Andor (Disney+) - I took a few years off from streaming any of the Star Wars shows (& streaming anything, TBH) after getting burned out after watching a bunch of them (and a couple of the latter ones, like Obi-Wan & Boba Fett, started feeling a bit cheesy), but man what a show to come back to! It definitely could be a bit slow at times, but the world building was immaculate & what action it did have was exciting. It's perhaps the closest any of these Disney SW shows have come to achieving the feel of "prestige TV", and I look forward to seeing what they do next now that he's in the rebellion proper.
Ranma 1/2 (Blu-Ray) - Been collecting (& watching through) this since the spring, and I'm finally down to the last OVA episode. It's been really fun revisiting this one & I must have dropped it when I watched it online as a kid as I swear I've never seen the later episodes (past episode 70 or 80 I'd guess), so it's been a real treat. They pretty much stop introducing new recurring characters maybe 60 or so episodes in, but the cast is so fun I never really got bored.
Shogun (Disney+) - Heard a lot of good things about this one, and it was pretty excellent. One of those shows where you get really attached to some of the characters & it's pretty gutting (no pun intended) when they kill them off. Kinda disappointed that we never got to the big war, and it looks like it may be delayed further if not entirely avoided based on some late show manoeuvering, but I'm definitely interested in seeing where it goes from here.
Those About to Die (Peacock) - Didn't finish. Really only subscribed for the month to catch some Olympics stuff & decided to check this out on the side because I like sword & sandal stuff. Definitely a 6/10 type show at most, and though I was enjoying it well enough because I enjoy some gratuitous gore & nudity as much as the next dude, I wasn't going to resub for another month just to finish the last few episodes.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
@FishyS, I'm sure I'll watch it eventually, but I'm not in any hurry (both because I just spent the last several months watching through the OG, and partly because I watch so much anime on Blu-Ray I like doing something a little different when I stream a show).
Animation does look slick, but I will admit I prefer the visual design of the OG's 90's style (I think the remake's designs are probably closer to the manga which I'm sure will be a treat for purists, but TBH I prefer how Nabiki & Genma look in the OG).
I'm just streaming shows currently. Here are examples of shows I'm binge watching:
Kevin Can Wait. I like how Kevin James (Kevin Gable in the show) was as funny as his role as Doug Heffernan on King Of Queens. Gary Valentine too, but he was Kevin's brother Kyle. All and all, Kevin delivered the laughter. (No pun intended.)
HouseBroken. Honey the poodle led the group anonymous. Two more things: Shel was too old, and Chief was veeery ecstatic.
Glenn Martin DDS. With the stupid Winnebago after Glenn sizzled down the home. I'm still waiting for the moment where Connor gets "blinded".
So there you have it! I'm still streaming shows currently, but those are the only ones I remember.
Are there any TV shows that you loved, but revisited after say, 5-10 years or more, and then just not got on with at all to the point it was unwatchable or you just hated it?
I have watched a few favourites last seen 10-15 years ago in recent times.
Things that held up and I still loved - Everybody Hates Chris, My Name is Earl, American Dad. Rewatched all (available) seasons.
Things that I once loved but now think are awful Roswell, Scrubs + Cougar Town (same creator, interestingly). Couldn't do more than a few episodes.
In a way it makes sense that humour would change from early 20's to mid 30s, but also interesting that some things were funnier and could appreciate even more.
Recently started watching Monster High, the Nickelodeon cartoon series. So far the show's good. Tells the story about a human named Clawdeen, who has a strong interest with monsters. For her 15th birthday, her father gives her a special necklace called the moonclaw necklace, something that belong to her now missing mother. The necklace led her to a school just for monsters (actual spoiler) she eventually learned that she was a werewolf, can turn into one, making her part monster and enrolling with the school. She also makes friends with Draculaura and Frankie Stein, they pretty much go on different adventures each episode, and there's a story arc about Clawdeen trying to find her mother, which I'm hoping she does find.
So far, a good show, glad I gave it a chance. It's filled to the brim with monster puns too. Not bad to enjoy my October with.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
