@ComfyAko I bought a really cheap disc drive for my laptop and expected it not to brick it. Alas, that was not to be.

@Professor_Plumber I don't know if my laptop is still in warranty and I don't know what the problem is, hopefully it can be solved by just letting the battery completely die and then charging it but I'm not holding out much hope

@TeaCatherine If the company that produced the faulty disc drive has presence in the US, you can push for a reimbursement. What company was it?

As for the laptop itself, it could be factory reset somehow maybe. Does it even boot up?

@ComfyAko It does nothing. When you hold the power button, the screen doesn't turn on, or any lights indicating anything.

Yeah, I was so sure we'd be getting one soon because the page updated and that normally signals a direct is coming soon but at this point it doesn't seem that likely unless we are getting one so good it doesn't need filler.
@ComfyAko How would the company having US presence help a person in the UK? Also, I got it second hand.
@Professor_Plumber Any idea what it means if whilst it's plugged into the drive it has the caps lock and function lights on? It still does nothing though.

@Scooby-Doo Yeah it does sound serious, sorry I never had any issue like that. I thought it might have short circuited but that caps lock wouldn't work in that case.

Why would my laptop only have 5.86 GB of RAM usable if it came with 8 GB? I would check online, but the current situation with Reddit screwed that plan up.
