last week, and when you look back at the things he actually said on the matter, you realize it's true.

EDIT: Here's an actual quote from January last year:

"I have not given any restrictions to the development team, even not ruling out the possibility of making games or using our game characters."

eh? I only remember reading that it was likely to see their major IP's on mobile. why the hell would they be going mobile if not to put their franchises out on it? what do you think you read?

I think he meant it in the context that Nintendo's stance on going mobile used to be never, never, never... until they realized just how much money they could potentially make there.

So, when they say there'll "never" be any more MM3D N3DS consoles? He doesn't really believe it, since they reversed a similar stance on mobile, realizing it'd be a money making move.

See the quote in my previous post. I don't recall them ever saying something like that about mobile games.

What I'm hoping for: Anything that's an RPG
What I expect: Something Mario related (Although Super Mario RPG 2 would be nice...c'mon Square Enix...please? I'll give you a cookie... )

Please God no. We have enough RPGs coming already, the 3DS could use some games that AREN'T RPGs this year.

Could be revealed in a Direct before the issue releases.
