@jump
I will watch what I want to watch, and you can watch what you want to. But no, I won’t watch stuff that goes against my morals just because they are “ powerful storytelling devices”.

Along with any other hard swear words. Most of the time I just feel they are unnecessary add ons.

I second this. Though I can stomach a good deal of swearing. Also I watch Seinfeld sooooo.

@blindsquarel @HotGoomba The same way watching Harry Potter doesn't make you a witch or watching Star Wars doesn't make you a Jedi it's entirely possible to watch a show with swearing or sex and you don't have to swear or sex yourself.

The thing is there is a direct correlation of the best shows often featuring swearing, sex and violence because they are often the made by the more bold and ambitious storytellers who don't want to tell bland boring stories.

@Rambler In fairness The Thick Of It is dated, da yoof of today wouldn't get the Alastair Campbell homage/satire.

@jump
. All I know is that if something makes me feel like I have done something wrong, then I probably shouldn’t watch it. And watching those type of things make me feel that way. And there is nothing wrong with not wanting to watch movies/ tv shows with hard swearing and sexual content.

@blindsquarel I never said there was although I do actually find it abit closed minded myself.

I’m pointing out that instead of complaining about these family friendly shows about jaunty costumed hero hitting bad people are wholesome yet boring and bland then watch shows that’s try to be more than boring and bland even if they do say ****breath, foot***** or ****face.

@Eagly is the season completed yet? I love Archer even the iffy coma seasons but I generally wait for all the episodes to come out before watching a season.

It will be interesting to see how they handle having no Mallory in the show now. It was such a vital cog in how the show worked so it will be hard to imagine not having her anymore.

Ok. I'll admit. I unironically liked the latest episode of She-Hulk. And no it's not just because of Daredevil.

Anyways, can't wait for the last episode to stink like with Wandavision, Falcon, and a little with Moon Knight.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy there.

@HotGoomba
The thing that made me hate the moon knight finale was when they didn’t even show us the final fight. That was not the time to tease Jake lockley.( I think that is his name.)

@Eagly neat. I think I know the one you're talking about. Was it the one with zoom and fishy.

@Eagly I actually haven't watched much supe shows and movies outside of the MCU, but I definitely want to change that sooner or later.

I actually haven't seen Ms. Marvel beyond the first episode and I've heard mixed things about it, so I'll just form my own opinion when I finally finish the show in 2034.

And I do agree that She-Hulk is one of the best Marvel content of this year. Still deciding if I liked this more than Multiverse of Madness or not, but it's definitely way better than Thor LAT. And still looking forward to Wakanda Forever.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy there.

Kermit1

I didn't like anything from Marvel for the past 2 years

People are so weird, they have gone from She Hulk is terrible to one of the best shows of the year within a day. lol

@Kermit1 All of DC is a crossover really. DC was largely built up on acquisition of other comic companies like Fawcett who created Shazam, WildStorm who created Gen 13, All American who created Flash, Quality Comics who created Plastic Man, Fox who created Blue Beatle, Charlton who created Peacemaker etc. I may also be remembering it wrong but I don’t think DC owns Wonder Woman, it’s licensed from the creators family and the rights can be reverted back if DC breaks the agreement by no longer actively publishing Wonder Woman comics over a set period.

@Rambler Is Tromeo and Juliet rated for all ages though?

The Thick Of It has ruined politics for me. I follow Allastir Campbell on twitter but he keeps just making insight comments on politics rather than all caps sweary messages, he's nothing like Peter Capaldi in the show!

@Eagly Yeah I'm interested in both Marvel specials, especially GOTG.

Got around to rewatching Neon Genesis Evangelion for the first time in about a decade thanks to the recent Blu-Ray release, and while nostalgia probably plays a part, I definitely think it (mostly) still holds up.

I'm going to buck convention though and say I think the first half of the series is probably my favorite part of it. The animation & mech designs are wonderful, and it comes from an era where the anime world carried some sort of respect for military tech (+ cars & guns) & it wears it's appreciation on it's sleeve, which I always thought was cool (my favorite episodes might be the one where they siphoned off electricity from all of Japan to fire that rifle, & Asuka's introduction where they battled on the UN fleet). This is broken up by a surprising amount of light hearted levity that breaks up the drama. Yes, Shinji (& others) clearly has emotional problems, but I think the first half of the series generally does a good job of showing him slightly starting to open up around those in his life.

Of course it takes a much more of a dramatic tone in the latter half, and my favorite elements of the series start taking a back seat. However it does attempt to delve deeper into the convoluted lore which I do enjoy trying to piece together, and heck, maybe the critics are right and it is a bunch of nonsense with no greater purpose, but I still like to think I come away with it each time learning something about it I didn't know before.

Of course we all know they depleted their budget by the last couple of episodes, not being able to end it as intended. That said, while they are my least favorite part of the series I think they do well enough with what they have to work with (I think I would have been more satisfied with it had it confirmed that the "possible reality" short had been confirmed as the canonical ending, given how I feel about the lighter moments).

I missed this originally. I never said people should be forced to watch. I doubt they would be able to appreciate it either if someone sees characters talking about sex is like watching hardcore naughty videos then I’d doubt they would be able to process more complex, mature and powerful topics often associated with adult rated shows.

What I am saying is I disagree with that is “unnecessary” since it is a legit storytelling device since people do swear and have sex it in real life and calling such things “morally wrong” comes off a hypocritical when talking about shows which celebrates violence by having people hitting each other to resolve conflicts rather than through healthier methods like negotiation.
