Topic: Which Is Best: Indie Games or Big-Name Games?

Posts 1 to 20 of 22

Indie Games have really gotten popular over the years, for a good reason. They're challenging, some are dark and scary, others are lighthearted. Indie Games are so good and well-known that some games are better than Big-name Games (Now when I say big-name I mean publishers and developers like For Example Sony, Nintendo, Level 5 and Naughty Dog). But what do you guys and gals think? Are Independents better than Big-names?
(P.S, I'm not discriminating both of them. I think Indies and Big-names are both good.)

Ever sense I played the GBA I saw Hyrule, saved Peach, defeated the Underworld, flew in the Arwing and went on many adventures on other consoles.

Can't wait for Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy XVI Ratchet and Clank: The Movie and PS4!

bot h are good. There indie games better than AAA, and AAA better than indie titles.

I'd say indie games. They're bringing more unique adventures and gameplay than most AAA titles nowadays that all strive for realistic graphics and grey colored shooters.

It depends on the game.

Yeah, it really depends. big-name games usually have one style that they use all the time., while indie could be ALL over the place.

it really depends on the game. if its rpg i will always pick FE or pokemon over indie rpg but for others i have to think about it.

Playing: Wargroove on Switch and Fire Emblem on GBA

Depends entirely on the game really. You simply can't say that one is better than the other. There have been plenty of extremely good and disappointing AAA games, and there have been plenty of extremely good and disappointing indie games.

Good games are the best games. End of discussion.

Depends on the game, although I do have to say I've seen more ambitious games from certain big name studios than indie developers. Although ambition seems to be quite rare in general in today's 'play it safe' marketplace.

Exactly. I like Terraria as much as I like Mario. They're both awesome games with their own merits. It's cool for indies to be small, but it is also cool how far devs like Nintendo have come.

Big name if only because it includes Ninty. I love Indie games, but they don't even compare to Zelda or Xenoblade or DK or Golden Sun.

Love having both around.

But I severely miss the middle class.

Lots of indies are pretentious and gimmicky, lots of AAAs are formulaic.

Lots of censorship here...

Well so far, indie's are winning it for me at the moment. The big name companies, yes, even Nintendo with their NSMB series, seem to have got into the rehash mindset. Constantly churning out the same game all the time.

However, indie's do have their down sides too. Some can be really great and memorable while others, you just never want to see... ever again.

But as others have already said:
