I can't believe the Switch has been around for eight years! Still love playing mine. And in other news, I'm all ready for spring to come. Been ready for spring since February, haha.

@Pastellioli How have you been? Hope things are going well with you. Been busy with some stuff and playing some games, and in Pocket Camp, I got some in-game items that I've been wanting for a while now. Is it OK if I add your Switch friend code, by the way?

Agreed on the Switch profile icons. I do wish you can mix and match characters and backgrounds from multiple games though, instead of just being limited to one game. Like having Mario with an Animal Crossing background for example. I liked using Mario's picture from Super Mario 3D World with a red background, love that picture of him jumping. That's cool, I liked using the Mario Kart icons too. I wish Nintendo continued to have more course backgrounds though. They had backgrounds for courses from DLC waves 1 and 2, but stopped after that.

Oh that's cool, glad to hear you're enjoying those Chip 'n Dale shows. Agreed on Disney's classic cartoons. Nice, I should see more of those shorts sometime. I just remembered, I saw another Donald Duck short that also had Daisy in it, but I forgot what it was called. The other one I saw was Out of Scale, with Donald riding his little train. Oh speaking of Disney, I watched Lady and the Tramp on Valentine's Day and I enjoyed it. I went ahead and talked about it in the movie thread.

Ah yeah I remember a couple of those costumes. Yeah, I wonder why they stopped after that big update from 2021... probably because of Splatoon 3 happening? Since the Animal Crossing devs also work on Splatoon. Yeah definitely. New Horizons is quite a special game to me, and I was actually thinking of playing it again to fill up my museum. Haven't got every bug and fish yet.

If only Microsoft didn't buy Rare... I probably would have at least played Kameo by that time, haha. On me linking the interview, anytime.

@Bunkerneath I don't think this is real. I think they would have shown off such a thing in the Pokemon Presents, but there wasn't a word about a Pokemon collection there. Plus looking at the blurb on the bottom left corner, there's a small thing I noticed. They wrote "Game Boy" as one word, whereas officially it's two. So yeah, it doesn't look like an official announcement to me. Maybe they'll make a collection next year though, since the Pokemon series will have its 30th anniversary by then. (Gosh, am I feeling old...)

@Bunkerneath Funnily enough, my son said he'd heard rumours of a classic Pokémon collection (not on NSO), but he'd assumed that when it wasn't mentioned in the Pokémon Presents it was just speculation. That artwork looks terrible, so I doubt the screenshot is real at least.

I'd read somewhere that the original GB Pokémon games were some of the best selling games on the 3DS virtual console so we might see them on NSO, but I'd be surprised if they released a collection of classic games on a cart.

Nice to see this finally pick up again.

@MarioVillager92 So late to responding! Sorry. I’ve been doing fine! Hope you’ve been doing well too you can! It may take me a while but I am completely fine with you sending in a friend request. Glad you’re enjoying Pocket Camp. It’s been such a long time since I’ve played it, but I remember deleting it and my account data got wiped since I didn’t link a Nintendo account.

Yeah! I am glad that they did add in way more for profile picture elements. I remember the original ones without NSO and how it was kinda lacking. All I remember you were able to do is pick an artwork/render of a character or Mii and then a plain colored background. I do really want Rare profile pictures and elements but I’d assume they won’t do it because of licensing, but I’m completely fine with the DKC render I have as an avatar on there.

They are super charming. The one I’m watching is nonverbal, but I’m a big fan of the art style and the style of humor. It reminds me a bit of the 2010s Mickey Mouse Shorts, which I absolutely loved watching. Yeah, I enjoyed the shorts with Donald and Chip and Dale. I know that there were shorts where Chip and Dale were the main stars, but Disney+ doesn’t have them…I’m kind of surprised that they are missing but I also saw some other classic shorts and Mickey Mouse shows are missing on there. Cool! I’ll check for your response on there. I recently watched quite a bit of other movies so I’ll try talking about them on that thread soon. Writing about movies is so fun!

It was shocking they dropped a big update and stopped working on it, especially since it was so big from 2020-2021, but I do think them not updating it a whole ton since they were likely working on Splatoon 3 at the time is likely. Collecting all the bugs and fish in the AC games are so fun. I didn’t put in much progress in ACNH compared to ACNL though. I nearly got all the bugs, fish, and sea creatures in NL, but I spent way less time with NH so I have a very small collection of creatures. If you play it again, I hope you have fun!

Yeah, I’m wondering how it would have turned out of Rare was bought by Nintendo and the MS purchase didn’t happen. People think Rare would have had a better fate under Nintendo’s helm, but some also think it wouldn’t have changed anything, since I think around the time of the MS purchase, Rare said Nintendo stopped providing them an unlimited budget for their games as time went on, and they also didn’t buy them when they were offered to.

Yeah, although some of 4Kids dubs were not the best, they were memorable for me. I think their Pokémon dub is regarded as being the most iconic and well-known.

If I recall, I think they said Pikachu’s cheeks were inspired by how squirrels stuff nuts in their cheeks and they puff up a bit. And thank you for telling me the names!

Some of the yokai designs in Yokai Watch looked so unappealing…I thought the animal yokai had more fun and appealing designs. Looked it up, and nekomata are supposed to be necromancers so they can revive the dead.

Yeah, getting headshots with Kiriko’s throwing knives were satisfying. I usually liked playing as healers in OW that also could deal good damage. One healer I also liked playing as was Lució. Had good heal in as well as good damage too!

I also don’t really know Kotaku that well too, but the SSBU lyric fiasco and the public’s reaction to that and the TOTK rant are what they are known for too. I think why they didn’t get a TOTK review copy was because they promoted pirating Metroid Dread on an emulator that they said ran the game better, and if I remember, Nintendo put them on a blacklist afterward and they went “hey, what’d we do wrong?” when Kotaku should’ve already known that pirating newly released games is a big NO.

It was. I was bad at drawing digitally (and still am) so the works I saw on Miiverse were awesome! It’s cool that Splatoon 2 and 3 did kind of bring Miiverse back with the posts in the plazas, though it’s not exactly Miiverse since your only able to make pictures and not write messages. I rarely went on Miiverse so I didn’t see much of the out-of-pocket stuff, but since Splatoon had it implemented in posts in the plaza I did see only a few out of pocket stuff or rude posts.

I see. I understand that…I also do that too if I upset someone and I then feel bad, so I try to also do things to make it up to them. I feel like whenever I have good intentions however, they are never executed well.

Yep, awesome show though I only saw season 1. Never saw the second season but I did keep up with it a bit on reels and a few discussion threads. Amazing writing but it’s a very sad and dark show.

How was your island in ACNH?
I still play ACNH until today.
My island design is pretty well designed.
Btw, you can check my ACNH island 4 years ago from my YouTube video before the makeover and the latest update.

@Anti-Matter I can’t remember since I haven’t booted up ACNH in a while, but my island wasn’t too impressive or stunning. Just run of the mill, but I remember my house had a semi-garden of flowers placed just outside of it on one of the sides and it had a nice stone path. I didn’t take advantage of a lot of the terraforming and building tools.

Usually when I play AC I don’t focus a ton on the decorating and designing of the towns. I tend to focus way more on my house and making enough bells to buy furniture, clothes and house expansion. I recall my ACNL town kind of being a bit all over the place with the landmarks. I remember placing a fountain in a super random spot in NL nearby the town hall and from what I remember the placement of the fountain looked super awkward.

When I played ACNH, I treated more like The Sims since I have been playing The Sims games for very long time so I have pretty good aesthetic taste in decorating the environment.
Because I have the experience from playing The Sims games, I want my whole island and the house design both exterior and interior look nice and great so I spent tons of hours just for terraforming my whole island started from measuring my island size, redraw the whole squares from my island on my laptop with using Corel Draw to decide the placement of houses, venues, height levels, river pattern, etc as you can see from my YouTube video I posted above.
Sometimes when I was bored to play other games, I play ACNH for making specific photoshoot at Harv Island and sometimes I had random ideas to make specific narrative scenes by adjusting my villagers or myself into interactions from the emotion icons. After I took the photos, I send to my handphone and posted on Instagram or this website to show my ideas.
Playing ACNH can be fun if you try to learn of designing or making specific photoshoot.
Once you get into designing, you will spent tons of hours to get the best looking of your island.

Have you ever been watching something and thinking "I should stop, I really should" and then not stopped? I just had that.... I am working on updating the Palia Fandom, and (long story short) got sidetracked looking at datamined info. Now I know what's coming next and I am half more hyped because it looks super exciting, but half disappointed because now I won't have quite the same thrill of finding it all on my own when the Elderwoods get added. Anyone else ever do something like this? @Anti-Matter I love setting up photoshoots at Harv's Island or the Archipelago! Would you share some of your pictures??
