Be careful, if you tell him Ratchet & Clank is very popular, he might stop playing it.

@Snatcher I'll never understand hating things because they're simply popular. I do like some popular things, but there are things I like that aren't as popular that I wish were more popular.

Take a less popular game, show, or movie, I like it, but if it was more popular, then there would be more content for it, more entries, more episodes, more stuff to keep said series going.

While I have enjoyed less popular games, I just wish those games were more popular. Take Tokyo Mirage Sessions, I loved it. It wasn't popular on either Switch or Wii U, so that means less of a chance at another entry with said game.

Though, to me, an unpopular opinion simply means an opinion that would be hard to have elsewhere online. Imagine if I said something positive about the Sonic 1 GBA port on YouTube as oppose to this thread, it wouldn't be pretty, lol.

Speaking on Splatoon, it's a weird series for me. I like the gameplay, but I'm not a big fan of the modern slang and music for the games. It's growing on me more, now that I gave Splatoon 2 more of a chance, but I still can't say I'm a massive fan of it.

@DarthNocturnal Yeah, Splatoon 3 makes the Salmonid mode something you can do 24/7.

@VoidofLight I'm kind of the opposite really: I was drawn into Splatoon because of it's aesthetic, lore and music. It just so happened that they managed to create possibly the most unique shooter on top of that.

I vividly remember liking the look of Splatoon but being content to just observe it from an outsider's perspective since I wasn't interested in the gameplay. And then, for whatever reason, another Testfire demo for 2 came out during the middle of 2020 which I saw whilst browsing the eShop one day and thought 'eh, why not' and downloaded it. I proceeded to have what can only be described as an awakening in regards to Splatoon as a series from what I played and the minute that demo ended, I begged my family to let me buy it.

Fast forward to today and I've bought 3 with my own money the day after it came out and have absolutely fallen for every aspect of this series. Mad how one good experience can completely change your outlook on a series, isn't it?

@Fizza Yeah. I've been pretty much enjoying the Octo Expansion. The music is growing on me, and I really find the lore to be interesting, given how well thought out it is.

@VoidofLight If you think the lore is good in OE (which it absolutely is), then HOOOOOOOOOOO BOY you are not ready for the stuff 3 throws at you.

@Fizza I'm probably not. All I've seen of 3 (from promo material) is that there's like mammals in the game and Splatfests are different, but other than that I've been out of the promotional loop, so the game is going to end up being a pretty big surprise when I actually get to it.

@VoidofLight @Fizza Splatoon music always sounds weird to me at first. Then I end up liking it after playing the game, especially the electronic beats stuff in single player - I really like that. That's up my alley.

@WoomyNNYes It feels bonkers to say that this song is one of my favourite video game songs ever made but it honestly is.

@Sunsy I don’t really understand it ether, it’s one thing you dislike it because it gets overblown, but hating it purely because a lot of people love it? I don’t get it, play it, do you like it’s. Good, do you hate it, fine, you just got to try something new.

The reason I don't like / have no interest / hate certain popular things because their existence are a threat for me like when many peoples talking about one popular thing, it makes the minority things / unpopular things get eclipsed and forgotten because less peoples will give some appreciation toward the minority things.

For example, I don't like soccer at all, completely zero interest because that sport is too popular. I personally never like the gameplay and the euphoria of that sport but peoples play that sport almost everywhere while at the same time I like boxing, the unpopular sport that almost nobody even care about, even talking about boxing in public, peoples will frowning at me like why do you like boxing when everybody like soccer. It made peoples belittle my choice for minority things and I don't want somebody belittle my choice so I made a stand to dislike the popular things that become a threat for me.

There is a different degree between I have no interest with the games and I hate the games.
The games I have zero interest I gave Red Cross and I still want to mention their names.
But the games I really hate I gave Double Black Cross and I don't even want to know their existence even mentioning their names from my tongue.
And you can see I gave red Cross on zelda, pikmin, fire emblem, splatoon, xenoblade, etc as I have zero interest with them but I didn't hate them.

@Anti-Matter Not saying you hate them, but you make comparisons to things that just can’t be compared, then act like your the one and a million person to play such and such game. You yourself called ratchet and clank of all games, a hidden gem, and not mainstream as compared to splatoon which for a long time was the other way around.

And just because something might be talked about a little bit more then something else doesn’t make it forgotten, it has its audience. And its not like people have a vendetta to wipe out niche things by liking something else, no one is threatening your games existence. And people that make fun of you for liking other stuff, they just suck, and not everyone acts like that.

I knew a lot of peoples like Ratchet & Clank games but it still peoples like Splatoon games more than Ratchet & Clank games.
From the UK / Japan sales I watched every week here, it seems peoples suddenly forgot about Ratchet & Clank A Rift Apart but peoples still keep talking about Splatoon games. That situation made me concern about the things that suddenly become minority and get eclipsed by more popular things.

@Anti-Matter I think Ratchet & Clank could benefit from moving from Playstation to other consoles. Though it is a Sony ip.

@Anti-Matter Your on a Nintendo site, of course people talk about splatoon. it’s what high on the sale chart this week, because it just came out, just like rift apart when it came out.

You can like one game over the other, still doesn’t make it comparable, I like splatoon more then Minecraft, doesn’t make them comparable,
