Topic: The Flaw with Preording

OP, question for you: Do you feel stores should break street dates as well? After all they "have it in stock".

More like "the flaw with not preordering".

Never have that trouble since I download most of my games now a day and I pre-order only CE and LE games since I know they are more in demand and limited in physical form like TFF: Curtain Call and Metroid Prime Trilogy.

Sorry to hear about the situation. I can only imagine they had extra copies that was for non pre-orders but was sold out by time you reach the counter. Similar thing happened to my co-worker's son who didn't reserve, but they went to gamestop friday afternoon. Told them to check back monday.

Here's a quick little guide for pre-orders. Are you getting...
A: A physical copy, or
B: A substantial discount or bonus with the pre-order?

If your answer to both of these questions is no, then don't pre-order. Wait for release day and reviews to actually see if the game is what you want or even if its any good. The amount of pre-ordering people do nowadays is ridiculous - it's like you want to be ripped off by bad products.

Hey so your saying that if you went up to a hotel room and none of the room were taken yet all of them were reserved yet nobody show up to their reservation you would be okay with not being catered to. And yes I did go somewhere else. Also I am disgusted by the amount of disprespect I am getting for asking a question. Grow up.

Except you showed up at midnight, which is the first hour they can pick up the game. No rules state that they have to be at the Gamestop immediately. Same rule applies to hotels (though they do have check out times).

Well, if you reserved a number of rooms and the hotel decides to give them to someone else (before your reserve deadline) because "we didn't know if you would really come!", I'm pretty sure you can sue them.

so if i don't make it to a midnight release because i have a day job this equals not showing up for my preorder which i have payed for? so because of this i should have to wait a few days even if i payed months in advance? you must be joking.

Not really. If they preordered it they already paid for it. It would be worse if GameStop let you buy a copy and then told the person who preordered it "Sorry, we sold your copy."

Wait you said you went to a midnight launch for Smash so your counter to Beetlejuice's analogy doesn't hold water. The people that preorder have two days to pick up their game before it can be released to the public. So for the hotel room thing if the room is currently empty but someone is due to check in for their reservation in two days the hotel can't give you their room just because you got there first. The reservation is still in good standing. Now if the person is a week late that is something different.

Also I think most of us have been blunt but still pretty respectful in disagreeing with your view point.

I think we all made our points. Also, let's avoid personal insults in the future.
