Huh.... Let me think.... I have played II, IV, VI, I, III and VII. But the ones I have replayed the most are II and IV (which by the way is also known as II).
So I guess my favorites are II and IV!
I like to call my PSP my Final Fantasy Portable. There I have I, II, IV, VII, IX and Duodecim.
As for favorite Final Fantasy... I'd have to go with Final Fantasy Vlll. By a landslide.
For some reason I feel like you're just saying that to be contrary. But it does have really good gameplay. It's just that I'd be hard pressed to find a way the story didn't suck.
Haha, yeah I'm a sucker for a good story. Hence my love for the Metal Gear franchise and how much I know about it.
I also loved the music, the graphics (better than Vll for whatever that's worth lol), the game play, the characters and dat ending. Man oh man.

Eh, NES games have lost a bit of their good looks. Final Fantasy IV though, looks better than VII in my opinion. SNES games have aged so much better than the N64 / PS1 games.
Final Fantasy IX is probably in my top 5-10 favorite games ever made, and VI and VII aren't terribly far behind. I have a hard time thinking of one element of IX that I didn't enjoy. The soundtrack is probably my favorite in the series (and that's saying something), the incredibly charming story, cast and art style reel me in every time, ability learning and the battle system require thought without being either obtuse or inaccessible, the sidequests are great (the hours I've wasted playing Hot and Cold), the knowing winks to the previous Final Fantasy games always tickle me, and it's genuinely funny.
Yeah, it's not without its flaws - the card game isn't as good as VIII's and the subplot involving Freya's quest to find Sir Fratley was conspicuously absent between the fall of Cleyra and the ending FMV - but I love the rest of the game so much that I don't mind them at all.
The Gamecube one is bad but Crystal Bearers is good? You crazy, son.
actually it's more accurate to say PARTS of Crystal Bearer is good. The first hour of the game and arguably the main combat and what few bosses are in the game are really, REALLY good. Also really like that one stealth minigame on a train.
the rest ranges from mediocre to bad to painful and the story and characters feel mostly pointless. Also, Final Fantasy 2 (as in the NES one) honestly has more character development.
Back when it released my friend paid full retail price for it when it came out. After the fight with Bahamut we knew this game wasn't going to get any better.
Final Fantasy VI is my favorite. The shear mass of playable characters and the fact that each character had a detail background as good as the main character. That and Kefka was just the best villain ever.

I love VI too, it's one of my favorite games... Though I kinda dislike how the second half of the game is pretty much just optional sidequests. It's almost as if the game told me... "Look, I don't care what you do now... If you ever want to finish the game go to that tower.".
Also for some reason I usually end up with only four or so strong characters, the others end up underleveled and that's bad...
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
Final Fantasy 2 (actual 2, not the one that's secretly four) is by far my favorite. I haven't played too many in the series but for some reason I just really like the battle system in 2 (though I'm probably one of the only ones)!
