@Anti-Matter Those kind of rhythm games are pretty niche and the music is fairly different from the rest of the games in the tournament. At the end of the day this is just for fun and to help people discover new music from games they might not have played.
Victors from the first matches of round 3 are Final Fantasy VI at 6-2, Super Smash Bros. Brawl with a tiebreaker at 5-5, Lego Jurassic World at 5-4, Rhythm Thief at 6-3, and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon at 6-2. Link to the bracket
I'm more shocked at FF7 Crisis Core only getting 2 votes, I haven't played the game but I thought that was a great song. Though it does sound a lot more chill than most final boss themes, so maybe people didn't think it sounded very fitting.
We're finally getting to the point where I don't have to listen to the songs again to know which one I like more. A mixture of having heard them for previous rounds and more songs I already am all in on.
@Dogorilla Thanks for that, Square Enix doesn’t mess around
Winners this time were Final Fantasy III at 5-1, Splatoon at 4-2, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance at 5-1, and Final Fantasy VII and Okami with tiebreakers at 3-3. Vote here
Emerging on top we have Pokémon Diamond & Pearl at 6-2, Undertale at 5-3, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes at 5-2, Undertale again at 5-2, Sonic ‘06 at 5-2, and Sonic Adventure 2 at 4-3. Link to the bracket
The entries moving on to the quarterfinals are Super Smash Bros. Brawl with a tiebreaker at 3-3, Lego Jurassic World at 3-2, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon at 5-1, and Final Fantasy VII at 4-3. Link to the bracket
Edit: as a bit of a fun fact. I went to hear Main Street Showdown in-game and it does absolutely end just like that. It loops back to the start after the cut.
Close matchups all around with Metal Gear Rising Revengeance winning the tiebreaker at 4-4, Pokémon Diamond & Pearl winning 5-4, Undertale at 5-4, and Sonic Adventure 2 at 5-3. Link to the brCket
Finale is more narratively cohesive then Megalovania too imo. Much more leitmotifs, and one of the best fist pump moments in gaming in my opinion, escaping the horror of Your Best Nightmare and finally reaching a point where you could hit this nightmare fuel. This fight was probably the peak of Undertale for me. Megalovania is a great song, but it doesn’t have any hidden depth, by design. You’re this horrible monster, you don’t deserve any backstory or lore.
Entering the semifinals will be Super Smash Bros. Brawl at 5-4, Final Fantasy VII at 5-4, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance at 5-3, and Sonic Adventure 2 at 5-3. Link to the bracket
One pretty easy and one impossible choice here.
One-Winged Angel wins in a layup. Tabuu is great, but it’s One-Winged Angel.
Now Live and Learn versus It Has To Be This Way is much harder. I guess at the end of the day, it comes down to which is the more cohesive listening experience, and it takes It Has To Be This Way just a bit longer to rev up.
