@jump It's not available on any streaming services I have, and I'm busy watching the last 2 episodes of Seinfeld then I'm going to watch Extraordinary Attorney Woo.

Side note:
So far everything in Andor (Disney+) could have been done in 2 episodes max. Ya it's dragging things out but nothing is happening so far, I'm getting tempted to pirate the show and edit it down to 2 episodes myself... But I don't wanna face charges

I finally finished Seinfeld.

That final episode is my second favourite episode of the whole show, my favourite being Soup Nazi.

@Eagly, lol he doesn't hate animation.

Warner Bros had billions of dollars in debt that Discovery inherited during the merger & he's trying to cut out the fat/redundancies in operations in order to curb the debt.

  • He thinks that the appeal of theatrical releases, HBO originals, & other existing content should be enough to sustain interest in HBO Max rather than pumping money into streaming exclusive titles (this is partially why Batgirl & Scooby! Holiday Haunt were axed. In addition to being tax write-offs, they weren't perceived as "big enough" by test audiences to work as theatrical releases, and which goes against the direction he has for the company).
  • He didn't "kill" Cartoon Network, he merged Cartoon Network Studios into Warner Bros. Animation as he saw two separate studios as redundant. Now, this does mean we'll probably get less new IP (CNS typically worked on new IP while WBA worked with established IP), but he probably views that as a benefit as established IP have a better chance at being successful/profitable.
  • All the animation being pulled from HBO Max (and I assume all the "cancelled" animation projects) are being shopped around to be licensed by other companies/services. It's probably been deduced that they aren't major drivers in HBO Max subscription drive/retention and thus can make more money for the company by being licensed out.

Now yes, this could definitely backfire as it undeniably alienates creatives (it's typically the more niche, experimental stuff that goes first, which also happens to consist of a lot of inclusive/LGBTQ+ content, which has driven some of the narrative that he's making the company more "white"), but his motive for cutting a lot of this stuff has to do with profitability rather than any sort of personal agenda.

IIRC, he even axed (or was really upset about the release of) a Clint Eastwood project (a typically more conservative voice), as it was more of a vanity project not guaranteed to be profitable. Saying something along the lines of "We're in show business, not show friendship".

I'm not saying he's going to be good for the company, and as someone who enjoys anime am kinda worried what this eventually means for Toonami (they already seem to be axing the Toonami/Japanese co-productions like Blade Runner: Black Lotus, Fena Pirate Princess, & the Shenmue adaptation, the latter of which was going to get a season 2 until now), but it's not a personal vendetta against animated or diverse content.

@Eagly I don't know/care about some of the things you have brought up however I do have thoughts on two of those points;

The AEW things was taken out of context, there's still blood and swearing. The issue was there isn't scripted promos (which is why CM Punk has created so many problems recently) so some of the wrestlers have gone in too excessively with their use of bad words, like you noticed they are trying too hard. They were given a friendly reminder from the owner of AEW to keep flying under the sun so they will not get burnt.

I don't disagree with them deciding to change tracks with DC, it's been a mess for ages so a new approach is desperately needed. Even the much celebrated Gregory Berlanti's big idea was to turn the mouthy lefty Green Arrow who typically shouts at other superheroes for not helping poor people to just become a knock off Batman who is also a serial killer to create a tween melodrama connected universe (I am being harsh as there has been some great shows/moments but I'm still scratching my head at some of the choices they make as a comic reader) or letting a Scorsese fan film being slapped with a Joker sticker to help sell tickets. A new level head to green lit better decisions is much needed, however saying that I doubt anything will be fixed soon or at all.

@Eagly Whether DC adaptations are dark or not isn't a concern for me, it's the non-stop indecisive shatter throwing. This is a soft reboot, no wait this is a reboot, no wait this the new, no wait this is a spin off, no wait we need to rush this other film out, no wait what the fudge is this again? etc which with this kinda mess doesn't invite casual viewership or encourage fandom which is stemming from the odd leadership choices and changes, like they almost had Justice League and a connected universe before Marvel but weeks from production they told George Mille (who made the Happy Feet, Mad Max and Babe movies) to not bother.

I'd like to see them draw up a list of capable producers/writers/directors invite them in for a casual pitch/chat to see if they have a premise for a non-Justice League character and commission stand alone movies/shows based on that, whilst giving enough of a breather for the heavier hitting characters like Superman. Marvel created their studio without Spider Man or X-Men by far their biggest names so DC could be able to do the same as there's plenty of characters with interesting premises not seen before. A conspiracy theory led thriller with The Question, a Practical Magic-esque take on Zatanna with lots of Las Vegas special effects, a Hard-Travelling Heroes road movie, adapt Grant Morrison's Animal Man run, have an ultra masculine testosterone 80s action homage/satire with Lobo etc.

@Eagly I dunno Flashpoint just seems more of the same, a confusing spin off reboot movie of a character who already has a tv show but is unrelated to that, which was put into place by a boss who has been replaced multiple time already. As much as people like to slag off Marvel at least they have kept their product consistent which seems to be lot harder than people give them credit for.

Ooo, I found something good on Netflix, "Dracula". Forgive me if I'm late to the party. From 2020, Dracula, a three part mini series, written by Mark Gatiss & Steven Moffat. Since it's from the BBC, I'm assuming UK people have seen it already. It's new to me. I've learned to trust Steven Moffat, since he's written many of the best Doctor Who episodes & specials, and he usually has very clever & entertaining sci-fi plots/mysteries. Just finished episode two, and I've been quite pleased.

(Yeah, I know Mark Gatiss writes Doctor Who, too. He's fine.)

@WoomyNNYes I remember Dracula, yeah it's really good show up until the last episode. The disappoint of The Sopranos, Lost, Neon Genesis Evangelion and all the other infamous bad finales is nothing compared to Dracula.

If you're a fan of Moffat then watching Sherlock (the Benedict Cumberbatch series) is a must, the first couple of seasons are fantastic telly.

Yeah, Cumberbatch as Sherlock, written by Moffat, was basically a Doctor Who Doctor-type character.😆 That's how it seemed to me, anyway. I watched it when it came to BBC America channel. I think it came to the US 6-12 months after it released in UK.

Man, it's funny. All the way up through college, I thought Doctor Who was for nerds & weird. And then I realized I liked science fiction. And then one day, circa 2009, BBC America was playing a David Tennant episode of Doctor Who, and this time I got sucked in. Then I watched a couple other episodes. Then watched all Doctor Who since the 2005 reboot. And then I realized I like nerd things. And am nerd.😁😁

Hey @everyone look at what @WoomyNNYes said, he's just admitted he's a nerd, get him!!!

I think geek culture has expanded to the mainstream over the last 10+ years now so no one cares anymore, it's easier to get "it" when it's plastered all over the place rather than it being hidden away to make you think it's something weird or unlikable like it was back in the good 'ol days.

It is odd I will go to the gym with my Triforce gym bag and I will get a few people come up to me to talk about Zelda however even though 99.9% of the time my t-shirt will have a band on it yet no one has ever come up to me to talk about music. Just from personal experience most of the people I know who go to the gym will like superhero, sci-fi, geek stuff partly because they want to look like a muscle bound superhero hence why they are there whilst most of my drinking buddies have not got a clue about such things and the conversation go towards music, politics and life.

My favorite part was when She-Hulk said "It's She-Hulking time!", then Abomination said "It's Abominating time!" and when Hulk said "It's Hulking time!" and that one guy said "It's creeping time!" Great final episode needs more Daredevil boinging She-Hulk though.

@Kermit1 If you want to see something really, REALLY shocking on the internet all you have to do is just google your favourite food plus the word cancer.

What it will pop up with is the reason why that food will give you cancer and every time you take a bite you will think about how it's giving you cancer from now on.

Just started watching The Owl House for the very first time on Disney+ (halfway through the 1st season as of now) and holy f*** I'm addicted. I'm not usually a big fantasy kind of guy (I'm much more into realistic fantasy like Pokemon and Splatoon for instance) but the way it's done in this show so far is so captivating in not only making it feel like a real place but also one where there are both limits and no limits, it's amazing.

My favourite part so far though has to be the characters: god they are all so fun. Each one of them gets to have both their kooky moments and their heartfelt moments (with it feeling equal for almost all the cast in that regard) and the dialogue is unironically brilliant (never in my life did I think I'd see the words 'degenerate' and 'shipping' used in an actual Disney Channel cartoon). This is also helped by the fact that every episode feels like it connects to the over-arching narrative, with plot points from previous episodes actually coming back in unique and interesting ways a few episodes later (as an Ace Attorney fan, this is giving me major TGAA Resolve vibes AND I LOVE IT).

In short: highly recommend giving it a watch, this'll probably be my new addiction for the next week and I am going to be heartbroken when it's over.

Also was that a goddamn Metal Gear reference?!
