I didn't think you hated me, but it's nice to know that you don't. I did like Birdo in Mario Kart Wii as well, but since you could only pick one character I usually went with Luigi because he's my favorite plumber. Being able to pick 2 characters is one thing I missed on Mario Kart Wii. Having Luigi and Baby Luigi or Wario and King Boo working together was always fun to see. One of my favorite combos is Birdo and Diddy Kong because aquiring their special items isn't based on your position in the race and they come up quite often. Plus they kind of match in color, too, which is why I usually pick the Turbo Birdo Kart for them to race in. They make a great team.
My favorite is Luigi too but I used Bowser Jr for the speed. I also liked him though. The color schemes for both Luigi and Bowser Jr since I like Green.
I like Bowser Jr's voice and his energy output, and he was always fun to match up with other characters in Double Dash. I didn't really play as him much in MK Wii, I was mostly Luigi, Baby Luigi, Yoshi, Birdo, and the occasional Waluigi or Wario.
By the way, do you think we should start a new topic or something? This one is about Birdo and we're filling it with Mario Kart discussion.
Clearly the only way Nintendo can resolve this is to have Birdo get intimate in a game.
I don't think that anybody would pay money to see that.
QUEEN OF SASS
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
Not following any of the amazing manual stuff i always thought Birdo was female. It's kinda cool Nintendo gives a character such a controversial backstory. Only thing i can say for sure is that i don't want its mouth anywhere near me...

No, not this again, Waltz! Not after the strange scene that Chocobo had in the intro to its Dungeon game on the Wii ...
In Japan they call it Catherine, and it's seen as male over there. In North America they changed his gender to female so people wouldn't call him transgender. Nintendo isn't really that new to transgender characters, if Skyward Sword's "unisex" villain Lord Ghirahim was modeled to be that way.
I just say there are multiple Birdo's kind of like Yoshi's. Some are female and other's male. The main Yoshi we see is male and the Main Birdo we see nowadays is female. I think the only reason Nintendo may call it undetermined gender or just by Birdo's name is because all the people who say "No it's a male" So now it helps both sides make up their minds to say whether it's a boy or girl.
It's a boy in Japan, and a girl in America. The localization team (probably) realized how disturbing the whole situation was and changed it in later games. Japan is more tolerable about that kind of stuff. Besides, it doesn't really matter which gender is canon. The Mario games aren't really known for their story lines and character development.

That's a scan from the original SMB2 instruction manual. Note that they got it's name wrong (and also switched Ostro and Birdo in the game end credits too). Sure, this could be chalked up to the localization team just making stuff up, but still, that's straight from Nintendo and about as official as it gets.
