@Pastellioli looking at the specs for the TV stand, it supports TVs up to 50 inches. But I e-mailed the manufacturer’s customer support team and asked if it can support anything larger. So we’ll see. And the lifespan of a TV is just what I briefly read online; I didn’t read into much more detail than what Google spat out.
@AstroTheGamosian Oh got it! Hoping that some good news comes out of customer support.
With the lifespan part of a TV, it’s actually usually 5-7, very close to what you said, but it can last for 10 or more if the TV is cared for and undamaged, but it can also depend on what type it is. It’s very interesting because the last thing I would hav thought of that has a lifespan is a TV, but I think all electronics have lifespans too.
@Pastellioli Hopefully they will respond to my query soon. And I do tend to take good care of my electronics. The one I have had for ten years is a 32-inch dummy TV (so no smart features), but the resolution only goes up to 1080p. It's the Insignia brand (Best Buy's in-house brand), and I bought it for about $160. It works fine still, but the new TV is Samsung, which I hear is a good brand.
@AstroTheGamosian I also try to take good care of electronics I have too. I try to make sure they stay away from liquids and don’t fall and break. I’m very cautious with my Xbox console and phone, though my phone is maybe around 5 years old and the battery is a bit degraded, plus I have accidentally dropped it a lot on the ground, though it doesn’t affect the phone significantly. There was also a laptop I had that someone lended me but I accidentally spilled water on it, I was so upset when it happened. Surprisingly it still worked, but several of the buttons were damaged and never worked, but I did get a new one. When my Xbox gets warm when I play, I get super worried that it’s going to break, so I always turn it off and give it a break, but that could just be me freaking out for no reason.
I also have an Xbox controller that drifts a lot, I’m not sure why, but my brother would play on my Xbox a bit, but it could be something like dirt. I wish I could fix the bad controller, but I don’t know how I can. Most of my electronics work but I have damaged a few on accident throughout the years.
Samsung TVs are great. They perform super well, and I am pretty happy that a super old model we have still works.

@EllaTheQueen6 hi, are you doing ok these days? Did the universe end? If so, how was it?
I need to stop dying, I don't even remember the context for the universe ending
Hi guys I'm alive I've just been super busy
Oh my, what a pleasant surprise! I’m speechless at this sudden return, but it’s great to have you back.
now important question, did you win that fistfight with the tornado? Got really worried there for a while.
Yes I did
Let's go play Legally Distinct Pocket Creatures and drink uranium juice!

How’s everyone doing? It’s lunchtime here but I’m not really hungry. All I ate was some bakery bread with cheese on it. Tasted good, but I feel a bit unwell. My body is aching so much for no reason and I feel like I need to nap for a little. My sore throat is going away thanks to the power of cough drops, so I guess that’s good. I’ve luckily not shown any symptoms, good I’m not sick.
Need to go back to watching JoJo later, I am still stuck on the 14th episode because I’ve fallen asleep way too much and have been super busy.
I went outside and heard my cat crying and wailing like he was in some sort of desperate situation.
The issue? A small obstacle blocked the route he usually follows to enter the garden. Mind you this is not the only way in, and I’ve seen him jump over way taller objects (sometimes he remembers he is, indeed, a cat).
But he did not stop until I picked him up and moved him inside myself.
Your cat has his humans well trained.
@Pastellioli Seems like you at least know how to proceed with your art hobby going forward. We all need at least one hobby, though some can be quite expensive lol. I don't think experimenting would hurt if a new technique or tool catches your eye, but that's totally up to you. And I totally get not buying anything and exercising restraint when needed.
I'm glad you can share a hobby (Lol, autocorrect changed this to Hobbit!) with your dad, even if he doesn't game as much these days. I think that sounds like a well-rounded PlayStation collection, definitely more balanced than some out there.
Different time zones and schedules can be difficult to work with, but I'm sure you two will work something out before long. Some other NL folks and I run into this sometimes when trying to set up online Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sessions. Life can be quite a balancing act; I like to picture one of those entertainers who deals with a lot of spinning plates. Sadly when it comes to subscription services, gaming or otherwise, more of them are starting to go the "overpriced cable" route IMO. I kind of wonder if Microsoft will gradually drop the Xbox going forward and focus more on PC in the future, but I suspect the Xbox still has a good market share in many territories. Probably not for years yet if that does happen.
@Tyranexx not enough! According to my parents, he had been “stuck” outside all morning long, but they didn’t care enough to figure out what the tantrum was about.
@Tyranexx I am a bit bad with budgeting when it comes to buying stuff related to my hobbies, so your tips definitely helped!
My dad has a pretty good PlayStation collection I’d say. Loved the PlayStation 4 when we used to have it. Sadly all the data was wiped off of that thing so I’m assuming all my game data is gone. I put so much time into games like Overwatch but I didn’t get to send the data into Overwatch 2 when they closed down the first game. luckily my dad was able to get his data on there, so that’s good! Overwatch was one of my favorite games of all time, I played it a lot on the PlayStation 4 and loved it, but I did sort of fall out of love with it. I played the sequel on the Xbox and it was still fun, but I sort of didn’t care about it anymore.
If only I knew my friends in person we could have schedule online game sessions easier. I probably am going to check if my friend can play with me later this week, just as long as he isn’t busy. He hasn’t really been talking too much because he has been busy with life a lot. I’ll probably snatch that Game Pass Ultimate deal when I find the right time this week.
I don’t think Microsoft will drop the Xbox anytime soon because of a lot of the progress they have made, money, and the more than 40 game studios they own across three game publishers, plus it was confirmed that they were already planning out the next console after the Series X and S. But the decisions they make have made people think that way. On top of that is sometimes poor communication and slow responses to their user base. I can remember that there were so many reports of Microsoft bringing exclusive games to other consoles back in February, everyone was freaking out and it was a huge deal, but they were super slow to respond, I think it took them a week to confirm that their games were going on other consoles, and the Series X and S consoles have been selling less than previous iterations unfortunately. I can understand people being super concerned for the future of Xbox, but I don’t see them dropping it now despite that. I love the Xbox, has some nice games, but Microsoft has done a sort of poor job trying to manage it after that Xbox One fiasco back a decade ago.
Random, but it’s so fun writing random stuff in my signature, but man I’m so bad at being funny lol. I’m so indecisive with what I write in there. I had to change words in my signature to insert a pretty goofy quote. I coulda picked a better one though…I’ll pick a better one later.
@Pastellioli No problem! Budgeting is how I keep control of some of my own spending so I'm not hit sideways by some bills.
Stinks that all that save data was wiped, but such is life. I've heard a lot of good things about Overwatch; not sure it would be my thing, but I know the franchise has quite the following. I seriously did want a PS4 at one point, but that didn't quite happen during its heyday for various reasons. Plus I can't say I like Sony's current direction either, especially with what I'm reading regarding the new PS5 Pro. That thing is so expensive that I'm more convinced that PC is right for me when it comes to non-Nintendo properties and partners.
I'm sure you'll work something out with your friend. I can attest that sometimes even having met someone in person, that doesn't necessarily make online play any easier to set up.
I don't think Microsoft will drop the Xbox next gen, or even the gen after. With the direction they're going though...It really does make me wonder. Communication is extremely important in anything between humans, and that's something that Microsoft (many businesses TBH) isn't too great at. I'll be honest: there's very little in Xbox's ecosystem to entice me right now. It takes several games to make me seriously consider buying a console. Not to mention I'm more than set with the systems I do currently own. To be fair, Microsoft has recovered somewhat well (overall) from the Xbox One fiasco. THAT drew my ire, especially the "always online" bit. I still lived with my parents at the time, and their internet options are poor to say the least. The console would have been a pretty brick most of the time. It's sad as I held them in pretty high regard thanks to the 360 before that.
@Tyranexx Overwatch was super fun when I played it, I think me having played Splatoon a year before the first game released us also why I loved it a lot. Splatoon was one of my first introductions to playing shooter games, so since Overwatch was one, it was right up my alley. I do wish my data didn’t get wiped from the shutdown of the first one, but I didn’t really feel like playing the PlayStation around the time the sequel was nearing release, so it’s more my fault the data was wiped haha. Still found the sequel fun on the Xbox, but I haven’t played it in a while, I’ve deleted it numerous times to save space and it takes so long to download… The new characters look fun though, but I only tried out about two of them. Luckily they have made all of the characters free to play, so maybe I could hop in again if I get time to.
Ooh, I watched the livestream for the Pro earlier this morning just cuz I was bored and curious, and the pricing was insane. I went “at least it isn’t $800” but I think it’s €800 euros in European countries, and the price being $700 in America isn’t really great either. The pricing in all countries seems bad. I don’t have a PS5 or PlayStation console right now so I can’t really comment on it besides the price, but a lot of people seem to really not want to purchase it, on top of it being disc-less apparently. Sad that after all the rumors and build-up it seemingly disappointed a lot of people during the reveal right at the end. I don’t think I’ve seen a console that was priced that high before. If I did get back into PlayStation, I’d probably just try to find a refurbished or slightly used PS4 Pro instead, the prices for the PS5 and PS5 Pro are a bit too high for me.
I can understand there not being a lot of stuff to entice you to get into the Xbox ecosystem. While I do love my Series S a lot, I was only really interested in getting it for Rare’s games, as I played a few of them on the Switch on NSO when I was still Nintendo-only. I didn’t actually have an interest in the other exclusives, I wouldn’t mind giving them a try though. I do think some people buy a console for maybe one game only, sort of similar to me (but with multiple games) but I do think it’s a bit rare for people to do that, also cuz they might be lost or not know what to play next after finishing the game they only bought the console for. I was convinced to get the Xbox super easily, but I also get people only being convinced to get a console for multiple games instead of a specific few.
I didn’t watch that Xbox One video when it first happened, but I watched a video highlighting moments from it and it seemed like a mess. I do think they have done better with the Xbox consoles and learned from their mistakes, but I wonder if the One could have sold more if the E3 presentation wasn’t poorly received and if Microsoft hadn’t had the “always online” thing and the game sharing restrictions, because a lot of people have mentioned that event is what heavily impacted the Xbox user base a lot. It is sad that a few of the poor decisions they have made really made people feel the way they do about the Xbox’s future, but with what they have been doing and saying, it isn’t a surprise they show a lot of concern.
yeah I watched the PS5P reveal with a few of my friends and it was completely pointless to me for multiple reasons.
First, I don't even care about graphical fidelity all that much, I'm much more of a performance guy. So for a console to do the same things as normal with extra graphics isn't attractive.
Second, we all lost our minds when they revealed the price, I thought it would be 599 but even that wouldn't have won me over.
And third, and perhaps most importantly... IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A DISC DRIVE. So for the privilege of playing a disc game on that console (of which I have like 30) I'd need to pay another hundred dollars. Count me out lmao.
I only was able to watch a single episode of JoJo I fell asleep and was so tired and forgot I had my phone in bed. I woke up to only 4% on my phone! Annoyed me when I realized what I did.
Thinking about the PS5 Pro and how insane the pricing is. On a sort of related note, Sony is going to sell refurbished PlayStation 5 consoles soon at cheaper prices, which is good, but people have said that is probably going to make people less interested in buying a Pro. I would like to maybe buy a refurbished console, but I think the controller and games would increase the price.

Sony is going to sell PS5 consoles with disc drives around £389/$400, which saves around £90/$100. It’s pretty cool they are doing that. There isn’t a date for when they are selling refurbished consoles, but I can assume it’ll be very soon. On the US site, I saw that a refurbished digital PS5 is cheaper at $350.
@Pastellioli a refurbished digital ps5 being at the price is so lame given that it’s still more expensive than a Series S.

@Yousef- Oh, I just checked and yeah…I do think digital consoles should be a bit less because they lack a disc-drive and rely on being digital all the time for everything. I don’t mind having a digital only console, but I think a console being digital-only has a lot of risks, like losing access to all your games if the account tied to it were to get hacked. I think the pricing on the refurbished consoles are better, but the digital one could have been a lot more inexpensive since it doesn’t have a disc functionality.
