Sorry if I post this in the wrong forum. So I just been given a GBA SP! But my friends said that it's a fraud. Is there anyway to tell if it's a fraud?

@I'll do it once my parents wakes up. I don't have an SD card reader but my dad's laptop does. I know this is pointless.

@mudjo. They check the bottom because there is no stickers. I told them it is easy to peel off. NOTE: This if the first time I own a GBA SP.

Does it play GBA games?

If yes, who cares if it's fake or not.

If no, it's probably fake and most likely worthless.

@19Robb92 I'm getting the charger tomorrow. It has a internal rechargeable battery via NINTENDO.

Why didn't you get the charger right away?

If it's real that's awesome though. I love the GBA line of system, I own all three.

Do you (or your friends) own a original DS (phat)? It uses the same charger.

@19Robb92 because my friend did not have the charger, but my other friend does. Also the 3DS was my first handheld.

Oh, ok. Then I don't know how you'll be able to figure it out.

But if he's giving it to you there's no point in not taking it, even if it's fake.

I don't think fake real looking, working consoles are all that common though, since they're usually more expensive to produce than just games.

Bloop.

So, funny story...
My sister and I decided to 'trade up' our DS systems (for DSi's) in one of those hokey deals that Gamestop puts on. Well, we showed up with our consoles in tow and discussed our intentions with the employee. Unfortunately, it was at this time we realized that my sister's DS system was completely bare, no serial number or evidence of any kind. The discovery was shocking, mostly because of its last minute nature, but also a blow to our pride knowing the system had unknown origins.

@Optimist_Prime poor dude. How can I post photos on here?

NOTE: I took photos on my 3DS in 2d mode.

Looks real enough. It looks like mine actually.

I have come across fake consoles before, even ones that look authentic and play the games correctly. Fake DS Lites were common enough a few years ago to make it onto the news.

Apart from the missing sticker, the fact that the cartridge looks like it's sticking out of the system slightly could be a warning sign. It should be flush with the bottom of the console when fully inserted. If it won't go in properly then the console is probably fake.

EDIT: The charger would be another good way of checking, assuming it's the original one that came with the console. I believe it should have the Nintendo logo actually moulded in the plastic on it somewhere and have the code AGS-002. Most 3rd party or fake chargers wouldn't bother.

@NFreak007 I checked my GBA SP again and the cartridge sticks out of the system a little as well, but mine still has the sticker and everything, it's an old thing. ^^;;

@Whirlpool The sticker and serial code stickers are missing. Also I just got it charged. Turns out it has a Game Boy splash screen.

Do you have a Tri-wing screwdriver? Take it apart and if the PCB looks like a real one, I'd say it's real.
