Good thing I saved this in a notepad file so I don't lose this post. Nintendo Life, keep the Hammer Bros. out of your server room, please! The servers can't handle the tossing hammers.
@Sunsy Yeah... I agree for sure! I felt loved by Mario and all of his friends, lol. <3
Yeah, I guess that's just the nature of ads in general. They pretty much advertise whatever they want and whatever's current. I pretty much just buy whatever I want, lol.
I actually went ahead and watched a few videos on YouTube that show Double Dash's LAN/broadband gameplay. Yeah I don't think I'd expect that feature to come back if it does make it to NSO, and they'd just have the good old split screen multiplayer. Did you know that 8 Deluxe has LAN play, as well? I found that out soon after the game originally came out, but like with Double Dash, I never tried it.
Yeah, Nintendo's probably planning out their next console ahead of time so they don't make the same mistakes they did with the Wii U. If it turns out to be the Switch's successor, with better hardware and backwards compatibility, I think it could do well. The GBA and the 3DS pretty much followed that route, and they both did great, despite both not selling as much as their predecessors, the original Game Boy and the DS. They've had a very strong track record in regards to their handhelds, and the Switch is classified as both a home console and a handheld.
I think I heard the Luigi rumor for Super Mario 64 fairly recently, I don't think I've heard of it as a kid. Probably because I was still in my single digits back when the N64 was new. But it's still interesting to learn about. I'd pretty much wander around Peach's castle in general, I remember just playing around in the courtyard before the Boos showed up. The Boo that appeared in the hallway to the courtyard kind of freaked me out when I first saw it as a child, lol.
That's awesome.
Yeah, it feels counter-productive since ads are suppose to be used to make money, not drive people away lol.
Indeed, it would be cool if they brought back Mario Kart Double Dash as there is no official way to play it outside owning the disc with a GameCube or a Wii. It would be fun if they incorporated the LAN stuff too. I did, I think I may have used it once with my IRL friend when he visited. Some useless trivia, the Wii U versions of Call of Duty have a "system link" mode thus having a LAN option. I don't own two Wii Us or two copies of the game to try it to see how it works.
Yeah, backwards compatibility would be a blessing on Nintendo's next console. All my Wii U stuff is tied to Wii U, the only way I could play Wii U games on Switch is rebuying them. That's why my Wii U ports are limited to a few favorites, like Mario Kart 8 and Tokyo Mirage Sessions. Just don't feel like rebuying a bunch of favorites on Switch, when I can play it on Wii U. I did purchase a few Wii U indie favorites to have them on Switch thanks to the Wii U eShop ending, but that's about it. Nintendo really needs to make it so past digital purchases can be played. Kind of like what Xbox does.
Yeah, Luigi in Super Mario 64 was a biggie back then in the early rumor days. The big boo, I had it glitch once... it had no face. It happened once. Spooky. Now I sound like I'm making up a rumor. XD Funnily enough, those viral videos about Super Mario 64 being personalized made me nostalgic for Super Mario 64, and I bought it on my Wii U at the time... then months later Super Mario 3D All-Stars launched.
@Sunsy I do highly recommend the entire Metroid Prime Trilogy to any Metroid fans, or even those who do like FPS games but want to try a different setting with some unconventional mechanics. My favorite parts of those games were the exploration, lore, puzzles, and boss fights. Samus gets some pretty wicked suits too.
I just didn't like the controls of the GameCube original, maybe I should consider grabbing it on Wii U before the eShop closes. My wallet is linked to my Switch so all I need is an eShop card. I never had the Wii version, but I've played FPS games with the Wii remote and nunchuk with no problem before.
I’d say that the Lord od the rings games are the gold standard of licensed games. Now one day I shall read the Lord of the rings book but as it currently sands I don’t care about the series at all. I never watched the movies because I like reading the book first. I was intrigued by the nemesis system and picked up shadow of modor and loved it. It was an amazing accessible game that holds up more than 10 years and 2 console cycles after its original release. I think the mark of a good licensed game is being s good game for fans or newcomers. I loved the game purely on its own merits and would probably of only enjoyed it more if I saw the movies/read the books. It could have been an amazing game without the branding. Or another example the ubisoft south park games they so perfectly capture south psrk by just being episodes you play same writers and voice actors just longer and interactble and the writing is amazing. If you aren’t a south park fan it won’t convert you but purely as a comedy the game is worth your time. Good licensed games are definitely possible you just need to find people who care about the source material
Yeah they just let you feel the excitement as part of a group. There are some for a lack of a better words extremely hype moments in games, books and TV shows characters returning at the last minute to save the day, “dead” characters showing back up etc and those moments are amazing but movies can magnify these by 100 by giving you permission to cheer as loud as possible and hear everyone else’s cheers. Same goes for jokes being able to laugh together is a community thing it makes the joke better. But it only counts if the audience is real laugh tracks follow the same principle but because the show was designed to accommodate it the track feels forced and less fun. The only show I’ve ever enjoyed with one is Seinfeld and that’s just because of how amazing the jokes are but I’d still prefer to not have them
Look I love talking about games and reviews and even YouTubers who talk about rumors like Arlo but I prefer them reviewing games or talking about why they like games I don’t like the actual speculation parts. I just think it’s a waste of energy that could be better spent actually playing games or talking about why you love them like I wrote about shadow of modor. I could be playing it or I could be banging my head hoping for a sequel that has no confirmation and believe a bored 15 year olds “leak” about shadow of Ratbag (which I would play).
Pretty much every one is great. Ryan George unironically makes better written and more interesting videos than some movies he pitches. It’s a ll in good fun there are very few times where it seems like he absolutely despises something and usually when he does it’s justified. He has his own channel which is similarly awesome. I’ve seen a few cinema sin’s videos but never really felt a reason to watch more they are funny to an extent. I just prefer other film critics over him and I’ve never seen wins
Cool, never did read or watched anything Lord of the Rings. Then again, I tend to have a difficult time watching long movies, that's more of a personal reason. I can agree with that, it shows it is possible when the care is put into it. It's easy to make a licensed game as a cash grab, but it shows care and inspiration when developers pay attention to the source of it. Then there's games like Chicken Little, where the game can be better than the movie it's based on. This is coming from someone who liked Chicken Little too.
Indeed. I just watched Violent Night on Peacock, and mom and I had a lot of reactions. I can only imagine what it would have been like seeing it in a theater. Some would say the girl quietly singing "Trolls Just Wanna Have Fun" ruins the experience, at the same time, it just shows someone who loves it. Comedy can be fun as a community. I saw Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks in a theater, everyone lost it when Maud Pie appeared on screen. It's like those who saw My Little Pony, knew the character, the way she is, and had a good laugh at an unexpected surprise.
Yeah, you know, I can't count how many times I've seen a "Switch Pro" rumor getting treated like it's true, even when Nintendo said no such thing. People do fall for it.
Yeah, I still can't remember which pitch I saw. Personally, I do find it hard to watch reviews on movies, because I've already seen it, and I came to my own conclusion on what I saw. Good example, I was recommended "Trolls is an animated disaster" by 24 Frames of Nick. I watched it expecting another "Trolls is bad" video, instead, I got a review from someone who had things he liked about the movie, things he didn't like. Then, why call it an "animated disaster" if the conclusion was "don't judge a movie by its cover," definitely a clickbait title as it was more review than actually trashing the movie. I didn't fully agree with some points (for example, the music since I like the music), but it felt like a review at least instead of nitpicking everything in a movie.
It's also important to remember movie critics and I look for different things in movies too. I go to a movie because I love the way it looks, the story, the characters, the lore of the characters, music, and so on, movie critics look for other things. One's looking to be entertained, the other is looking at a movie not for entertainment, maybe as art or the way a movie is made.
Here's an example of CinemaWins, this what I saw. SPOILERS for anyone who has not seen Trolls yet (just in event someone on the forums will watch Trolls, and don't want to ruin it for them).
It's like CinemaSins, but points out all the good in the movies. Never considered CinemaSins actual reviews, just comedy since it points out dumb little things that go unnoticed.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
@Kermit1 Awesome, I never knew about them until a few years ago when I stumbled across their Trolls video. I like the idea, especially since YouTubers tend to be overly negative to animated movies.
Can you blame me for barely watching them when animated movies tend to my favorite?

@EaglyTheKawaiiShika Yeah, I remember some saying back in its heyday, 2005 and 2006, that the game was better than the movie. I enjoyed my time with the Chicken Little game. Agreed, I have that game, it was Simpsons Hit and Run. I have it on PC. Yeah, I remember seeing the Cory in the House DS game at some stores. Saw the show a few times and thought "how can they make a game?" Yet Phineas and Ferb on DS was actually awesome. In my own opinion anyway.
Enjoy it when the time comes, it was a trip of a movie. Yeah, the first two My Little Pony Equestria Girls movies were actually shown in select theaters as part of a special event. I missed the first one, but saw Rainbow Rocks on the big screen. This happened in 2013-2014. It was great being around other MLP fans.
Thus proving the YouTube algorithm, sucks, as usual. Shame too, because his video was a review detailing what he liked and didn't like, and wasn't even slamming the movie. I disagreed with some of his takes, but it felt like a genuine review. Also sponsored by that meme Raid: Shadow Legends, lol.
Indeed. Will admit, it sometimes feels like I'm the only one who enjoyed the Disney Pinocchio remake from how much louder negative opinions speak. I found things I liked about it. Yeah, it's all opinion and subjective in the end.
@Tyranexx Yeah. I think a lot of the discounts I've gotten were games I already had or didn't have interest in. I think I got one discount back then? I forgot what game it was for, though. But yeah that would be cool if Nintendo still did that. They don't have game sales too often, I don't think. Ah well.
Oh gosh, I should get back to Metroid Prime Trilogy one of these days. It's one of the many games on my backlog... but I did get a lot of progress into MP1, at least. I think I got stuck on MP2 at one point. I still have my copy of Metroid Prime Hunters as well (anyone remember that game?), perhaps I could revisit it.
@Sunsy Yeah that would be awesome for them to bring back Double Dash. Or at the very least, some of Double Dash's tracks for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's DLC. I noticed that in the first three waves, there wasn't a single track from that game... and there are some courses I'd love to see make a comeback. Especially Daisy Cruiser. But yeah, Nintendo hasn't really rereleased their GameCube games that much over the years. At the top of my head, they remade Wind Waker and Twilight Princess for the Wii U, Luigi's Mansion for the 3DS, and brought back Super Mario Sunshine as part of 3D All-Stars. That's about it.
I did rebuy some Wii U favorites on the Switch, but I don't do it often either. So the majority of the games I have for the Switch weren't double dips. You mean make their digital games for older consoles compatible with the newer ones? That would be cool for sure. I never had an Xbox One or a Series X/S, but yeah I did see that they brought back games for the original Xbox and the 360. I even saw that they enhanced Sonic Unleashed so that the game now runs in 60 FPS. What did you think of that game, by the way? It's been a long time since I played it, and I didn't really get into that game for some reason. I remember having kind of a hard time with the daytime levels, and wasn't really into the nighttime levels. Perhaps I'll give it another shot at some point, I know there are quite a few fans of that game.
Oh gosh, that sounds like a spooky glitch for sure, lol. That would scare the heck out of my younger self even more! I still have my childhood copy of Super Mario 64, as well as on the Wii VC and 3D All-Stars.
As for Raid Shadow Legends, I don't play it and I have no interest in it. Mobile games in general never really interested me, especially with stuff like microtransactions and pay-to-win mechanics. And yep, I kind of see it as a meme as well, lol - I still see videos get sponsored by that game today.
@kkslider5552000 Ah man, that must have been scary when that happened. It does sound like your oven's OK though.

AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
Nothing is more annoying to me when a YouTuber I watch, who normally doesn’t swear or at least doesn’t say more hard ones, decides to randomly start cussing a ton in one of their videos.
