@Sparrow5579 Indeed, games I love like Sonic or any series I like, I would like to have physically, or digitally in case of PC. Having options is great, I wouldn't want one format to disappear over another, having physical, digital, and cloud versions. They all appeal to someone in different situations.

The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!

@RR529 Don't most of those games have an option to set the ATB battle system to "Wait" so when your meter fills up and it's your turn, the enemies will wait and not do anything until you do? I know Chrono Trigger does, but I haven't played much FF.

@Sparrow5579 I've never understood the hate. I've said this before somewhere on here, but there are extremely few games that came out 10-20 years ago that I still have any desire to play today, and so I don't care about "owning" the game because I'm not going to want to play it years from now anyway. I'm excited that Kingdom Hearts is on Switch at all, and although I haven't bought it yet that's only because I'm waiting for it to be cheaper. As long as they have demos you can make sure it works with your internet, I'm all for the cloud if that's the only way to get the games.

@Ryu_Niiyama Zelda is my favorite series and I am so glad that they have not announced WW and TP ports for Switch. I already have them both on Wii U and don't need them. I guess "glad" might be the wrong word because I guess they would be good for those who want them, but this big "Zelda blowout!" that this Direct was supposed to be would have been disappointing to me because I would have much rather had other things (like the Oracle games remade Link's Awakening-style). So I'm perfectly happy with those ports not being announced.

@Xyphon22, I had no idea that was a thing! Granted the only ATB FF games I've played were IV Advance (back on GBA), the mobile version of IV (which I did see through to the end), & IX on Switch (which I should go back to, to see if the option is there).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

@Xyphon22 exactly my point, like I said I'm excited that the resident evil games are coming via cloud because at least I can play them and they are one and done games to me but worth the money so I have no need to be able to hold onto the game for years

We have done the impossible and that makes us mighty.

Anti-Matter

@Sparrow5579
I personally hate cloud gaming as I am a games collector so I want my games purchase in physical release. Even I have finished the games, I still keep them to replay / revisit again whenever I want.

No good deed
Will I do
AGAIN...!!!

Sparrow5579

@Anti-Matter that's fair enough if your a collector then I totally get it. Personally I'm not collecting games and just want to play games, as I said there are some games I get physical as I want to keep them such as Pokémon

@Sparrow5579 I agree with you there. In lieu of a ps5/xbox one style system at least Switch owners have options and it shows devs that switch owners want those games...which means they may get native entries on the successor. But I feel they should all have a solid demo so people can test.
My unpopular opinion: Why are so many people crying about no TPHD or WWHD ports? You got them already on wiiu...shoulda bought a wiiu.

Yeah, people are actually crying about the lack of 80$ Zelda rehashes (as though the Switch doesn't already have enough of those) even though we got the first new Zelda game in over 5 years officially revealed, all because some internet person (the Metroid Prime Trilogy guy) told them they would be featured in the Direct. Shut up and take the W, people!

There going to port them in a few years anyway, this is Nintendo we are talking about, if they can make money be re releasing a Zelda game of all franchises, they will do it eventually. But it’s true we got it on the Wii U, so that’s why we need nso wii games already, GameCube all those good consoles.

I have an opinion that's pretty topical as of late and one that I know for a fact will get me crucified online:

I preferred the recent Direct to E3 2021's.

I honestly don't think the direct was that bad. Grant it, I don't hate Fire Emblem, I like Octopath, I like Final Fantasy's Rhythm game offerings, and I got Pikmin 4 and Tears of the Kingdom confirmed. The farming games don't bother me, and I feel like people were overstating just how many farming sims there actually were. People act like there were 20 of them, but it was like 4 of them, and one of the 4 isn't even really a farming sim. It was interesting how they confirmed that Switch Sports released completely unfinished, given that they're still developing the additional sports, with Golf being delayed because they didn't finish it yet.

@kaisu For me, XC2 is blurrier than XCDE or XC3. You can't even play XC2 in handheld mode it's so bad.

I thought the "too many farm games" thing was just a joke. Some light-hearted teasing. I didn't even realize there was four until sometime after the presentation, and I just thought it was kind of funny.
I liked the Direct as a whole. Yeah, I still want my Prime 4 full reveal, but I'm sure it'll happen..... in an eon or two.

I had the same thing happen to me.

@DarthNocturnal I thought it was a joke, but some people are genuinely serious.

@Fizza I'd honestly agree, both were strong Directs but the MK8 Deluxe and XC3 DLC pushes the recent Direct into the lead.

Is there ever a Direct that is unanimously praised? Tbh with this recent Direct I see a lot more people defending it as "not that bad" than people actually saying it was bad...and the latter group are generally upfront about not liking RPGs, farm sims, etc. (which, TBF is a comment response to most Directs as they are often heavy in these genres).

Basically, no Direct is going to please everyone. On one hand, it's annoying for people with specific tastes to dismiss decent or good directs as "bad" just because nothing suited their particular tastes. But I also find that these complaints are blown out of proportion when the majority response to most recent Directs has been positive.

Personally, I think this year has been so packed that I would've been totally content without any Directs from summer onwards. Everything revealed now is just an extra cherry on top of what it's almost certainly one of the Switch's top two years IMO (or a great start to 2023).

Yeah, I guess some people must have expected a bit too much from it, @Buizel .... I missed the live stream, though, so I only looked up announcements later
I've got far too much to play & coming up as it is, the last thing I needed was Nintendo dropping hundreds of games I'd want to get, lol

@Buizel I think it's the Youtube crowd that lead to certain responses to certain Directs. Some of the first videos discussing the latest Direct were about how bad/disappointing it was and, when some of those videos get into the 100k views range at the least? It's fair to expect the public perception to follow suit.

I 100% agree that Directs are never unanimously hated/loved though, it's by the very nature of the broadcast to have games that some people will frankly not care about in the slightest. It just so happened that the last Direct seemed to have basically everything I wanted, which is why I've been gushing about it so much here. It's cool to have differing opinions because discussions are always cool, it just needs to be made sure not to veer too hard in the toxic direction of either too unhappy or too happy, at least to me
