Cool thing to point out: the Nintendo Today app has an interactive 3D model of the Warp Star available to view. It's neat rotating it around and seeing all the details.

@N00BiSH i saw! its really cool they put that up, i hope we get more looks like that at vehicles.

The only annoying thing about Air Riders at this point, outside of the unfortunate combination of only one City Trial map + costs more than Smash Ultimate, is that people might think I have played Mario Kart World or have a strong opinion about it at all when I say I am way more excited for this, and not the fact that I think only DS and 8 Deluxe live up to the hype Mario Kart gets as a series.
It could be the 3rd best Mario Kart of all time and not be as good as the original Kirby Air Ride tbh. I know its considered increasingly uncool to care too much about the quantity of content in a game, but I always found Mario Kart so limited most times. I don't constantly play the same courses just to do so in a game, I don't wanna play the same 16 or 32 tracks endlessly, for years, so I've always preferred other racing games that just have more going on (outside of the notable 2 exceptions I named). That type of multiplayer repetition I get more out of in shooters I guess. So I really can't state how important the checklist was in Air Ride and how much that made it worthwhile to not only replay levels but to give a reason to experiment with different vehicles that are honestly way more interesting than most vehicle options in most racing games.
It's more impressive when you realize Air Ride has 9 race tracks, and the average quality of them was probably not that great. (and unlike some people, I did actually put a lot of time into all three modes) And looking at the huge upgrade these new courses seem to have, could not be more excited, even before City Trial.
@N00BiSH, some Star Allies representation would be cool, since I honestly like Star Allies better than Forgotten Land (both of them are amazing games though).

Apparently Kirby Air Riders is rated 12+ in Germany, which is higher than all the other Kirby games I looked at. It was also given a fear warning in UK, perhaps Dark Matter returns?
I went ahead and watched the second Direct. The gameplay still has yet to get me excited, but it's clear that the game is high-quality, even if it's not for me. This is gonna sound dumb, but if they sold the machine/character customization part as its own, 5 dollar spin-off, I'd buy that! 😂 As is, the I think I'll pass on this one, assuming I can't find a copy for under 40 bucks (not gonna happen lol) or I can find someone willing to lend me their VGC for it (more likely, since I know a few folks interested in snagging this).
Definitively excited to pick up this one eventually sometime after I get my Switch 2, especially after seeing all of the exciting features, both offline and online, and seeing that there is no dlc planned, which means I can get it physically (because I refuse to get a physical cartridge that has part of the game as digital dlc, I prefer to have an entire game as one format, which is why I still buy digital games sometimes).
It looks like Masahiro Sakurai has created another one for the history books.
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Pokémon Violet
2: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
3: Animal Crossing New Horizons
4: Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
5: The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Sakurai-san is just so pleasant to watch. After watching the Direct I am even more convinced of Kirby Air Riders. Looks like a fun racer with good content.
What a lovely Direct from the loveliest man in the industry. You've got to appreciate his honesty: "you can play with up to 8 people in Top Ride...but I'd reccommend only 4" XD
Also, those have to be the best looking cutscenes I've ever seen in a Nintendo game, absolutely gorgeous.
And a flat out "there will be no DLC" confirmation does suggest the whole team is hopping straight onto another project and I think we all know what that is. But for now, this is another Sakurai masterpiece, I'm so glad he was given the opportunity to do this!
