@VoidofLight The unspoken truth about indie games is that there's an even higher proportion of them that are boring unoriginal trash than even the jaded modern AAA industry turns out, and that even holds on consoles where the higher barriers to publishing filters out most of the even worse games that remain PC only.
It's just that they're worth sifting through to find the occasional gem than the big publishers couldn't produce because nobody would take the risk on it, or if they did it'd be a minigame buried inside something way more formulaic.
Hardly anyone who makes a good indie game ever gets past being a one hit wonder either.
I mean that's true to an extent. Like "what if classic 8 bit style game" stopped being worthwhile when games came out after Shovel Knight that were obviously not close to as good as Shovel Knight, and there's gonna be a graveyard of comfy games no one bought in the next 3 years.
But I think that just speaks to the fact that every time a single AAA game comes out, 100s of indie games do. So if even 10% of those are worthwhile, that's still many more games to choose from by comparison.
The basic gameplay is dangerously close to a walking sim (with admittedly pretty graphics) interspersed with tedious gunplay. I find them really shallow, as if they were made by a frustrated wannabe film maker who is stuck making games.
Yeah, whenever I get to tag my library where there are similar games, I use the tag "Like a movie" or "Cinematic" as that seems to be the core idea of the games' presentation: they're trying to be fully interactive Hollywood productions. Fahrenheit being my prime example.

This is especially true when there's a trend going on, like the current trend. I don't know the exact name for that style/genre, but it's survival roguelike against hordes of enemies on an isometric playing field (usually with few or no obstacles), most commonly with bullet hell elements. I keep seeing them choking out my discovery queues.
Another is first person survival horror. Everyone's trying to be P.T.. All they are is the same corridors, same light mechanics, the same stalkers and the same jumpscares.
@Tounushi Games trying to be pt? I haven’t noticed that tbh, the again I’m not really into the type of game. Have examples? I’m just interested, As I never got to play pt.
Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!

@Snatcher Dang, I never put to memory the games I just directly shove on my ignore list... Looking back, I think Visage is closest to the mark?
I mean, my thought process is just this when they come up on my discovery queue on Steam: "It's got the horror tag. It's in a house/office/industrial facility/forest/castle/mine. Corridors. Unspeakable entity in the shadows. Psychological horror tag. Nah." I usually invest no further thought to games I ignore.
@Tounushi Ah, that’s a fair critic, I would agree, I have seen a good few games in steam that is like that. I hope we get a good one, because I would play it!

I think Pokemon leaks destroy the experience. Especially the leaks that show off new pokemon species that weren't meant to be revealed until launch. People act as if leaks for these games are so great, but yet it does nothing more than remove elements of the games out of the context they're originally meant to be seen in. People always end up hating the new species when they leak because they're just shown via still images, removing all the charm which the animations, cries, and behaviors would bring to these designs. Especially in a game like Scarlet and Violet, where a ton of these new pokemon were made with interacting with the world in mind.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@VoidofLight I agree with you, Wile I go out of my way to look at specific leaks, I wanted to see the starters, nothing more. But it sucks for people who want it to be a complete surprise, But, nope, people don’t care if others get spoiled.
Sadly there’s not much we can do, stuff break street date, people doing shady things just to get early footage, it sucks, it really does, and it doesn’t just go for Pokémon, any game really.

I'm all for leaks with Pokemon myself. I want to know what the exclusive Pokes are if they insist on keeping doing the dual releases thing plus I find the story and collecting is all secondary to me as the main thing I like in Pokemon is building a proper team fight other people with so I don't really care about things like how God is kidnapping children out of their bedroom.
The overworld music in sonic frontiers is better then botw, please don’t kill me. ☹️☹️ (AND I said overworld, not boss music, as I think that comparison in unfair as there two totally different types of Music)
Summon Things from Paper Mario Sticker Star and Color Splash are the thing I like from both games. They look like Final Fantasy summon beast. And I prefer the Things as Summon than as Boss in Origami King.
@Eagly@Link-Hero@Snatcher Yeah, as much as I enjoy VR and wish that more people can enjoy it, I get that some people are flat out unable to play VR at all, and I just don't think VR outright replacing flat screen gaming is a great idea, rather it co-existing with it, like handhelds, PCs, and mobile games.
Of course, there is the tiniest possibility that a company could make a solution to VR that'll make it accessible for a wider range of people, but if that's even possible is a huge question.
Just don't expect a heavily epileptic person to be playing Lucky's Tale any time soon.
@Eagly Yeah VR is way too expensive at the moment for most people to even consider to even consider getting a PSVR2 or a whole PC to play some additional VR games.
Although it is important to remember that there are other options, like the Pico Neo, the Oculus Quest 2, the previous PSVR headset (which can be found for less than $200 at this point), and cloud gaming options for VR like Plutosphere or Shadow PC.
