NNID: KittenKoder ..... what else would it be?
1. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii) - Yes, I said it. Few other games have yet to leave such a huge impression on me, though not for a lack of trying.
2. Okami HD (PS3) - Port or no Port, it's still one of the greatest games that ever existed.
3. Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii) - Everything I've ever wanted in an RPG, all in one game.
4. Radiant Historia (DS) - Sad that so many seemed to have forgotten this now that the 3DS has hit its stride.
5. Ghost Trick (DS) - We need more fun and creative adventure games like this.
6. Tales of Vesperia (360) - Still by far the best Tales game released.
7. Ys Seven (PSP) - Still the most fun I've had on the PSP.
8. Ni no Kuni (PS3) - Still the only great RPG released on the PS3...
9. Shadow Complex (360) - Still the best original DL game I've ever played, as well as the second best Metroidvania.
10. Dust: An Elysian Tale (360) - This sure as hell tries to top it, though.
11. 3D Dot Game Heroes (PS3) - A Zelda clone that actually manages to top most actual Zelda games would be higher on my list if it wasn't harder than just about any Zelda game...
I gotta say, for a generation that I honestly thought was lacking in great and memorable games, at least these ones managed to stand out as fantastic games that I'll always look back fondly on.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: the Crystal Bearers
Sin & Punishment: Star Successor
Tatsunoko VS Capcom
360:
Dead or Alive 4
Portal: Still Alive
Soulcalibur IV
Battlefield: 1943
PS3:
InFamous
DS:
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword
Suikoden Tierkries
Kingdom Hearts: Re:Coded
iOS:
Chaos Rings
Lost Odyssey (360), Goldeneye 007 (Wii), & Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii) would have also made it on, but I wasn't able to finish them for one reason or another.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
This is basically the definite critical meets commercial meets notable. I approve (and yes I know Mirror's Edge, it apparently did well enough to end EA's conference this year so long term was good for it I assume).
The Nintendo DS's library is the highlight of this generation in my opinion. While the Nintendo DS does have its fair share of throw away games, the amount of quality experiences to be had from the handheld is staggering. I can't think of a single year from 2004 to now where I've been unsatisfied with the system's selection. I thought 2008 was that year, but that's the year when my first experiences with Guitar Hero released, and I love those titles. In fact, I just ordered Band Hero as I've been wanting to get back into the Guitar Hero experience (my current guitar grip has a questionably button) and like the idea of having drums in the mix too which Band Hero offers. Speaking of purchases, I've gotten 2 3DS games this year, Dark Moon and New Leaf, while today alone I got 3 DS games to add to my collection: Band Hero, Resident Evil Deadly Silence and Elite Beat Agents. Even though the Nintendo DS is no longer seeing new releases, it'll continue to give me new, enjoyable experiences for years to come.
