@Sunsy haha I’ve seen my fair share of spoilers already
The nearest cinema is over 200KM away from me so it’s not like I’ll be seeing the movie any time soon (and it’s not like the movie is 100% new and unknown), so I don’t mind.
Good morning.
It's 1 June 2025 here.
Also, it's my 1st anniversary of PS5 machine purchase day. 😄
It was 1 year ago I bought PS5 Fat machine and I really enjoyed my PS5 games & some PS4 games that got performance boost on PS5 machine.
PS5 is my biggest hype currently and I got some hype back with my Switch 1 games as I felt way less impressed by Switch 2. That's why I keep watching over the situation of Switch 2, keep my expectations very very low and expecting possibilities goes wrong.
@Mariotag I guess that for that specific GameStop, people were also buying a lot of their gaming stuff amidst the Switch 2 pre-orders? Strange that they cancelled an order you made unrelated to that, but I’m going to assume they maybe didn’t have full stock for some items.
I still wonder why the percentage was so slow when progressing, even when near the end of the game, but who knows. I mostly used Jewels so that I could continue playing harder levels, and used them to draw Medals, but I’m going to admit that I kind of stopped drawing Medals near the end and solely focused my attention to, I think five specific ones and the Starlight Keyblade, which I’ll admit is probably what resulted in me not being strong enough for the later levels and getting stuck right near the end. It’s funny that bad habit dragged onto some other games I played later, like Genshin, where I just focused on the main four characters and rarely drew new and stronger characters to help me progress. Yeah, it’s maybe the worst way I’ve seen an offline version of a game be handled, just removing all progress and gameplay from the main aspect and reducing it to a cutscene viewer, and then keeping gameplay for Dark Road, the most yawn-inducing part of the game for me gameplay-wise.
I can definitely get people being very passionate about the characters they enjoy and wanting them to have a shot in Smash, especially with how characters thought to be impossible to get in Smash actually making the cut. But, I sometimes came across people getting angry at others for the characters they wanted, I recall someone online wanted one of the Pokémon Sword and Shield starters as DLC and all I saw was that person getting hated on for that, but that was on Twitter, which is infamous for its negativity and how harmless posts precede to escalate in strange ways, and that, combined with how some people got toxic when it came to Smash speculation, it was just bad, though I think Nintendo Twitter was also negative in general, from what I saw when Twitter’s web version was still usable. Yeah, I think a lot of people find that a majority of the DLC characters have significant advantages against most of the base roster, and especially characters apart of the OG Smash 64 roster. But, I think the only DLC characters I’ve seen complaints for is Banjo, Hero, maybe Byleth, Min Min and Steve, but I can’t really comment on Min Min since I’ve never played her before, but I know Banjo’s complaints are from his moveset being campy and spammy, and Hero’s from RNG with most of his attacks.
Still on the topic of gaming Twitter, I remember this bizarre moment when I was going around on the Smash side of Twitter. There was a YouTuber who made a tweet saying he found it strange that the Luminary variant of Hero was the only variant that got an amiibo and he included a mock-up showing four different Hero amiibos. Then I curiously read the comments, and I can’t remember how it started, but two users got into an argument over Byleth being in the roster (since lots of people think FE has too many characters in Smash and have little differentiation) and then, some gimmick account came out of nowhere in the argument and made an unfunny and offensive joke about a real-life tragedy, and all I remember after was the original poster and the people arguing basically going “what the heck dude?” I’m kind of glad that they made the web version of Twitter unusable, because I can’t imagine how increasingly worse the site became over the years, but it sounded like it was already getting worse in 2019-2020 from what some users said. I usually used the web version of Twitter to look at gaming stuff but also art and movie-related stuff, though I was usually recommended those whenever I looked at Nintendo content.
Everyone sees summer as the month of fun and free time, but I see it as the month of sweating and heat! Again, I always dread it every time the new year starts.
Yeah, actually I’m realizing it now but I just realized that with a lot of the Switch user base transferring their data over to the Switch 2 and the enforced Terms of Service, you could potentially say goodbye to years of game progress and account data even if you make a genuine mistake, which makes the thing sound more worrying and stressful, really does mean everyone owning a Switch 2 has to be extra extra careful now compared to the first.
I can absolutely get your feelings when it comes to not knowing the answer to something, for me it bugs me a lot when someone won’t tell me something and I can also be a bit pushy when wanting to know, also because it makes me a bit paranoid at times and I begin thinking of things that bother me, like thinking of a bunch of usually negative possibilities over the answer. Sorry about what’s been going on with your friends, it must bother you a bunch not knowing why one of them is ignoring you and still hasn’t told you why even after so long…
For those who don’t know, I love Tears of the Kingdom, and especially the character of Sonia. Well guess what? My current favorite game, Palia, has Sonia’s VA playing two of the characters!! (The characters in question are Hekla and Najuma, for those wondering.) I did not know this until today and it makes me love the game even more!
Bored so popping in and randomly saying hi, hoping everyone is having a good day or had a good day. It’s crazy that the Switch 2 is almost here…I won’t be having one for a while but I hope those that are will have fun with it this week! Hoping to hear good stuff about it and MKW.
I wonder what everyone’s been up to. I’ve just been playing Colorful Stage on my phone since somehow, my Xbox’s HDMI port broke and it’s unusable for now. I’ve been playing some songs in Colorful Stage on Master, mostly to challenge myself and for fun since I’m used to playing Expert, and I actually full combo’d some Master charts, including some I struggled with! Specifically, Yoidoreshirazu, ENVY BABY, Mischievous Function (or as its better known, Fukkireta), A Word, Hibikase, Piano x Forte x Scandal, and The Vampire. Though, I realized my hands get shaky when I play some Master charts, on top of my taps being a bit delayed…I think I just get extremely nervous with harder charts haha.

If you’re curious, the character in my PFP is Flippy from Happy Tree Friends.
Anybody else feeling a bit sad that the Switch generation is coming to an end? That's how I'm feeling. I guess it's because of how long the Switch been around, and how it's gotten a ton of great games over the years. Maybe I get too attached or something.
@Pastellioli Yeah, drawing can be a little involved, with how much detail you could add and everything. There's a bunch of different pencils you could use too, like 3B and HB. I do like drawing on my sketchbook sometimes for fun. It's nice doing fun things during the night... but then I would get too tired.
Oh that's cool your dad was huge into Michael Jackson and that his music has been iconic to you. I wouldn't hear his songs until quite a bit later though. I do like listening to music from the 80s and 90s too, since I've grown up with a dad who's always been huge into music.
Oh, is KHUX somehow connected to the whole storyline? If it is, that's pretty ridiculous. Since not everybody's into mobile games and stuff like that. I hope so too, some people might have missed out on some lore and other stuff.
Yeah definitely. There have been a few things about the Switch 2 that don't sit well with me, but bringing over the NSO retro game apps - soon to be known as the Nintendo Classics apps - without starting over, was a good move on Nintendo's end. Yeah, I did notice Banjo-Tooie is a bit darker than its predecessor... I don't mind that so much, but I do prefer things being more cheery and stuff. I remember Tooie's first-person shooter segments, those can take some getting used to. There was a boss fight in that FPS viewpoint that gave me some trouble, and I especially remember the area in Glitter Gulch Mine where you'd try to find all the dynamite and deactivate them... that took me quite a few tries! Ah yeah, I've raced Canary Mary in Glitter Gulch Mine, the one where you're on a handcar, and as I mentioned before, it's pretty terrible with how much you have to button mash. I can already imagine how much worse that later race is.
Yeah definitely, I think when I get a Switch 2, I'll just do it the old-fashioned way, just transfer from one system to the next. That seems to be the safer option. Oh, I forgot about another detail. If you pick "I don't have a Nintendo Switch 2 yet," you'll also have to deal with a deadline to get your Switch 2, and download the transfer data that's left over. That deadline would last for a year, and if it's past the deadline, your transfer data gets deleted. It is plenty of time, but that would be incredibly depressing if that were to happen, alongside your Switch having to be formatted. So generally, I would not recommend that option unless you're trading in your Switch for a Switch 2, or some other similar scenario, as long as you know for sure you're getting a Switch 2 within a year upon doing the server transfer.
Yeah, it's a big reason why I like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom so much. I did hear that outside of some technical issues, Scarlet and Violet are pretty good. I just saw they'll be running in 60 FPS on Switch 2... I think if I get even more into Legends Arceus, I might give Scarlet a shot, kinda want to play it on Switch 2. I have a few Pokemon games on my 3DS as well.
That's cool, I did see a few episodes of Happy Tree Friends a long time ago. I'm not too huge in the violence either, lol. On a somewhat related note, I'm not too huge in anything made for mature audiences. I don't like Grand Theft Auto for example, and I generally prefer my stuff to be more family-friendly. Those make me feel good, especially nowadays since I've been going through some troubling times.
Oh yeah I remember Enter the Gungeon, I've played it on PC a good while back. I didn't make too much progress in that game either, lol. Good to hear your HDMI port will get fixed soon.
Me personally, in Mario Kart, I like playing as a variety of different characters, mainly classic ones, haha. I tend to pick Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, or Toadette. (Might be an unpopular opinion, but I don't like picking villains and I'd much rather be the good guys/gals.) Yeah I hope so too, if it does have a lot of content, that would probably make me feel a little better about the price. That $80 price tag stung me and many others pretty hard. Hoping to see Nintendo Life's review on the game, it should come out within a couple days.
@Sunsy I can't blame you, it's nice to remember such positive moments, like you getting to see Trolls Band Together early. I still remember when I got to see Frozen II in theaters, that was a nice memory for me... I have the movie on blu-ray as well. I like reminiscing on when I went to an amusement park, too. Not every ride appealed to me, but quite a few did, and I still had a lot of fun.
Yeah definitely, it was cool getting that game the day before it came out. I've not been to a midnight launch either. Oh, I just remembered! I've done a similar thing with New Super Mario Bros. 2 when that came out. I opted for a digital version since it would give 100 coins for Club Nintendo. I do remember downloading the game on midnight, as well.

AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
@Pastellioli It was the website iirc. The local store actually did not sell out of Switch 2 preorders for quite a while. But the site was utterly devastated. I'm kinda angry, cause of how much the experience highlighted. Gamestop employees are not treated well, and more or less told they need to get a certain level of sales to stay in business. The customer support team was not permitted to do anything to help, and I got the impression they were trying to cover the issue up on a corporate level.
I don't understand the percentage either, but for that game, you really should have focused your jewels on medals and your other efforts on upgrading keyblades. You only start with 3 slots open out of 6 until you upgrade them after all... Any gacha demands progressively stronger characters and abilities afaik. And yeah. It was handled poorly.
Honestly, fair points. Twitter itself depended on where you looked. Smash became a game where, not only could any gaming character get in, but any majorly obscure character could potentially earn themselves a new main game too.
Omg wow. Yeah. FE in smash has a bunch of jokes associated. My personal favorite is "all the Marths". Cause look, you have Marth, you have Fire Marth, Buff Marth, Dragon Marth, etc etc.
I still use Twitter's web version. How was it made unusable?
Heat affects me a great deal more than it should, and is insufferable.
Yup. It's stupid. It's like they want more piracy, which is insane. I started noticing differences in Nintendo's practices when Switch launched. It really does hit hard. It's worth mentioning that, legally, consoles are only leased to you, and games only licensed....
Yup. It's an incredible anxiety inducer that has the opposite effect of what is intended. Ignoring someone is supposed to be a sign to "leave them alone", but to a person's mind, it moreso has the effect of "wtf happened?", drawing them in more than before...
I'm hoping to see at least one of them tomorrow in person. It'd be a small miracle for that to work out though.
@MarioVillager92 Yeah, I have been having a sort of dilemma as of late with my art style, and details…I’m thinking “do I want a detailed style, or a simplistic style?” I know not all art has to be detailed, but I love detailing it, but I’m trying to find a style that will work. I’ll keep trying to draw, but I won’t lie that I’ve been feeling demotivated as of late because of my art style dilemma and seeing other artwork for inspiration.
Yeah, Michael Jackson’s music has been apart of my life for a while, and his music is still one of my favorites, and lately I did hear some newer songs from his posthumous album Xscape. I’ve been listening to more modern and newer music, but I definitely need to find more 80s-90s songs, and other songs from artists I’ve been listening to lately.
Yes, also since KHUX is set before the entire series, but now it’s going to be used significantly more in the main storyline now, at least from what was shown in the KH4 trailer and the fact that the cancelled Missing Link game was going to be closely connected to KHUX. But, having it be a mobile game and closing it was a mistake since characters and plot points are going to likely be used in the new saga that their starting with KH4, and not everyone playing KH is into mobile games.
Yep, for years I’ve heard everyone wanting the next console to bring the Switch’s library back, and it did! Yes, Tooie’s darker, but I do understand people liking the more cheery tone of Kazooie and preferring it, though for me I didn’t mind it since the tone wasn’t overly dark, since the silly humor was retained. The 007 shooter segments were a bit difficult for me to get used to at first, especially with the navigating, and the one time I hated it was in a later world called Grunty Industries, which is maybe the worst level in the game in terms of difficulty and how convoluted it gets, but I still agree with the Glitter Gulch Mine shooter segment, I got super confused at first until I realized your supposed to hit the dynamite and not directly shoot at it or else the mine explodes. The races in the game are annoying, the first Canary Mary race was kind of bearable besides some of the mashing gameplay, but only because she’s easy to defeat at that part, it’s near the end the second race with her that’s even worse, and the developers were fully aware of how annoyed players got from the races that the next game, Nuts & Bolts, included a joke referencing it.
Yeah, wouldn’t want to do it any other way that’s risk save data being permanently lost! I never heard of the deadline transfer data part, that sounds crazy, and given the Switch 2 is probably going to be sold out frequently over the next few months from high demand and some people sticking to their OG Switch for a while instead, choosing that option doesn’t sound too good…
Yeah, I did like exploring quite a bit in BOTW, finding and discovering things was super exciting when I played it! And I did see a bit about Scarlet and Violet’s Switch 2 performance, it is good to hear that although it isn’t the complete greatest, it at least performs better than on the OG Switch. I still remember when those two came out, I saw so many videos showing plenty of performance issues and glitches. When I played I never encountered any glitches or poor performance maybe besides a few occasional but infrequent FPS drops.
Yeah, it was cool that despite being a comedy show, that it tried fleshing out one of if its characters and tried to start a series telling separate storylines for a few of its characters, but I definitely am not too into the violence, I only watched it because I was interested in the characters and the look of the show. I understand not being into M-rated games because I’m not into a lot of them besides Conker, which now that I think about it, that was the only M-rated game I played recently and was into, and the rest of the games I own are E or T-rated, I definitely get preferring happier and cheerful games!
That was a fun game, so I am hoping that I have fun with the shooting gameplay in the Crackpet Show when my Xbox’s HDMI port gets fixed soon.
In MK8D, I mostly played Tanooki Mario, but I also played as Peach sometimes and the crossover characters, but it was mostly Tanooki Mario. I rarely played as the antagonists or any other characters. I definitely think them eventually going the DLC route a little after the game’s release will likely happen, and I feel like that’s what they’ll do when it comes to possibly releasing more characters for the roster, because while I do like the bigger roster and them adding minor enemies and characters to the cast, some specific characters being no-shows makes it feel a bit incomplete. Yeah, I hope that the reviews on Switch 2 games are good, I definitely think I’ll hear a lot of positive buzz on a lot of them!
@Mariotag Yeah I think I heard and saw that almost everyone put in their pre-orders online, so the websites crashed or were slow. I have heard a bit from posts online that GameStop employees aren’t treated well unfortunately, and how some think GameStop is getting worse, at least internally and with how some of the higher-ups treat their employees, but also with the interactions some customers had when buying items.
Yeah, I think I should have done so, but I’m sure by the time the game was shutting down, I unfortunately spent a lot of Jewels up on trying to complete levels, so my Starlight Keyblade and a lot of my medals were under leveled and not up to it. If I did level up more of my other medals or drew for more stronger ones, I could have had a chance at completing the game before closing, because I had a large collection of unused medals, including some stronger ones.
Yeah, although Twitter is notorious for being negative, there seemed to be specific topics or sides of it that were more toxic than others, at least before the big buyout. The fact that any sort of gaming character could get into Smash is what absolutely made it exciting, on top of the fact that it helps renew interest in a specific character or series their from.
That was a bizarre conversation I stumbled upon, and it still bewilders me how it derailed into something completely unrelated. I have a feeling the account was trolling for attention, which is just dumb because the joke wasn’t even funny at all and completely unrelated to the original topic. Yeah I’ve seen that because FE has a lot of characters in Smash, there’s a lot of jokes
related to the fact that nearly all the characters are sword fighters or have blue-ish hair like Marth. I never had a problem with FE having a lot of characters in Smash though, but maybe because I don’t really care a lot about who gets into Smash or the characters they pick.
Whoops, what I meant to say was logged out. I remember using web Twitter without an account logged in and I was able to look at tweets and accounts, albeit not being able to interact or like them. Then when Twitter was bought out, they made it so you could no longer use the site logged out and could only use it if you made an account, so I stopped using it because of that. Though, I noticed that when I clicked links to some cited tweets on a few Wikipedia articles, it sent me to the web version of Twitter and I could look at the tweet even without an account logged in, but I can’t see replies or accounts.
I can see some of the ToS leading to piracy since they said that breaking the terms is permanently tied to an account and can get the console bricked, even if it was done unintentionally, like accidentally using a counterfeit or bootlegged game or accessory. I didn’t quite notice the change in their policies or practices until they introduced paid online and NSO, but I remember reading after the launch, that it was something they mentioned prior, so it’s likely something they planned for years.
That gets me wondering a lot about what happened, and I find myself getting extremely bothered if I don’t know what happened if someone is ignoring me or if I don’t know the context of something. It lingers in my mind all day, especially if it’s related to something serious and I’m out of the loop on it. But I have a feeling that could be my paranoia at play too. I have a bad tendency to overthink things and not stop once I’m thinking about it a lot.
If you do see one of your friends tomorrow, I wanna say good luck! Hoping that if you do that it goes well.
“Woah-shi! It’s a double Yoshi explo-shi!” - Yoshi’s Woolly World ad, 2015
If you’re curious, the character in my PFP is Flippy from Happy Tree Friends.
@Pastellioli Ah nice. You started watching HTF, it’s a good show, very heavy on references too. I saw it 15 years ago so I can’t remember much.
I’m not getting the switch 2 this month unfortunately. I need to actually calm down a bit on leisure spending cuz my non-leisure spending is just too much already and some bad irl stuff that happened a while ago costed me a huge penny. So Instead I’ll just relax this month and re-focus on my cooking hobby cuz cooking means I spend less money generally speaking. I cooked a ribeye today and tomorrow I’ll have a chicken thigh with spicy seasonings. Despite being a constantly hungry gal i ACTUALLY get full really fast which is nice! Give me a potato or any protein and I’m set.
I do wish I’ll get switch 2 eventually. I made a panic purchase for a secondary switch 1 a while ago cuz my previous switch 1’s L button broke and I do regret it Cuz I haven’t used my new S1 much at all so I feel I kinda wasted it and that’s what I meant by spending too much on gaming. But hey, some S2 games will PROBABLY be playable on S1 so it’s not hopeless. Sadly I won’t stop spending. I actually need to sub to game pass core to play street fighter 6 with my friends on discord. You know how it is. Hey, at least I get access to funny dark souls 1 messages!!
While things been fun irl, it hasn’t always been fun online. It’s been simultaneously kinda lonely and kinda stressful. I’ve been trying to re-unite with my friends on the NintendoLife discord server ran by Alex and his acquaintances but I haven’t really mustered the courage to break the ice cuz I’m just shy in general. Similarly, this March during Ramadan I was first exposed first hand to the horrors of being a forum moderator, now I fully sympathize with anyone who has the position! My heart goes to each and every one in any similar position of authority. I can expand more in Xbox dms though cuz sadly a lot of it is just silly drama talk that doesn’t belong on a jolly forum like this one and I prefer keeping things light when in a public conversation. You can ask me about it in Xbox chats though. But hey! It’s fun to help people so I don’t regret it one bit!
Gaming wise I guess I’ve been emulating some RPGs on my phone? RPGs are great on small devices! I’d especially recommend dragon quest, final fantasy and Megaman battlenetwork. As for irl I have some incredible news! I got a new car, a Mitsubishi ASX. My previous one was an Outlander, kind of a terrible car. Just bugged out all over on me. I hate when cars are all digital so my new ASX is just analog almost fully.
Also, Eid starts for us tomorrow which means to work for me Nya hahahaha! On top of that, my PTO starts on June 22nd so it’s almost like I have the whole month off haha!
But it gets better cuz I’m actually traveling to Bosnia this month! Heard it’s a beautiful country with tons of nice mountains so I’m really excited especially since I’ve never been to Europe!
The most thing I’m excited about with switch 2 is definitely playing WW and hopefully TP too. I can’t wait. There’s Yakuza too but I’m not too big on Yakuza anymore. I’d prefer gta any day personally.
@Yousef- Yeah, I watched it kind of out of curiosity since I purchased a game on the Xbox featuring characters from the show, and also because I liked the art style (especially the character designs and bright colors) and animation, though I find the choppier Flash animation from the older seasons has a sort of charm to it. I haven’t seen all the episodes, but I did like some of the ones I’ve seen, not too into the violence though. I especially liked the episodes from the Ka-Pow! spin-off a ton. I think one of the show’s greatest strengths is delivering funny humor and telling stories without any dialogue, which the writers said they avoid doing so the show is funnier.
I’m not getting it either (at least right now) but I don’t mind since I have a lot of fun games on the phone to play instead. But I hope the people that do have lots of fun with it! And the cooking stuff sounds very fun! Ribeye is one of my favorite meats to eat, though chicken is my number one favorite, and it especially tastes awesome spicy. I find that chicken tastes really good seasoned with garlic salt and garlic powder, I use those all the time when I’m cooking chicken.
I mainly would like a Switch 2 since some exclusives aren’t going to be playable on the OG Switch, namely DK Bananza, which I found was the most fun and interesting-looking game in the April Direct, and it did give me a small bit of Rareware vibes when I saw some of the gameplay demonstration, so i definitely want to play it when I eventually have a Switch 2. And sorry about the L button on your Switch breaking, that must have sucked. It actually hurts me a lot when a controller I have starts to have issues working or breaks. A majority of the Joy-Cons me and my family had with our Switches started to drift really bad, and the only controllers that work well is a Pro Controller and two other third-party Pro Controllers. We originally had three, but one broke and is unusable. Speaking of that, it’s a relief that they said OG Switch controllers can work with the 2, at least it’ll help save money so you don’t have to get new controllers every time.
Sorry to hear about how you felt, I can understand feeling a bit shy after having taken a break from the site and Discord for quite a while, and moderating forums and stuff sounds like a difficult job! Did some of the moderating go fine in the end? I hope that it did! It’s fine if you don’t want to expand upon it here.
For me I’ve just been playing Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage far more frequently. For a while I wasn’t too active but I’m playing it almost daily because my Xbox’s HDMI port broke, so I can’t see what I’m playing if I boot it up but it’s going to get fixed soon. In Colorful Stage, I’ve been increasing my rank and playing charts on Master mode for fun. I usually play on Expert, and I have Master charts unlocked from either getting full combos on Expert or getting less than 7 good/bad/miss notes, and I have managed to full combo 13 Master charts and got an achievement for that! Some charts are still tricky for me though. Then today, I downloaded an HTF game called Deadeye Derby, which I heard about but for some reason I randomly assumed it was delisted or offline because the game is from a decade ago? To my surprise it’s not, so I downloaded it but I haven’t tried it yet.
I haven’t been emulating old games on the phone lately, but it can be fun, so I imagine playing those RPGs has been super fun! I used to do it a lot a decade ago. I emulated DK64 back in April after they revealed Bananza, but I haven’t touched it since then…while I enjoy Rare’s platformers, I’m not into playing platformers right now but I’m sure I’ll go back to DK64 at some point. I did also try to play DKR but goodness the N64 controls do NOT translate well to a small phone screen. Good to hear that you got a new car you’re enjoying a lot, and I hope you keep liking it!
You must have a lot of free time soon, that sounds great, especially with you traveling! I hope when you visit Bosnia that you have a great time, and it looks very fantastic from the photos you showed.
Yeah, I remembered that the GameCube games are going to be exclusive to that, so it’s going to have plenty of retro exclusives on there too! I’ve heard plenty of people saying they just want it for Wind Waker, which is understandable because I was kind of like that sometimes with some consoles I want haha. It remind me of when I wanted a Xbox but solely because I wanted to play Rare’s games.
After covering the position above me on now three seperate occasions - Jan 2023-Apr 2023, July 2023-October 2023, and May 2025 to yesterday....
I got given the job. No more paid overtime, loads of responsibility and a lot of things to put in place and fix in 3 weeks that havent been done in.....two years.
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
@Pastellioli Yeah. The entire staff quit back in 2015 cause of corporate practices. And I'm still angry about that messed up order.
Yeah. That makes sense. I had a similar issue with Dragalia. By the time I wanted to dive in, the game had updated the necessary specs. My device was no longer compatible!
Sakurai made a point of bringing some characters new games, or trying to garner interest in a new game for some. I doubt it was a coincidence that Marth and Roy became popular in Melee, then FE finally made it out of Japan. Later, Kid Icarus Uprising happened. And Twitter's worst topic imo, was politics. They would ban ppl for complaining about censorship, but if it was in favor of the popular ppl, a group could literally fearmonger, and suffer nothing.
Weird conversation, yeah. And funny meme. The idea that they're all similar anime swordfighters has kinda been derailed with the past couple games, but it's still funny.
Ahh. A vanished comment? Yeah. I didn't like that change. I'm always logged into twitter when I open it up, but fewer and fewer ppl are around.
I still think Iwata was keeping those practices at bay. When switch launched, I was outraged by the sheer disrespect to Wii U, 3ds, and fans of those systems. And yes. Them breaking consoles, in whole or in part, because someone inserted a bootleg, or otherwise non-official copy of a game...is gonna have repercussions. I do hope fans find a workaround..
I am very much the same. Very talky and excited, but when I feel like something's wrong, or there's silence with no idea what to expect, I panic, and get paranoid. I also rant too much.
I did indeed run into on of them at launch! They showed up an hour late for the cosplay contest, in cosplay, as they only cosplayer. We talked at length, with me mostly ranting over my frustrations, cause year and a half of buildup.. And we exchanged contact info, and other info. The person who has me universally muted/blocked wasn't there, but it's a start! If I could just promote communication, I might just be able to at least apologize...I found out he went through some stuff after removing me. Also that he probably got upset cause I complained too much.
@Mariotag Alrighty, I just don't find most animated movie reviews on YouTube useful. Considering most of the time I see a review, I could get what I'm looking for by watching the movie myself, then the review becomes useless since the review is mostly a summary with complaining.
Fair enough, I like Disney but they've done stuff that didn't interest me or stuff I didn't like much. I saw Wish a year after it was released, and I just didn't enjoy the characters as much. Usually I look forward to liking different characters when watching an animated movie, but Wish's characters didn't do anything for me. Though Wish wasn't as bad as YouTubers made it out to be.
@MarioVillager92 I'm not too sad, given how popular the Switch is, I think it's going to continue on for some more years unlike the Wii U having its physical games suddenly end (no joke, I own 3 of the 4 Wii U physical games from 2017). Watching Summer Game Fest, both Sonic Racing CrossWorlds and the Nicktoons game (I loved Nicktoons Unite on GameCube) gave me something to look forward to.
Indeed, it's just been on my mind lately. Those are some good memories, I remember the time I saw Frozen II in theater too.
Nice, I think I bought Freedom Planet on Wii U the day it came out. I also remember getting Splatoon the day it came out, with an Amiibo from my local GameStop. I think I might have pre-ordered Splatoon literally the day before, just to make picking it up easier. Last time I pre-ordered a game was My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure, but I did that online and had it delivered.
Now I think about it, it's been a long time since I bought a game from a store. The last time I got physical Switch games were birthdays and Christmases.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
I don't own a Switch 2 right now, but to those of you who got it, I hope you're enjoying it. Hope you're all staying cool and hydrated, too... it's been getting pretty hot over here. Over here, today was all right, but yesterday was ridiculous in terms of heat.
@Pastellioli That's good you're trying to find your own style. I think my own drawing style more so leans towards simplistic or stylized, since I've always liked cute and cartoony things. But I can do more realistic drawings with the help of still life objects, or in some cases, photo references. I think what made me gravitate towards a cartoony style was that I've always liked animated cartoons and movies more than live-action stuff. I've been like that since my childhood. I loved watching stuff like Disney movies when I was in my single digits, and I'd see my dad play his SNES way back then, too.
Oh that's cool, I've never heard of Xscape. That'd be cool to hear more songs from the 80s and 90s.
They're making a Kingdom Hearts 4 now? Didn't know until seeing your post. I would imagine they would have some sort of synopsis for KHUX once KH4 comes out. I don't see why they wouldn't.
Oh gosh, I remember Grunty Industries. I didn't play too much of that level, but when I first entered it via the regular entrance, I couldn't progress any further. I then got there by taking the train, and then I could actually play the level itself, lol. There's like multiple floors you'd go through, and yeah... it was pretty overwhelming. That was pretty much where I dropped the game. Lol, at least the folks at Rare knew that Canary Mary race has been pretty infamous.
Yeah, probably best to just do the system transfer by having both systems on hand. Here's the page that shows how to do the system transfer to t... I have a Mario edition Switch OLED, and because I'm huge into Mario and it has this awesome OLED screen, I don't feel comfortable giving up this beautiful special edition console, lol. When I do eventually get a Switch 2, I think I'd use my Switch OLED as a secondary console just in case.
Oh yeah finding and discovering stuff in those Zelda games can be great for sure. I've spent so much play time on both BotW and TotK, haha. I don't think I explored every little spot in those games, but I certainly explored a massive chunk of Hyrule in them. Heck, in TotK, I got the maximum amount of heart containers! That was the first Zelda game where I've done so. On Scarlet and Violet, that's good to hear. On a somewhat related note, I know that Link's Awakening and Echoes of Wisdom have had some frame rate issues. I did notice them while playing, but they didn't ruin the game for me.
Yeah. It's one reason why I like game series like Mario, Kirby, and Animal Crossing... plus they're all just fun to play and easy to go back to. And it's not just limited to games, either, I like stuff like classic Disney movies because of how happy and cheerful they can be. They're nostalgic for me, too. I remember you were into Conker's Bad Fur Day as well. Personally, from seeing some footage of the game, I'm not sure I'd like it too much.
Ah yeah I like playing as Tanooki Mario as well! The Tanooki Suit is one of my favorite power-ups from Super Mario Bros. 3, and I love his special sound effect too (the spin jump sound from Super Mario World). Likewise. I'd love to give Mario Kart World a shot sometime... I'll be sure to share my thoughts when I play it. Just a side note, while it can be good to see reviews, I feel it's important to make your own, constructive thoughts on stuff like games and movies, simply by playing or watching them for yourself.
@Sunsy Yeah, there's still some games coming out for the Switch this year and the next. I do want to get Metroid Prime 4, I'm hoping I can use my remaining game voucher towards that. Guess I got too sentimental with those thoughts. I mean, the Switch's time on the market isn't over quite yet, we've seen the Nintendo Direct that was before the Switch 2 one. That reminds me, I remember when the Wii U got discontinued four years after it released... that was pretty heartbreaking to hear. Technically, I do have Breath of the Wild since it began as a Wii U game, except I have the Switch version. That's cool you're looking forward to those two games, I've seen some footage of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds a while back. Maybe I'll try it out. I can't remember, is there gonna be characters and courses based on Sega's other games?
Nice, I've preordered a few Switch games myself last year actually, I've preordered Super Mario Party Jamboree at Best Buy and they even gave me a tote bag as a bonus. The last game I preordered was Mario & Luigi: Brothership, though I thought the game could have been better. Kind of wish I got into Splatoon earlier and played in at least one of its Splatfests, but what can you do. Pretty much same here, Christmas was the most recent time I got physical Switch games as well.

Favorite game: Super Mario 3D World
AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
@Mariotag I didn’t know until maybe 2-3 years ago after that short squeeze that got them on the news that people actually had issues with GameStop, can’t recall all the complaints but I know some of it had to do with the employees.
I’ve never really had problems with game specs rendering titles incompatible with my phone, but I have had similar issues with a rhythm game. I’ve been playing it for almost three years now and while it was a big game when I first downloaded it, the plethora of updates it got made the game and its files increasingly bigger, including an update last September that fully revamped the UI, updated the characters in the game, and introduced new gameplay gimmicks. It’s likely because I have an old 6-year-old phone but while the game is still playable on it, I now get occasional slow-downs (or frame rate drops, which can be pretty ugly while playing), I noticed that the loading screen freezes for a few seconds before I start playing a song, and the game sometimes freezes, though it’s rare when it does so. I’m hoping that it doesn’t get to a point that the large amount of content makes it fully incompatible with my device…the game clearly isn’t intended for older 2010 devices it seems.
Yeah I did hear that Smash is also credited for bringing attention to FE in America and helping it garner American fans. It is cool when Smash convinces its players to also try some of the games that its fighters come from, which did happen with me when I played Banjo in Smash for the first time, even convinced me to get an Xbox and play most of Rare’s game library.
Yeah, I can agree that certain topics combined with Twitter could be negative, mainly ones concerning real-world topics, though gaming was a pretty negative one alongside those because of how big it is on there. Basically, it looked like that any topic that was gigantic or commonly discussed on a daily basis resulted in a lot of arguing and negativity.
It’s a strange one…yeah, some of the memes I’ve seen regarding that have been funny. For me, I don’t really mind FE characters, probably because I don’t play them too much anymore, but I used to main Lucina and Corrin, and I especially don’t mind Byleth because his/her weapon is more unique, on top of incorporating other weapons in his/her attacks. I feel like it’s maybe the presence of the echo fighters that makes people dislike how many of them are in there, given Lucina and Chrom’s movesets are near identical to other characters. Thing is, I remember Sakurai saying that Lucina in Smash 4 was originally intended to be an alternate costume fighter for Marth instead of being a separate character, but I feel like I could be getting something wrong since it’s been a while since I last read on Smash development.
I just read stuff on there for fun, but when they changed it so that you need an account to use it I just didn’t care. But I do wonder why I can still view some tweets by clicking on links on Wikipedia and other sites citing a specific tweet even despite not having an account.
Yeah, it’s only now I’m seeing more sort of negative business practiced being used and put in place. All I really have left to say about the ToS is that it could cause bad issues for those that unintentionally break it. It’s good they do want to crack down on piracy of their modern games and stuff that will actually cause issues, but deciding to apply severe punishments to those that don’t intend to do it but proceed to on accident is gonna have a ton of issues.
Ah, good! So one of your friends and you are on good terms now? That’s good to hear, I hope that things will also work out for you and that other friend who wasn’t there. It’s a good start, and I believe that things will get better.
“Woah-shi! It’s a double Yoshi explo-shi!” - Yoshi’s Woolly World ad, 2015
If you’re curious, the character in my PFP is Flippy from Happy Tree Friends.
@MarioVillager92 Yeah, I used to think I had a consistent art style, but I kept changing it a lot. It mainly comes from the fact I enjoy a lot of different art styles equally. A lot of people like to talk about what art styles they hate, but for me it’s more like I enjoy a lot of art styles but prefer some more over others. I’m kind of trying to aim for a more somewhat stylized art style with a focus on incorporating shapes and lots of color, which I did try doing last year before swapping to a different one. Yeah, when I first started drawing, I used a more 2D art style, but it was supposed to be an anime art style, that I’ll admit, looked nothing like anime until a bit later haha. I did swap to doing semi-realistic drawings about three years ago before changing my mind and doing a different style. I think what convinced me to stop doing semi-realism was that I realized I could no longer draw humans well…I tried to draw an anime character in semi-realism, and it looked horrifying lol.
Yeah, I haven’t heard all of the songs from Xscape, but they are pretty good. I’m surprised I haven’t heard a lot of them until now. They sound different than his songs from the 80s-90s, but not in a bad way.
Yeah, they announced it, I think 2-3 years ago alongside a mobile game called Missing Link but haven’t really provided any new updates besides a few semi-realistic and detailed looking screenshots maybe a month ago and announcing Missing Link was cancelled alongside that update. They do need a synopsis for it so that those that didn’t experience KHUX know the characters from that and the plot points, but I feel like KHUX would have been better off telling it’s story as a console game instead of a mobile game that can be shut down at any point and delisted.
Grunty Industries had me doing a lot of trial and error to complete it. I’m pretty sure there was this awful part where you had to hit a blue Rareware toxic waste drum and avoid hitting green drums, since if you do, it smokes the room up with toxic gas that quickly depletes your health, so you have to make a dash out the room and repeatedly turn on the fan in the room to fix it. But, the drums were all on a moving conveyor belt that got increasingly fast, and it was so repetitive. Grunty Industries is the worst level of the game, as all the mini games and objectives are annoying and repetitive to deal with, and the age of the game and some of the controls make it hard to deal with at times. Again, it’s not a bad sequel, but the large size, constant backtracking and repetition compared to the first game makes it frustrating to play sometimes. Yeah, they were aware of that, in fact, Nuts & Bolts has a lot of sardonic jokes and jabs at fans, but of course in a joking way. The opening part of the game took a jab at the N64 games and their collectathon gameplay, but also had a specific line that was along the lines of “people don’t want to collect stuff nowadays, they just wanna shoot things!” Referring to how people at the time played a lot of shooter games like Halo and Call of Duty and how popular and prominent they were compared to the collectathon platformer genre. I know that opening part bugged a lot of people as they viewed it as Rare trashing the legacy of the first two games, but I feel like that’s maybe to be expected given the series is known for making fun of itself and their characters all the time. Though, I understand how disappointed some fans were at the time, also since it took nearly a decade for a new main game to come out.
I think transferring data with both consoles in hand is definitely the best, plus you could trade in the older console when transferring to the new console is done. I can imagine how good the OLED is, you should definitely keep it when you get a Switch 2 and transfer data to it! And keeping it as a secondary console can help too.
I can’t tell you how fun it was exploring in BOTW and finding all sorts of new stuff, though I never completed the game. And congratulations on getting all the heart containers, I never was able to when playing the previous game and it’s rare for me to sometimes get all items in a game or even 100%ing it fully. I did see a few headlines for those on here, I am a bit surprised they have a few issues running on there, because I would have assumed all first-party Nintendo games would have had all their performance issues ironed out since it’s their own games, but it’s good that those issues are minor and not significant.
I see, I definitely get it, it also applies to some movies and shows I watch too. I did like Conker and I still do, but it definitely is a product of its time with some of the content and humor, and playing it all, yeah, I don’t think you’d enjoy it a lot (on top of the janky and kinda horrible gameplay) plus it ends on a pretty depressing and bad note even after all the stupidity, strangeness, and crudeness throughout the whole game. I think it’s maybe the first time I have played a game that’s intentionally stupid and proceeds to end terribly…
Yeah, I really liked Tanooki Mario a lot out of the rest, and it’s maybe the outfit and some of the added details from the Tanooki power-up that’s included that made me like playing as him a lot. I’ve seen some clips from MKW and seeing some of the techniques people have been using and it’s crazy! One clip I saw was someone playing as Luigi, and he was I think in second place, and then he gets hit by a shell but it causes him to bounce off on top of the person in first place and he lands in front and wins! I was laughing a bit when I saw it haha. It definitely looks cool and fun, and it is good to hear a lot of people are enjoying it, and I do hope you like it when you get your hands on it. Oh yeah, I agree with that a lot! I do enjoy reading and watching reviews, but I like watching/playing the stuff first instead and sometimes seeing other people’s opinions on it for fun afterward to see how they felt about it. I just enjoy seeing others perspectives on something I maybe liked or didn’t like, but it’s especially fun experiencing the game/movie/show for yourself
