@CaleBoi25 I don't know the exact validity of this, but I've heard some rumors that Episode 9 of The Amazing Digital Circus has been at least partially leaked online. If you don't want to be spoiled, I'd recommend being cautious about engaging with the show online.

Honestly, I'm probably going to avoid using the internet for leisure at all outside of this site until I've seen the episode properly. I really don't want to have the ending spoiled.

Enjoying the hell out of the 3rd season of Primal. I think it's my favourite current show on TV. It's an R-rated animated show about a caveman and his dinosaur pal, having adventures full of blood, guts and awesome. And interestingly, it's all told without words. Just visual storytelling.

Also just finished the first season of In Treatment. It's an HBO show from 2008 (I missed it at the time), about a psychotherapist and his patients. It originally aired 5 times a week and the first season is 43 episodes long (all 30 minutes). So Monday's show we see him and patient #1, Tuesday patient #2 and so on. Week 2 Monday it's patient #1 again, and so on.

Really good performances if you're looking for bite-sized drama. I hear that the 1st season is the best of the series, but I'll get to the other seasons at some point.

@UpsideDownRowlet I heard the same — apparently the Brazilian dub is online in its entirety

Well, I just came back from watching The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act in theaters with friends, and though it should go without saying,
SPOILERS FOR THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS FINALE BELOW. VIEW AT YOUR OWN RISK. DO NOT READ THE SPOILER SECTION IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN EVERY EPISODE INCLUDING THE FINALE!

Well that turned out to be a very surprising episode all the way through. While I believed the brain scan theory, I didn't expect it to be outright confirmed in the episode, and certainly not right off the bat (it gave me similar vibes to Image_Friend just appearing at the start of Deltarune Ch. 3 like it was nothing). Still, it was very interesting to see the characters react to this revelation which acts as yet another disconnect they experience from their own humanity. I like how later on in the episode Zooble says how Gangle's complex emotions about Jax shows that they're still human.

Of course, probably the biggest surprise of all was Jax's abstraction, and not only that, but the nonchalant way it was presented. He's just gone. Now Jax is my favorite character, so you can be sure that this was a gut punch for me, but it does make sense. He's clearly been super unstable for some time, and the brain scan reveal was likely the straw that broke the camel's back. I think it does a really good job of displaying how delicate mental health situations can be: in episode 7, Jax is saved from abstraction entirely because Pomni conveniently thought she needed Jax to get a key to open the Chinese Room, an extremely minor decision on her part with massive benefit; Episode 9 sees an inverse, with Pomni making only the slightest hesitation to talk to Jax and allowing him to walk off, where he would soon abstract.

Then with Pomni entering Jax's psyche, it's fascinating just how much Jax makes caricatures of his fellow humans to preserve his sense of being "nothing more than a cartoon character." As someone who has only relatively recently started to be more comfortable opening up to people, seeing Jax push Ribbit away when he got scared that he revealed, to the point that she would eventually abstract was heartbreaking for me. It's even sadder seeing how it wasn't an isolated event: when he opened up to his Mom or to Pomni, he pushed them away too (literally he pushed them). His traumatic memory of pushing his Mom to the ground also recontextualizes the recurring thing he does where he just looks at his hand, it's a sign that he's feeling guilty. Finally, with Pomni hugging Jax deep down in his mind space was really beautiful and bittersweet. The whole time I was just praying for it to be possible for him to de-abstract. While that didn't happen, it's nice that he can at least be at peace in the darkness of his own tent.

Caine's appearance was yet another huge surprise, and it's nice to see him have a small redemption arc. (One thing I was pretty confused about, the part where Scratch just appeared on the stage without elaboration... what was the deal with that. After the episode ended I had to ask my friends to make sure I didn't hallucinate it)

Then the ending on the same meal scene as Episode 1, but now with Pomni truly happy, even if she's trapped in the Circus, was excellent.

Overall, I'm really happy with how the episode turned out (even if I was waiting until the very end for Jax to de-abstract). It perfectly hit all the right emotions and made for a very satisfying conclusion to an incredible series.

Amazing/10

@UpsideDownRowlet YES YOU WATCHED IT LET'S GOOOOOOO

I agree with like. All the stuff you said lol. I think they did a great job showing Jax's mental state and making it abundantly clear that even though he was in the wrong, he had "good reason" so to speak.

I also loved learning about the characters' real-life selves! I was so glad to see they all had better lives!

I totally agree, I thought when Caine put Scratch one stage, that he was somehow un-abstracting him or something. I wouldn't have wanted it to be that easy, anyways, but I still don't know what that was supposed to mean lol

@MontyCircus That is an excellent book. Did you enjoy it? Need to read it again myself.
The author also did one on George Lucas, which was also a really good read. Read that one twice. I don't even like Star Wars.

I watched Spider-Noir this week and what a great show. Going into it I knew nothing about the whole Spider-Noir take so I didnt know what to expect. I actually watched it in black and white which just added to the experience. Nicolas Cage was awesome and played the part well. Obviously the show played out more like a 1940's detective show at times more then a superhero show but thats to be expected given what its going for. The nailed the Noir style perfectly IMO. Overall another top notch superhero flick and I cant wait for the next season.
