@Zuljaras You have hedgehog right? I could with some advice if you’re willing to give some.

For the last year I’ve been feeding some wild hedgehogs in my garden. Last night I caught two of them fighting over the food I’ve left out, for about 20 mins they basically just snorted at each other and pushed one another until one of them curled up into a ball. There’s at least three of them and I leave two dishes of food and another dish of water out about 12 feet apart.

Since they are too silly to just find the other dish of food would it be better to keep the dishes closer to each other so if one of them is eating the other could have the other dish? As my concern with that would be if a hedgehog finishes the food in one they just go and eat all the food in the next dish before another one comes along.

The other thing is how/should you break up a wild hedgehog fight? I don’t fancy touching them incase they have ticks.

@jump Our hedgehog is wild as well Unfortunately they are aggressive and they can't see right from wrong. It might be better to just leave the food on the ground as the bowls will just keep the animals closer.

Remember, they are anti-social animals. They do not have packs/families. All they do is survive.

Our Sonic is nasty even when we put food in his bowl. And when he is out of the cage his first destination is to angrily go and eat of the cat's bowl (in our old place).

I would just spread the food on the ground, so they have more time to eat separately.

As for breaking them in a fight we used to have gloves for that kind of stuff if he is too angry but now we just pick him up like a kitten with a pinch. He looks ridiculous when he is in the air like that. They have really elastic skin

Living in the mountains or somewhere more secluded would be great. Maybe that’s why I want to live in Arizona so bad. the specific area is very quiet and lonely.( in a good way.)

The cities suck in Arizona ( but that’s kinda the case everywhere, at least for me.) I want to live out near Wichenburg. Preferably about 30 minutes away from the town. Still enough stores and stuff around to not feel totally barren, but you have plenty of space available.
Also they Rodeo a ton there, that helps as well.

And socializing sucks. It isn’t terrible with the right people, but most of the time I hate talking to people.

@Owl1
Yeah, kudos for putting yourself out there. I wouldn’t have been brave enough.

@Zuljaras thanks!

Your hedgehog sounds like a little sod. Lol

I’ve tried leaving the food on the ground before but it seems to attract slugs who start eating the food instead and it was raining yesterday so I’d be concerned the food would turn to mush on the wet ground especially when it rains harder. Hmm, I’m gonna give it so more thought on how to avoid my garden turning into the hedgehog equivalent of The Warriors.
