There is a different degree between I have no interest with the games and I hate the games.
The games I have zero interest I gave Red Cross and I still want to mention their names.
But the games I really hate I gave Double Black Cross and I don't even want to know their existence even mentioning their names from my tongue.
And you can see I gave red Cross on zelda, pikmin, fire emblem, splatoon, xenoblade, etc as I have zero interest with them but I didn't hate them.
@Anti-Matter Not saying you hate them, but you make comparisons to things that just can’t be compared, then act like your the one and a million person to play such and such game. You yourself called ratchet and clank of all games, a hidden gem, and not mainstream as compared to splatoon which for a long time was the other way around.
And just because something might be talked about a little bit more then something else doesn’t make it forgotten, it has its audience. And its not like people have a vendetta to wipe out niche things by liking something else, no one is threatening your games existence. And people that make fun of you for liking other stuff, they just suck, and not everyone acts like that.
@Snatcher
I knew a lot of peoples like Ratchet & Clank games but it still peoples like Splatoon games more than Ratchet & Clank games.
From the UK / Japan sales I watched every week here, it seems peoples suddenly forgot about Ratchet & Clank A Rift Apart but peoples still keep talking about Splatoon games. That situation made me concern about the things that suddenly become minority and get eclipsed by more popular things.
@Anti-Matter Your on a Nintendo site, of course people talk about splatoon. it’s what high on the sale chart this week, because it just came out, just like rift apart when it came out.
You can like one game over the other, still doesn’t make it comparable, I like splatoon more then Minecraft, doesn’t make them comparable,

It’s a funny concept, feeling threatened by the existence of differing popularity in games, when it’s usually the ‘niche’ status of something that get some people drawn to it. Once it gets too ‘mainstream’, they lose interest or say it has ‘changed’. Not saying it’s always like that, but ‘ey.
Let alone the idea of putting games on a personal ban list. Ah well.
I keep buying fighting games for some reason, even though I barely got anyone to play against.
@Takoda It’s not like someone can’t like a game because it’s popularity did something to it, but just hating it because other people like it? I don’t get it.

@Takoda
I feel the same way. Take advance wars for example I got into it because it was niche and looked more appealing to me then fire emblem, but now I wish it was more popular so that remake would just get released already!
I fear no man
but that thing:
The carrot minigame from bowser's inside story
it scares me
@Snatcher Seems rather petty indeed, though there are quite a few people who are contrarian like that honestly, just hating on things because so many others like it and thus feeling ‘different than the others’. Don’t have the energy for that myself, I’ll just like or dislike things according to my own taste instead of the opinion of the majority.

Though thinking on the matter a bit, there will always be more and less popular series. The bigger ones eclipsing the smaller ones is like saying Mario will absorb every platformer, and we all know that ain’t how it works. A hat in time is less popular than mario odyssey but I personally love it more, do I now have to hate on Mario for overshadowing it in some way? I don’t think so, it still stands on it’s own and not every game needs a big spotlight. I think the rise of the indie scene has proven at least that much.

Yes this explains it perfectly, I freaking love A hat in time, but it’s less popular then other platformers, that doesn’t mean I have to hate Mario nor do I love both of them, In just happen to love one more. Thank you this is what I have been trying to say.

@Snatcher Me too, there might be good reason why it's popular too. Maybe many enjoy said game and have fun with it, and that's fine. Don't like it because you personally don't enjoy it and tried it, then try something else. I may not be into Fortnite, last time I played it was to try "no build" mode, but I personally liked Realm Royale more. Rather than be angry at Fortnite, try to give reasons why the BR I like playing is better and why I like it more.
I could use Apex, but that game falls in the realm of being popular. I still enjoy it for my arenas.
@Anti-Matter Why look at it as a threat? It exists, it doesn't stop you from playing the games you like. I like to do this, instead of getting upset that something is popular, why not go into what makes what you like so good? I think focusing so much on what you don't like isn't healthy, and enjoying the stuff you do like is a much better thing to do.
Yeah, I'm not into sports, but I think it's like that with individual teams. Hating popular things isn't going to change a rude person. If anything, I'm trying to say this as nice as I can, it sounds like belittling popular things is the same thing those people do to unpopular things.
I can relate because Half-Life fans (I know you don't like M-rated games, but it's part of my experience with a similar situation) bullied me over liking Jimmy Neutron games. I never resented or hated Half-Life, and when I got around to playing HL2, I enjoyed it. Did it make me stop playing and enjoying my Jimmy Neutron games? Not at all. If anything, just meant more games to enjoy.
I think I'm trying to say is popular games existing isn't going to ruin your enjoyment of games you like. Sometimes, it's fine to enjoy both popular and less popular games. I think @Snatcher might get what I'm saying.
@Takoda I couldn't agree more with this. Also, some of the less popular things I like, I wish were more popular. Sometimes series ends because of a lack of popularity. Still perfectly fine to enjoy those less popular series too.

I can understand being frustrated at something's popularity if that popularity causes bad things for stuff you like. For example BotW's gigantic popularity meant that traditional Zelda games (both 2D and 3D) are a thing of the past.
But I wouldn't say I hate BotW. Its gigantic popularity meant that the Switch was (and still is) a gigantic success meaning more games are brought to the system. Meanwhile Nintendo did remaster/remake some old Zelda games for the Switch and indie games like Tunic have also filled in the gap so it's not completely barren of the old style, just no new ones from Nintendo. Finally as a game BotW is fine, it's just not a good Zelda game.
@Grumblevolcano
Who says traditional Zelda games are a thing of the past?
Nintendo changes things up all the time. We still got 2D Mario games after the success of the 3D ones, same with Metroid. The next Zelda game after TotK might vey well be something completely different again and return to the more traditional style.
@Snatcher Yeah. It does fall under the realm (no pun intended) of unpopular opinions, I like Realm Royale more than Fortnite. Forging a class weapon, the chicken system giving BR a sort of lives system, being based off Paladins, I like it.
I'm glad you do. I think what I'm trying to say is, people who are mean over you liking something, isn't going to change their minds. I'd say belittling popular things is no different than those belittling unpopular things. It's not gonna get anywhere, so enjoy the games you like.
Also, if something someone likes gets popular, it's a good thing as it cold mean more content from that series.
