@Pastellioli Pikachu inspired by squirrels? Interesting. Also, what's been up?

It wasn't just Pokemon. Yugioh too. But they cut so much out of their dubs! Same time though, some of their talents were amazing.

Necromancers, huh? And yeah. I'll just have to play sometime.

A lyric fiasco? And of course they'd go on a blacklist. Nintendo's one of the big haters of piracy.

The art was beyond amazing! And part of it absolutely was the interactivity! I'm not very good at art myself.

Yeah. Tbh I forget what this is in response to, but I definitely feel as though I botch things too often. These past couple years have been further years of broken ties for me.
Again, I don't remember, so I forget the show.

Saw NL put a Direct countdown on the main page. Surprised to see it, and it looks cool! Crazy the next Direct is that soon. Hopefully I can watch it live when it happens!

@Mariotag Yeah, it’s cool Pikachu was inspired by
squirrels, at least in some aspects of its design. Been up to nothing really, but not complaining! Watching some cartoons on Disney+ lately.

Even though some of 4Kids dubs and direction may not have been amazing, I do think the VAs were good and super iconic.

I only just found out nekomatas are necromancers. I remember Yo-Kai Watch had nekomata yokai has some of the main characters but they never (at least from what I saw in the anime and games) had necromancy and reviving powers. They were kind of anthropomorphic cats that inspirited people, though some other nekomata in that show had different abilities.

Yeah, though the fiasco was caused by Kotaku themselves. If I remember how it went, a writer for the site claimed a Persona song in Ultimate contained an inappropriate lyric and tried to back it up with their own transcription of the lyrics containing said lyric. Apparently the writer had meant to only have it published after contacting Nintendo and Atlus for clarification but it was published anyway. Afterward Atlus did respond and said there was no such lyric in the first place and then Kotaku made an apology article to save face, followed by the writer leaving Kotaku. It was just a stupid situation all around but also a bizarre one, because the person could have easily just searched up official lyrics that could have helped them see whether or not the alleged lyric was there or not. Yeah, they got blacklisted but they still should have known Nintendo absolutely dislikes game piracy. Game piracy for modern games is awful, so I don’t get why a game news site would endorse it in the first place.

I love art and doing it but it’s frustrating, though the Miiverse art was gorgeous. The post artwork in Splatoon 2-3 are also awesome as well. I tried drawing using the Joy-Con joystick in 2 and it was so hard lol.

I’m sorry. It does sometimes feel like I make a string of losses and mistakes too much, and it really makes me down and thinking I do everything wrong, but I need to try and get out of that way of thinking. But, I find it so hard not to think like that since it feels like I make mistakes all the time, though bad habits and ways of thinking can take time to break.

@Pastellioli Huh. Still can't help but like Ratatoskr in FEH.
Also, I'm just sorta wondering what kept you away.

Very iconic indeed! But there were only a few directions I was okay with. 4kids Pokemon was definitely better than the next dub group. Sonic X had a number of changes I disliked, but they did at least change parody Eggman from the sub into an actual antagonist. In general, they butchered stuff.

So, necromancers, or can they actually resurrect the dead?

That sounds like a very weird and stupid situation. Not just on not looking it up, but also on someone else sending it out. And yeah. It's a very tough spot.

I never really became an artist. Not enough patience. But yeah, there were very talented artists.

Yea. It's definitely an issue. I need to break my paranoia/anxiety plus compulsion habits in particular.

@Mariotag There’s something about squirrel characters that are super charming for me. I love them in a lot of media, and again, I started liking them a lot after playing Conker since a lot of the characters in that are squirrels.

I see. I do know 4Kids is kind of well-known for making a lot of changes to the anime they dubbed, but I heard a lot of their changes were bad and ruined the anime, or just lessened the quality a bit. I can’t say a lot about a ton of 4Kids dubs besides Pokémon (which I watched a ton), but I thought that was a fine and iconic dub, though I’m not sure what changes they made to the original Japanese version.

Actually, they are just necromancers, so I’d assume they are only able to just communicate with the dead rather than reviving them.

Yeah, I don’t know why the writer didn’t look up the lyrics to confirm whether or not their claim about the inappropriate lyric was in there. If they did that, then they probably wouldn’t have even had to write the article. But it’s also the site’s fault since they uploaded it early when the writer’s plan was to upload it once they got official confirmation from Nintendo and Atlus about the actual lyrics. The article still would have been dumb, but at least it would have actually not spread misinformation over the actual lyrics if they had gotten the info from Atlus first and included it in the article.

I love drawing but I haven’t done it in months. I have so many ideas but it’s also frustrating…I feel like my art progress is stagnant, especially since I haven’t picked up a pencil and drawn in a while!

I need to figure out how I can fix my habits…but it’s so hard because everyday I get paranoid about something unexpected and bad happening, which I feel like is something that happens more often than not. I don’t know, I just can’t help but feel like that almost everyday, but I think it’s a sign I’m just super unhappy in general.

@Pastellioli For me, it's only some squirrel characters. Not that I know many. There's a recent manga on MangaPlus that has a squirrel deity character. You might like that one, and if you get to it before Monday, you might be able to read all available chapters and keep up. Ratatoskr had the bonus of a Kurama aesthetic. And when you see her transformation animation, it's kinda neat.

Eh, I dunno much of the changes 4kids made to Pokemon. I heard the OG Japanese version of Brock was more "creepy". Also they changed the characters to having actual names, instead of being self inserts. Cause Ash's OG name was Satoshi, after Satoshi Taijiri, and Gary was originally Shigeru, after Shigeru Miyamoto. The later characters had original names in Japan too, like May being Haruka, and I think Dawn was Hikari?
Other anime though? One Piece had a dub that made all the guns into water guns. Replaced cigarettes with lolipops. Sonic X removed cultural references, some darker scenes in season 3, changed Eggman from a comedy villain into a serious one, removed swear words, etc. Yugioh's infamous "Shadow Realm" was basically a replacement for characters dying, getting limbs cut off, etc. The dialogue for these shows could often be made a bit kiddier too.

Ah. So, Nekomata can only really reanimate, not revive.

Yeah. So, uh, it was everyone's fault there.

I've had ideas for drawing. I wanted to do a sort of Dragonball manga that was a better GT basically, but I'd have to consider Super and Daima now. And I'd wanted to follow it up with a new story. Sadly, cannot art.

Heh. Relatable. It's me, all the time. Doubting friends, wondering if I'm clean, thinking ppl are ignoring me, upset with me, etc. It's enough to render me non-functional. Which btw, got notice that some of my financial/insurance support is going away. Might not be because of certain stated intents though, as we randomly got given a sum of money that far surpasses what the program allows to be in the bank account.

Thinking of taking another break from Nintendo Life. I've got a lot on my mind lately and my depression is coming back. Physically, I'm OK. Mentally, not so much. Sending my prayers that I'll feel better soon. I wish the best for all you folks as well.

@Pastellioli You're very welcome. Yeah, I wanted to give you a heads up right when I sent that request, my Switch username is MarioVil92 so you could recognize that it's me. On Pocket Camp, ah gotcha, that's a shame, sorry that happened. I would have been upset if that happened to me too, since I got a pretty good amount of progress into the free-to-play version. The in-game fortune cookie items I got in Pocket Camp were all of the flower train items, a lot of the Daisyville buildings, and almost all of the toy shop items, and they're all so cute! My profile picture even has my Pocket Camp villager wearing the floral conductor outfit. As mentioned earlier in this post, I'm not feeling too well mentally right now, but a lot of cute things like those do help me cheer up. A lot of Nintendo's games and Disney's classic movies and cartoons help with that, as well.

Yeah, the default ones are OK, but nothing too special. Before those NSO-exclusive profile icons, I used that 2D render of Mario with a red background. We got spoiled with those NSO ones, haha.

Oh that's cool, I remember seeing bits and pieces of the 2010s Mickey Mouse cartoons, I'd like to see more of those sometime. I have Disney Illusion Island for the Switch, and that has the same art style as those cartoons. It's a pretty good game too actually, it's one of those what we'd call hidden gems. I've been wanting to play Castle of Illusion as well, since I have a Sega Genesis Mini, and that game is included in it. I think I noticed that too on Disney+, some of their cartoons just aren't on there. Thanks, yeah I did have fun writing about my thoughts about that movie. My post isn't super long though. I guess I'm not super great at reviewing movies, so I keep my thoughts short and sweet.

I actually did come back to New Horizons earlier, and I've been having fun with it. I don't have any new bugs or fish to catch at the moment. I know of the time traveling exploit, but personally, I really don't want to do it. It kind of goes against the spirit of what Animal Crossing is all about, and I don't want to mess up my game. I've been going to the Kapp'n islands, but haven't found anything new yet. I do want to play more of Happy Home Paradise, too.

Gotcha, I wonder why if that was the case. I still remember an early sign of Rare not being part of Nintendo anymore when I was a kid. I remember seeing a trailer of Donkey Kong Racing way back when, then we learned that it got cancelled. I wonder how that game would've compared to Diddy Kong Racing had it released... I guess we'll never know.

@MarioVillager92 Sorry about how you’ve been feeling Hope you start to feel better fast!

I deleted the game myself because I wasn’t really playing it, so it was more of my own fault. It does suck my data is gone permanently now, because I did think Pocket Camp was a decent spin-off. Only thing that annoyed me were Leaf Tickets and how long it took to make furniture, but I did have a decent amount of furniture and some nice villagers too, but I don’t think I ever had completed furniture sets, though the items I combined together did suffice. I am happy that the game is still playable even after they closed it. Yeah, I find that Nintendo’s games and some Disney movies do make me feel better or entertain me a lot when I’m bored. I have been using Disney+ a lot to watch films and shows. I still have some stuff on my watchlist when I finish a movie I’m going to watch later.

Yep, the new NSO pictures are great and a welcome change. I don’t think they have updated the OG avatar feature in a while because of that. It would be cool if they got second-party or third-party characters and elements, but I’m fine if they have to just stick to first-party characters.

I watched the shorts a lot and they are so enjoyable and funny. You should watch some more of it I have heard of that, and the art style for that definitely reminded me of the shorts. I have played a couple of Disney games in the past, like Epic Mickey, Disney Infinity (which was fun as heck) and Disney Universe. Disney absolutely has a lot of fun games too. Usually when I talk and review movies on here, I type a LOT. I am going to write about more movies on there because I watched a couple, but I’m thinking of trying to keep them shorter.

That’s good to hear! I actually used to change the time a lot in New Leaf to speed things up lol, but it had consequences like weeds growing, messed up hair, cockroaches, and villagers moving out. I think one time I accidentally messed with the year and I set it to the 2050s if I remember! When New Horizons removed it because they realized people were cheating with it, I just played it normally, but I know some people found ways around it, that being changing the Switch clock and date, but I also never did that. It mess up both the game and the console. I think I did go to the islands in New Horizons, but I remember it way more in New Leaf. I always liked doing that, and it was so fun to get all the creatures and buy souvenirs and furniture. I haven’t played the Happy Home Paradise DLC, but is it fun? I know it’s kind of similar to the Happy Home Designer spin-off, but I never played the spin-off.

They tried to salvage Donkey Kong Racing after its cancellation by changing the characters and IP. What came out of that was a planned 360 game called Sabreman Stampede (which used a character they created and owned) and they kept the animal riding in that but that also got cancelled. It stinks, because from what I’ve played in DKR, it’s very unique and fun, and also very bright, and it’s disappointing they probably won’t go back to that game again. Rare had a ton of interesting games that never saw the light of day.

Oh, speaking about ACNL 3DS, I have figured it out how to keep all my villagers stay in my island even I didn't play ACNL for very long time.
Before I get hiatus from ACNL, I will make sure nobody will thinking about moving out as I will monitoring my whole island to find who will give reaction to me. If they are thinking about moving out, they will tell if they will moving out by 10 days later (5 days before the update, extended 10 days after the update).
I simply said No and they will stay in your island. After I rejected their request to move out, I will play for a while then I must Save the game after I found one of my villager will try to move out because from this point, after you rejected their request and save the game right after the event happened, your villagers will stay forever.
But if load again your file right after you saved, the villagers will try to moving out by themselves without telling to you.
Here is the game mechanism I figured it out and I used that opportunity to keep my villagers stay forever because I will be very upset to find one of my villager moving out by themselves. I don't play Animal Crossing to experience the losing of villagers, I hate that idea.
I treat both ACNL and ACNH like The SIMS games so I want all my villagers stay forever after I worked so hard to get them.
But looks like I prefer to play ACNH more than ACNL as ACNL already looked outdated in term of customizing.
If I can get Switch 2 machine in the future, I will make 2nd island and going crazy again like my 1st island (measuring the island size, designing my whole island, deciding the villagers to stay in my 2nd island, doing local multiplayer session with my old Switch to exchange items, not kicking the unwanted villagers too early to get all the special DIY recipe and emitions, doing another photoshoot again, etc)

@Mariotag I like most squirrel characters, but there are a few I don’t like. I watched some movie called the Nut Job that had a squirrel protagonist but he was very unlikeable, a very rare instance where I found a squirrel character to be terrible. I also only know a few squirrel characters, right now, maybe four? Cool, a manga with a squirrel? That’s really cool to hear. Maybe I’ll look into it and see what it’s about.

Some of the Pokémon characters were named after people? I didn’t know that! That’s a cool fact. I remember watching a video on the One Piece dub and seeing them use water guns and have lollipops as kid-friendly replacements to cigars was absolutely hilarious, though for one character they edited out the cigars entirely and it looked like he just had his mouth awkwardly left open with smoke coming out of his mouth. I think almost all of the weapons got changed to toys. In the video, a character used a knife during a scene, but 4Kids wasn’t able to edit the knife out or find a good replacement for it, so the script rewrote it as a rubber knife when it still clearly was a real knife. I didn’t know the Shadow Realm thing came from a 4Kids dub. That’s kind of funny to know, and apparently it wasn’t ever a thing in the original version. I think a notable aspect of all of 4Kids was the dialogue being more kiddy and childish.

Yeah, nekomata do have abilities relating to the dead, but not exactly reviving it.

That’s a cool idea. I actually have a lot of ideas for specific art pieces and even stories, but I feel like they are too ambitious and complex for me to execute with my art and writing skills. My art is fine but I still haven’t mastered poses, backgrounds, and perspective, not to mention my art style changes way too much, and I’m unfortunately thinking of changing it again. My writing skills are especially bad when writing stories. I once had an idea for a story with younger versions of Norse gods and figures attending a magic school and being split into different classes, and the main character was one of Thor’s siblings. When I told my family about it, one of them told me I unintentionally ripped off Fire Emblem Three Houses. I was embarrassed and didn’t write it, also because I thought my writing wasn’t up to the task. It’s weird I didn’t realize the similarities at first though…but it’s still embarrassing.

I just worry a lot about stuff and things that could possibly be the case, like someone also being mad at me for something or someone talking about me to another person. Luckily it’s not the case most of the time but it really puts me into panic mode and I can’t stop thinking about it. Sorry about the financial support going away, I’d be feeling really upset and down if that happened to me.

@Pastellioli Yeah, I dunno many squirrel characters either honestly.

4kids absolutely made changes, some of them for the better. I can't imagine watching a version of Pokemon where the lead and his main iconic rival are named for irl people, and a potential rivalry between them.

Yea. Which makes it interesting seeing FEH have Sakura mention a what if regarding that.

Yeah, I definitely wanted to up the ante with my own intended sequel. But at least one of my ideas was used in Dragon Ball Super, an antagonist who could erase characters, and even universes. So like you, my idea was already used. My initial reason for it though, was just that I felt GT had what I thought was an interesting potential interesting concept, a merger of OG Dragonball, and DBZ styles. One they executed poorly by dragging everything out overly much, and making it dull. And my art never got to be much. I ragequit over trying to draw a circle within 30 seconds that one time, so I'm very not confident!
Also, weird. Some similarities, but your pitch is still relatively different! FE3H featured the house leaders as world leaders, with some individuals from their nations, eventually set to war against each other. As a professor, you have to pick a side.

Same about social anxieties. Similar reasons here. I'm still upset with myself for doubting friends. But sometimes, those reasons did end up being accurate.
And, I knew the financial support was going away. It's actually more optimistic than I first thought. I initially thought, I was being given a choice. No financial support right now, but with a possibly brighter future? Or, keep the support, for now, but sacrifice that future when it is no longer sustainable?

Hey people, how would one set up an automatic download of a game from nintendos website so that it starts downloading when I turn my switch on?

Destiny, justice and retribrution will be mine.

Pastellioli

@Mariotag Still like squirrels a lot, but it’s funny I only know about 5 or 6 of them.

I didn’t really know FEH mentioned that. It’s cool to hear that they did. Speaking of FEH, it’s been a while since I last played it…

That’s a coincidence! Yeah usually any ideas I have for writing have been used already in media, and when I see it, I go “oh” and avoid using it, because I really REALLY don’t want to unintentionally rip it off. For a while my art was kind of bad. I have drawn for a while, but only took it seriously back in around 2018, where my skills were very bad. My art went through a ton of changes and while my art has gotten better, it’s still not the best. There’s a lot of fundamentals I need to learn, but for now art is just a fun hobby and not something I do seriously.

I do know about the classes in FE3H all having leaders and going to war, as well as you having to choose a side, though I still think mine was ripping off FE3H unintentionally, mainly with the separated classes with different themes, all the characters being teenagers, and it taking place at a magic school. I think I tried to rewrite the story after I found out how similar it was, but I gave up because I couldn’t come up with a better idea. I also had Greek and Japanese mythology stories, which if I remember, the Greek story starred Helios (god of the sun) and there was this space town led by personifications of the main planets in the solar system (sans Earth, the Moon, and Sun), and the leaders all wielded special weapons. I randomly made a personification of Pluto the antagonist who wants revenge on the leaders, which I think I did as a reference to how Pluto was a main planet but demoted to a dwarf planet afterward. I wrote too many characters for that one and scrapped it. The Japanese story had way too many similarities to the Greek story, and that, paired with my lackluster writing skills, made me not write them. I do maybe want to come up with a new mythological story, but I’m not revisiting those scrapped concepts because they are very poorly written.

I really just need to stop feeling that way. It ruins my brain and thinking, but I always just can’t stop thinking about things that are possibly happening, and I always feel the need to ask someone about it to quell my fears, but it’s always temporary, because my mind tricks me into thinking about it. It’s good to hear that the financial support thing is better. I thought at first it was something bad.

Speaking about your magic school idea and the planets, I also have my own franchise.
I have created this franchise since year 2007 from my random sketches.
My franchise have 8 heroes with name from Mercury until Neptune with Pluto as secret optional character.
My first drawing was realistic style people then I revised their design with drastic changes in semi Chibi style in year 2008. I changed again their design into Chibi style in year 2016 and some characters have major design changes again. Here is my 9 planetary heroes from my Deviantart gallery.

Untitled

I made every characters have their own job, like FF9 as they have their elemental which have their weakness as well. I imagined this will be Action RPG like Kingdom Hearts style but you can switch the leader anytime like FF 12 and your non controlled members will do depend on your assignment similar as Gambit system FF 12. I will break down one by one of the characters.

Mercury = Ice Ninja + Alchemist
Venus = White Magic + melee fighter
Earth = Defender + arm cannon fighter
Mars = Two handed blade Knight

Jupiter = Summoner
Saturn = Time Wizard + Dark Knight fighter
Uranus = Wind wizard + Boomerang fighter
Neptune = Water wizard + Trident fighter

Pluto = Dark wizard + Summoner

The reason I separated the characters into different group because they are represented their actual planet forms.
Mercury until Mars are rock planets which they have great Physical attacks and good Magic attack as well. Only Venus have the highest healing Magics.
Jupiter until Neptune are gas planets which they have better Magic attack than the rock planets fighters but only Saturn have the deadliest physical attack considering his Scythe weapon. Uranus and Neptune have moderate healing magics but not as strong as Venus.

Pluto is special one. Since the demotion from NASA decision in August 2006, I made Pluto as secret character that you can invite him as optional new member but he will only join until defeating the Final Boss. After defeating Final Boss, he will departing from your group and back to his job. I made the requirement to invite Pluto as your optional member by finishing his request by finding his hell puppy Cerberus which should guard the gate of Underworld. After finding Cerberus, Pluto will join in your team and Pluto can summon Cerberus as well but Cerberus can have Full version looking into great Wolf with three different heads which can be switched and its heads have three different elementals that represented elementals of Hell : Dark, Fire and Ice.

What do you think about my planetary heroes?
I will explain more if you interested.
