@Mariotag Thanks. Yeah, I still play my Wii U, was playing it the other night. The only Wii U ports I have on Switch is really just Mario Kart 8, Tokyo Mirage Sessions (underrated RPG), and Super Mario 3D World (got this as a gift). Never felt the need to re-buy Wii U games since I could just play them on Wii U.
I agree, it's Nintendo being really greedy. I hope not, I still use Switch Online to play classics and with a friend online. We use to get together to play Wii and Wii U, he moved away, so online gaming is something we can do together, on both Switch as well as PC.
I hope the backlash gets them to lower prices, I have not seen anyone happy about the increased game prices.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
@Sunsy
I was upset & overwhelmed too with Switch 2 after the breakdown of the machine specs.
The game key cartridge idea was really worrying me for collecting physical games, I hope only for certain games that I won't buy.
The MSRP $80 for 1st party game, seriously?!
I think I will consider OLED Switch 1 for my final upgrade and I will wait and see the fate of Switch 2 after several years later.
@Sunsy In my case, some of my closest friends live a ways away, so yeah. I'd need the online. I'm pretty upset with their greed that Iwata would've cracked down on. It was a meme for a while "Nintendo is evolving! But Iwata keeps pressing B...". I think we can all agree Iwata pressing B was a good thing now.
It's a reasonable possibility they would lower prices. What they have proposed is unsustainable. 3ds lowered prices, but that was under Iwata.
I still play Wii U sometimes too. Though I was hit by all the DX editions for switch, which were a slap in the face for me, I do still play it. Btw, how much new was added for TMS switch? I have the OG.
@Mariotag They're Korean fox spirits. Simliar to Kitsunes from Japan & Huli jings from China. They are often considered evil due to eating human livers. however, different folklores varies. In fact Kitsunes and Kumiho or Gumihos derived from the Huli Jings from china.

I agree with a lot of the points and complaints you have about the console. While I do think the new features are cool, and some of the first-party games they showed off look promising (especially Bananza, hyped for that one) the prices I think kind of hampered a bit of the excitement. I understand why the Switch 2 is more of course, but I kind of don’t like how pricier the games seem to be from the price tag on MKW. But from what I saw with the $70 pricing on Bananza, it suggests that not all games (at least Nintendo’s first-party games) won’t all be $80, but it’s still really disappointing that some of the games are going to be priced closer to $100, and with those prices I only see myself maybe getting one Switch 2 game on occasion. In fact, I think I’d mostly play OG Switch games on there compared to Switch 2 exclusive releases. And I also do not get WHY a tech demo is going to cost money. It’s good that it’s reasonably priced at $6 and nothing more, but why would a tech demo and not an actual game cost money? That was maybe the most and only stupidest thing the Direct had.
And although I won’t be using it, it kind of sucks the chat feature is going to be locked behind a paywall. It was nice that the Switch 2 is going to have that feature so people don’t have to rely on using their phones or devices for voice chatting, but why couldn’t they make it free? Im only just thinking more about it now and it stinks a lot of smaller and simple features are going to cost money now…
I still think the newer first-party games they showed off were cool, the game enhancements sounded nice, and it was absolutely awesome to hear that OG Switch controllers will be compatible (which will save money on newer expensive controllers) and the fact that the NSO N64 games will also get enhancements and a much needed rewind feature, but they just seem to be pricing almost everything higher now. I feel like maybe inflation and possibly tariffs have a role to play in it, but the game prices were especially disappointing.
@Lightsiyd
Okay, I will explain here.
I was upset & overwhelmed with Switch 2 situation after I was amazed with boosted performance (60 fps) for previous 1st party Switch 1 games, then when came to the machine and games breakdown, the things that made me upset (and hopefully it will not happen to every Switch 2 games) was the game-key card that basically still similar as code in box / partial download.
What the heck!!
I thought the issue of insufficient storage for cartridge will be solved in Switch 2 with bigger GB size cartridge, but it wasn't for even not so big GB size Bravely Default that got game-key treatment, it was really put me in horror if Nintendo intentionally want to kill the physical games for Switch 2.
My complaint was also the color of the game box and banner strip for Switch 2 that was really too much Red color like Nintendo Select color box. I know Nintendo is identic with Red color but the Red color domination for Switch 2 game box even on the cartridge color, it looked too much and less appealing than the light grey color of 3DS cartridge and White box 3DS games.
I thought 3DS & Wii U game cover design were the Best in my opinion as both of them have game app icon on the spine. 3DS with White color, Wii U with Baby Blue color, both of them are my favorite colors.
Nintendo really monetized every nook and cranny of Switch 2. They charge some $ for digital tutorial of Switch 2 Joy Cons, the Upgrade for certain 1st party Switch 1 games, the Japanese version Switch 2 machine which locked on account region, the price tag $80 for 1st party Switch 2 games, etc. It was ridiculous.
And yet still no White bundle.
I will wait and see the Switch 2 sales with all those controversial decision.
I will not get Switch 2 day one unlike Switch 1 that I bought in December 2017.
I really want to make sure the Switch 2 games are mostly have all the game data inside the fartridge like Switch 1 games.
Why have to end the fruitful success of Switch 1 with controversial decisions for Switch 2 ?
Switch 2 will going downhill like Wii U if Nintendo keep making their machine pricey on every nook and cranny.
I think I will add Switch OLED for my final Upgrade while keep my eyes on Switch 2 situation. I still have Switch 1 V1 since 2017 and still working fine and I want to add another Switch 1 machine with OLED edition to keep me busy with another 2nd island of ACNH on OLED machine.
I might consider Switch 2 if the cartridge still have game data inside (I will ignore the games that get code in box or game key, mostly they are the games I will never like them or those games have PS5 version with everything inside the disc), there is White bundle and new Animal Crossing on Switch 2.
@Anti-Matter Hmm. Well, I think there's a possibility that the Game Cards with no content is a provision for 3rd party developers who are already practicing this scam, not for Nintendo 1st party games. It's not a strong possibility, but hey, one can hope.
I also agree that the monetization is extreme. We will have to see how and if they plan to practice Switch 2 Vouchers or not in the future. If they don't, it'll be a serious problem. They're becoming more and more out of touch with their customers.
@Anti-Matter Yeah, and I do have digital too. If I wanted a game digitally, I can buy it on the eShop. For games I really like most, or a fan of the series, I like having physical and having the game on the cart. This whole game-key card is like a really bad deal breaker to those who like physical.
Yeah, $80 for one game is a lot. I have no issue paying $50-$60 (some games are still $50, Sonic x Shadow Generations and Trolls Remix Rescue launched at $50), $80 is too much. Physically or Digitally, the price is too steep.
I may just have to stick to Switch and previous systems for Nintendo gaming, and get new games on PC. I feel like I'm being priced out of Nintendo. I'll always have a PC for everyday things on it and I could play games on it too.
@Mariotag I can't help but agree. I remember the 3DS situation, it launched at $250 IIRC. Because it didn't sell well, the price dropped. We really need something like that for Switch 2 to happen.
Nice, I was playing it the other night. Specifically Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games. My friend took me to a hockey game for his birthday, and another friend reminded me that the Mario & Sonic games had hockey in it. So I played that.
It's been awhile since I've played it, but TMS had new side stories, and all the DLC from the Wii U version included.
@Pastellioli Thanks, I do feel bad because I was away for so long between stuff in real life happening.
I agree, the hardware is good and the games are good. It's the price of games that's really high. One could easily get a Switch 2, and play indie games which do cost less than first party Nintendo games (I have lots of indies between Wii U, Switch and PC). I kinda expected $70, but never expected Nintendo to go even higher. Hilarious thing about that tech demo is it should have been included with the system for free.
The game chat. Want something even funnier, the Wii U had video chat, for free. I use to use it a lot too, my friend who moved away got a Wii U and we did that well before we ever got Discord. It's ironic given that video chatting on a Nintendo system isn't a new thing too.
Will admit, the controller news is cool. I did not want to buy a new pro controller should I ever get a system (if I do, I'll probably be playing more indie games on it since first party game prices are too high). Right now I think I may wait on a Switch 2 and see how it plays out, or stick to Switch 1 and PC gaming.
@Sunsy
I think I got clarification about game key for Switch 2.
There was one user said the game-key cartridge only imply on certain Switch 2 games which have insufficient GB size so it will be partial download situation again like and the code in box games on Switch 1 which in Switch 2 case, the code in box treatment got replaced with blank cartridge with game-key inside so you don't need to type the 12 digits code to redeem the digital game, just insert the blank cartridge then proceed to download the game from eshop and you can only play the games by inserting the blank cartridge (remember the virtual gamecard feature for digital Switch games from Nintendo Direct last 27 March 2025?).
That's so far I can clarify.
@Anti-Matter It pretty much is a "code in a box" situation, without the code and the cartridge being a digital key when inserted. It's still a cartridge that requires the game to be completely downloaded from the eShop. Even if the cartridge has a little bit of data on it (we won't know for sure until someone buys one and tries it), you still need to download the full game.
Might as well go digital with something like that. It defeats the purpose of having a cartridge for the game. Even having a game on a cart has the benefit of not filling up system or SD card memory.
@Sunsy don’t feel bad! It’s fine if you were busy.
It’s a bummer with the prices because I know a lot of cooler and exciting games are going to be exclusive to the Switch 2 and won’t be compatible with the OG Switch…the pricing for the games kind of stinks, but from an article NL wrote recently, some European retailers are planning on selling some of the Switch 2 games for cheaper (they mentioned a French retailer is selling pre-orders for Bananza and BOTW Switch 2 edition for €59.90) but sadly Ive heard of no US retailers selling the games for cheaper as well, which sucks. I am hoping later on that some US stores (like maybe GameStop) will sell pre-owned Switch 2 games at a cheaper price when the games release. I hear a lot of people on here are planning on purchasing pre-owned Switch 2 games in stores instead and waiting, which sounds like it might be the way to go. I don’t expect to get the Switch 2 at launch too, also because it’s absolutely going to sell out fast from the rumors throughout the years and the new features.
I never used the voice chat on Wii U, and one time I was going to but it turned out it was discontinued. But, it’s such a darn shame they brought it back for Switch 2 just to lock it behind an NSO sub for people who don’t have it.
Yeah, it’s a relief they said older controllers will work for the Switch 2 and the special retro NSO controllers are usable as well, albeit they won’t be usable with certain games that require Switch 2 exclusive features (like mouse controls), OG Joy-Cons can’t be charged with the Switch 2, and enabling voice chat has to be done manually since it has no C button. I am wondering if third-party Switch controllers will still be usable or not. But it is good that no one will have to buy more new controllers for it.
I am excited to see how well some of the older games will run. I know there are special Switch 2 Editions for specific games with new content and features, but I am wondering how older backwards compatible games without Switch 2 Editions will run since it is very likely I will use OG Switch games instead of newer exclusive games. I am especially curious how different Smash Ultimate might run on that, though I’d absolutely love if they fixed the awful online on that.
@Mariotag It is from what I’ve seen, but in a lot of stuff I’ve played or seen with kitsune, they lack the transformation abilities and are only shown in their fox form.
I only played one route of Three Hopes, which was with the Golden Deer. I found Three Hopes was super short, but I remember there was this one battle where your decisions will affect the story and its length. One decision will significantly shorten the game but the other will add more chapters and give you the full ending I’m not too into doing multiple playthroughs of certain games so I only did one route. The final battle was annoying though. Compared to most I don’t mind hack-and-slash games, but maybe because I played Hyrule Warriors on the Wii U and Fire Emblem Warriors and thought those were decent games.
I do get somewhat impatient drawing too. I’m only able to complete, what, maybe 1 or 2 drawings each month, mainly because of time but also because I’m the type of person who gets upset when my drawing doesn’t go as I planned to, and I am quick to give up the drawing while working on it. I do want to go back to drawing, also because I recently bought a set of bright colored Sharpies.
Oh, I see. It seems like to me that Naruto is kind of well-known for having filler in it? That stinks, I haven’t really watched any anime with filler in it, but I also believe I heard One Piece is notorious for having it, but I assume it’s also because the show has a bunch of episodes too. Honestly, I do kind of dislike when I’m watching a movie or something and the film has these random scenes in here that feel like filler and have no bearing on the plot, because I have felt that way with some movies I’ve watched before.

@JaxonH I'm going to avoid opining on this topic to not create more moderation opportunities (and advise everyone else to do the same lol), but since the Vietnam thread was locked, I thought I'd just drop some links for you to check out re: the tariff issue.
@Sunsy Hi there, I hope everything is going well for you. No worries for not getting to my last reply yet, I'm not upset about that at all. I've also been busy, and I've been focusing on fighting off my depression lately, I've been through a lot recently. Depression is never fun to have, especially since I'm very, very sensitive. I've been listening to some ambiance videos on YouTube, those have been helping me emotionally. There's a 1950s calm night one that has oldies playing in the background, and it's really nice. I like old-timey stuff and that helps me get a good night's sleep.
I understand why you're upset about the Switch 2. $80-90 is indeed a lot of cash for just one game... I don't think I'll be able to get too many new games because of that. I didn't know about some games being $90, though. Mario Kart World looks awesome, and I really, really want to play it... but the price tag is definitely a tough pill to swallow. And yes, the game key cards are such a silly idea. Why not just have the game stuffed inside and be done with it? I did see that the welcome tour costs some money too... honestly, that's also silly. Agreed, that should've been included in the system from the get-go, or just not have that being a thing to begin with.
I think, if Switch 2 sales start being not great, we may see some things change. And yeah, the 3DS started out at $250, which was pretty expensive for a handheld. The 3DS did not sell too well when it first came out, then it got a price drop and its hardware sales were much better. Especially with Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 coming out that holiday season. Similarly, the PS3 was $600 when it first came out, it didn't sell nearly as well as the Wii and 360, then it got a price drop and redesign and it did quite a bit better. I'll probably hold off on getting the Switch 2 for the time being and see how things play out, probably the best course of action for me.

AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
@Pastellioli Yea, I forget what the last thing I said on kitsune was, but most places, they lack transformation abilities.. I still remember Our Home's Fox Deity though. The one in that disguised as human was like, "I'm sure glad I decided to be a girl today!"
Really short? Tbh, that's good news for me. Though it might be the path you chose. I chose Dimitri.
Also, you played Wii U HW? Niiice. Played the DLC too?
I ragequit far faster than that. I've not really drawn in ages.
Yeah, Naruto is notorious for filler. I dunno about One Piece, but it's understandable.
As for Switch 2...Nintendo really did go out and say their pricing wasn't already influenced by tariffs, huh? Admitted to being greedy af, and they think they'll get paid no matter what they charge...
I knew Iwata going was gonna be hard, but it seems he was keeping the greed in check.
Just occurred to me, we could have another N64 situation on out hands instead of flat out greed.
N64 games notoriously cost more because carts were more expensive to manufacture than the PS1 discs.
@Mariotag Kitsune and mythological creatures are so interesting and capture my attention a ton.
It is short, and each route has 16 chapters, though less depending on the decisions you make in one of the later chapters. I only did the Golden Wildfire route though. I did play the original Hyrule Warriors, but I don’t think I ever had the DLC…maybe I’m not remembering well, but I remember having some DLC outfits for Lana and Cia though.
That’s understandable. I usually do get like that sometimes. Rarely I try to make a new piece to replace a drawing I messed up. I remember years ago, I wasn’t really good at drawing, and I made this artwork that, for my art skills at the time, was somewhat more detailed than my other drawings. I also had these acrylic paints I had, and I thought “I’m going to color this in well!” and it didn’t go well. I was bad at acrylics and I made the mistake of diluting the paint and using it like watercolor but ruined the drawing and got super upset. I did trace over the failed drawing and salvaged it, but I rarely do that, because I don’t have the time to anymore. Paint is one of the drawing materials I’m absolutely bad at using. I also wasted money on a bunch of bottles last year because of a painting I wanted to make in my head,, but when the painting looked bad in it’s early stage, I gave up, trashed the botched painting later on and donated the bottles.
The pricing is so iffy. The games look cool, but they sound so pricey. I get why the console is priced that much, but I’m more disappointed in the prices for the first-party games, though luckily the only Switch 2 game I’m interested in is DK Bananza. Sucks that pre-orders got delayed because of tariffs, and pretty much everyone else has to suffer because of it. I wasn’t going to pre-order, but hopefully they announce a new date quickly since it’s releasing in two months time. I can imagine the release being somewhat of a mess with the pre-orders being delayed and the console selling out quickly. Plus why are they charging for simple features and stuff that should have been free? The voice chat is going to be locked behind an NSO sub so some people won’t be able to use it, and the welcome tour tech demo shouldn’t even be paid. I’m glad the welcome tour is at a small price at roughly $6, but should a tech demo that isn’t an actual game cost money?
@Mariotag They can. They usually assume forms of beautiful women. Much like kitsunes and Huli jings. In fact the huli jing influenced the creation of kitsunes and kumihos in korean and japanese folklore.
