" I was always a cartoon kind of guy, that's one thing that never changed."
So, have you tried other cartoonish games such as Cat Quest 1 + 2, Dodgeball Academia, Kao the Kangaroo, Hokko Life, etc?
I have played a demo to Dodgeball Academia on PC (during a Steam Games Festival) and I have played a bit of Kao the Kangaroo Round 2 on Steam.
When I said that, I was thinking more of cartoons you watch over reality shows, drama, and serious entertainment. Good example, I was more likely to watch Jimmy Neutron when I was a teenager, while most at that age would watch either American Idol or whatever fad MTV was showing.
okay, I just checked how many monopoly versions there are out there cuzI didn't know and oh my...
at the very least there are around 3000 versions. that's staggering. 😮
Definitely, there's lots of them. I own My Little Pony Monopoly. Though, I do want the Trolls World Tour Monopoly Junior. Yeah, it's the younger kids version of Monopoly (IIRC from childhood, involved a theme park), but I want it being a fan of the Trolls movies and shows.
@MarioLover92 Cool, yeah I think Mega Man 2 was my first Mega Man game, funnily enough was the last Wii download game I bought. Curiosity got me since I never played a Mega Man game at the time.
Yup, that's Weezer, they're like the only band from my teen years I actually liked listening too. They actually do a really good video to Lost In The Woods for Frozen II. They actually recreate the scene from the movie for the music video. This version is in the movie during the credits.
Definitely, I remember back in the day, putting on a game just to listen to the sound test for music.
Yeah, it surprises me Amazon has so much officially licensed character shirts, usually under the merch on demand label (I noticed that last time I ordered a Trolls shirt). Yup, Sofia the First is turning 10 this year, so it's reaching that nostalgia level for kids who grew up watching the show. Me, I saw it on Netflix a few years back, she had some cool interactions with the Disney Princesses, and Olaf. Speaking of, did you hear they're making Raya from Raya and the Last Dragon an official princess?
Yeah, she was more annoyed I was wearing a cartoon character I like, over anything else. Like, I did my school work and homework, it didn't affect my grades, but I guess me being a teen at the time, I wasn't "allowed" to like cartoons according to her. She was eventually fired, but it wasn't like I was wearing anything that broke the school's dress code or rules, or had anything inappropriate. It was a cartoon character, lol.
I agree, it's just this sort of stuff feels more acceptable nowadays. I can't count how many times I see people when shopping wearing shirts to fandoms they like, or browsing movies and games. As good as classic shows were, I feel better being a cartoon fan now, than years past when fandom stuff was less acceptable by others.
My dad was into sports, I wasn't, however a friend at school got me into WWE (then called WWF at the time), while it was presented like a sport, you have winners, losers, championships, it was more entertainment and fun to watch. I think other kids at my school mostly played Halo and Need for Speed, which the latter, I actually had a couple of them on GameCube. Underground 2 and Most Wanted. Will admit because of that, I get a bit annoyed when YouTubers say GameCube had no third party games since quite a few of them were, some weren't but a good chunk of them were. I remember Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Need for Speed, some Tom Clancy games, Rayman, all of which had GameCube versions.
Thanks. I hope I can get a Genesis Mini 2, I was really surprised to see a Puyo Puyo game get revealed on it.
@tekoii Yup, but it will be worth getting up for. Indeed, honestly after seeing Trolls, I started checking out other DreamWorks movies. The ones I saw before Trolls was Mr. Peabody and Sherman (underrated movie), the first Madagascar, and the first Shrek. I love Disney movies, I still need to see Big Hero 6. I have Baymax for Disney Infinity, yet I never saw the movie. Can do that I have Disney+ now.
Thanks, will do. Trolls World Tour is so much nicer on the big screen, there's so many little details spotted in that first showing I went to. Sad it never got its original theatrical release a few years back. Summer movie event has me and my friend covered!
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
@Sunsy
Here is one thing about Dodgeball Academia.
You can adjust the difficulty level as your desire by adjusting the Damage taken and Damage on opponent from 100℅ to 0%, so if you adjust damage taken by 0% and damage on opponent by 100%, you are a god already which you will take zero damage from opponent and you can do 100% damage to opponent. Even the Final Boss with his supreme power will just do zero damage on you. Yes, zero damage. Very wonderful, isn't it? 😁😅
Also, near of the end of game, there was a place you can buy grubs to level up the character level and their parameter permanently. Just only matter of money then you can create very strong dodgeball players with zero damage taken. 🤭
And for the money maker, you can get free $15.00 from successfully win the mini game in school toilet from a random boy over there. Keep farming the money as you want.
Btw, if you look at Dodgeball Academia character design in game, it looks very Paper Marioesque with 2D characters walking on 3D environments and the character design somewhat remind me of Gumballs from Cartoon Network. That was the reason I played Dodgeball Academia until finished.
Kao Kangaroo rebooted 2022 looks great on Steam and PlayStation machines. It has some alternative outfits even the Kao the Kangaroo 2 skins. I still unable to play Kao the Kangaroo since I bought the PS5 version and I don't have the machine yet. I can pick the PS4 version actually but my PS4 storage started to getting full so I gave the chance on PS5 version for the best performance on consoles.
Speaking about reality show, believe it or not if I like to watch America's Next Top Model , Britain's Next Top Model , Asia's Next Top Model from YouTube despite I found the shows were really problematic after I found the interview from former next top model contestants from ANTM especially and how was the show didn't help them in modelling career as it just a reality TV show with a lot of ridiculous challenge, tacky photoshoots, unconstructive critiques from judges, the tea behind the scene that shows the truth about next top model shows. I feel bad for the next top model contestants who got traumatized during the show and get struggled in building their modelling career. Even not all the winner got smooth sailing modelling career after the show. The irony, it has a video game too on NDS, Wii and mobile with title America's Next Top Model.
For cartoon series, I like to watch the cartoon series on Nickelodeon Jr such as Paw Patrol, Blaze and the Monster Machines, etc despite the shows have more personality than the games on consoles by OG Games. 😅

Reality shows are usually detested by many people these days, even those who tend to watch adult variety shows.
I think X-Factor was the one that really convinced me how toxic reality shows can be. The producers literally manipulated a young woman so that she gets humiliated on stage and screws up her singing. I think they changed something about the background music or something, throwing her off her rhythm when she tried to sing, and she ended up singing off-key. The producers also told her to do a Pink song, even though she wanted to do another song, and then she got judged by the judges for being a wannabe Pink imitator... What the heck?! Naturally, she lost her cool (I would have) and left the stage crying and screaming.
These reality shows are horrible and feel like they came out of a dystopian fiction like Black Mirror.
@Maxenmus I second you, but there are some really good reality shows out there that get tackled to the ground by watch some dumb people do something boring for an hour show or I make something show.
@Kermit1
Looking at Pokemon Live Stream like that, I was thinking if only Yokai Watch also get the same popularity like that. Even the Yokai Watch anime get rebooted on this year. I found the episodes on newest Yokai Watch anime are not always about Keita Amano discovered or encountered with Yokai phenomenon, but also highlight other Yokai in some random funny episodes to show more personality from each Yokai characters. I still waiting for Slugger from Yokai Watch 3 get highlighted on rebooted anime as he just only appeared on one episode as minor character from previous Yokai Watch anime. I really love that Yokai.
I think Yokai Watch is still popular in Japan but still being eclipsed by Pokemon popularity.
@NeonPizza Ya things have changed, I used to read the forums before I joined and then one day I bit the bullet and made an account, that was one of my happiest weeks of my life. I have no other social media because I'm not going to jump on a burning bandwagon.
Ever since I joined I've seen things change and I have a feeling it's not going to stop.
I have no friends and this site is the only human interaction I get besides my parents and younger brother.
I love NES and SNES games I just don't know if I should comment on them since most people seem to play on original hardware and I play on my Switch and ("cough" modded 3DS "cough"). If I had to rank my favourite NES games they'd be:
Super Mario Bros. 3
Legend Of Zelda
StarTropics
Super Mario Bros. (I've beaten it fully twice)
Kirby's Adventure
I have not beaten that many SNES games to make a list... Does Super Mario Kart count?
Thousands, millions of opinions being spewed out on a all social media platforms(YouTube being one of the holy grails obivously)because everybody has a platform to voice their shenanigans, while most of which are hiding behind a computer screen as anonymous thousands of miles away shielded and protected by what could happen otherwise if harsh words were said face to face. It's just continuing to reveal peoples true colors, because you know good in well that the vast majority, as in 99 percent would be all smiles in person if they were pitted face to face and none of the harsh BS that was written online would even make it out of their mouths. lol
That's the dilemma of Internet users. It's a great tool that encourages free expression through the illusion of safety one feels behind that computer, but that anonymity breeds a kind of boldness in you that inhibits whatever conscience you might have outside the Internet. The mentality of it is, "If I can get away with saying these harsh words, calling out that person's opinion I don't agree with without any consequences, then why shouldn't I?"
Moderation helps to a certain degree in curtailing bad behavior. But in my opinion, the NL moderation isn't the most effective as we still had insensitive posts acting passive-aggressive towards one another for different views, something I myself was guilty of too, which I'm trying to correct. Those posts weren't really removed even though I reported them, but whatever. We're human and we make mistakes. And of course, the blocking feature, even though I've used it myself, isn't really the most helpful form of communication either, as we've discussed before. I remember having this conversation on Discord the other day and someone else agreed that blocking someone and shutting them out from the conversation can feel like a form of bullying. I don't like having that kind of environment when I'm just trying to have fun, but since it's going to be an existing feature for the long term, there's not much I could do to improve that environment. People block me, and I become influenced to block others, and we go on a blocking party.
Anyways, i think my NL Forum days are coming to an end here. Things change, i get it, but it just isn't the same like it was during the VC-Reviews & Wii era, not even remotely close. I feel too out of place being at the end of my 30's now in the midst of teenagers and 20-something year olds. I started to visit this site back in 2007(I think it was) when i was 24, it's been a while.
It's a shame if that's true, your residence here coming to an end. Despite our difference in opinion sometimes, I felt like you were one of those I could at least have a decent conversation with while having fun, as opposed to just feeling awkward and nasty.
I did have a good day at my state fair yesterday...up until the weather went sideways. I should've grabbed my umbrella before leaving my car, but checking my phone showed the forecast didn't have any rain in the area....That changed later. I missed the initial dousing by being close to an indoor building at the time; the rain did let up after a bit. But standing in line for the (outdoor) concert to get admitted...I got drenched when it came back. So...yeah. Cold, wet, trying to keep my phone from getting too soggy....The concert did go on after almost a two hour delay, but the opening artist couldn't play as a result. The actual concert (Disturbed) was AMAZING, so I'm glad I stuck it out. I still don't recommend staying in wet things for 7+ hours though. The drive home was already rough thanks to wet conditions and occasional fog, and that didn't help lol.
Moral of the story: Take your umbrella or rain slicker for long-term outdoor outings, no matter what the ignorant weather people say. With how the wind was at one point though, I'm sure my feet would've gotten wet anyway.
As an aside: at one point, a girl dressed like a princess entered the line a ways behind me with someone in an inflatable Pikachu suit. You know things got real when THE MOUSE showed up to scare away the lightning....(It was thankfully never close, or I'm sure they would've canceled the concert)
@Kermit1 Don't know what's up, but I hope all is well! If you had a significant amount of blood drawn, that can wear you out. I donate blood every now and again, and I can't exercise the rest of the day or else I tire out easily. Usually no other ill effects.
@MarioLover92 I...admittedly have mostly just seen the newer Star Wars films, though I vaguely remember seeing part of one of the earlier films (I think A New Hope or Empire Strikes Back) when I was very young. I need to watch the main films in chronological order at some point. As for the pinball machine, they've let us play with the glass off before, and flying balls _usually) aren't an issue, but it has happened; I did have one jump once when the glass was on. Since it's a new cabinet, I didn't want to kill its legacy too soon. XD
As for where you're stuck in XC2, sure, you can put it up in Discord in the appropriate channel. Not sure if you can spoiler tag images though. Hmm....
@tekoii In terms of arcade machines, pinball is at the top for me. Some tables are definitely better than others. XD I'm now in chapter 4 and am progressing on the story a bit after doing a TON of exploring and quests; just watched Keves Castle nuke part of the Urayan Range, and now they're threatening Colony 4.... I don't plan on finishing every quest in the game, but I'm picking up most of them lol. As for my time off....I enjoyed it for the most part, other than the soaking (and therefore being cold/wet for several hours....).
@MarioLover92 Always a great time And yea.. I'm pretty hyped you did! I mean you can see from my reaction during the whole stream lmao.
@Sunsy Ahh.. okay. And I like the designs from a quick google of Mr Peabody and Sherman! Madagascar and Shrek are pretty cool. OH MAN. You gotta to see Big Hero 6.. its one of my favorites! When you do watch it, enjoy Ahh for sure..big screen releases help popularize whatever movie it is, so that's definitely a plus for that IP!
Thanks for comin out yesterday you guys, shout out to @TheJGG and @Snatcher for coming through too! Really helped to have a good celebration for my now 1 year here on NL! Kinda sucks though, I had to remove a part of the stream and had to reupload. So that means ALL the views, likes, and chat is GONE. Unfortunate, but I gotta just make sure I avoid having to do that next time. But regardless, thank you so much guys it was a great time
@Tyranexx I have no clue what's up with me either. I have an MRI this week so hopefully when I get the results from that we will know for sure, I will give an update when I have them though.
@Kermit1
not really... @NeonPizza it used to be really bad here with all the crying lol

@Tyranexx Yea, pinball machines are pretty rad. I'm a sucker for them light gun games though, those are always a grand time. Oh snap.. I uncovered the spoilers, saw the chapter, and super quickly averted my eyes lol. You're already ahead of me. ><; Ahhh I'm glad you had a great time on your outing outside of the deluge xD
@Tyranexx I want too, it'll help me deal emotionally with whatever the problem is (and from "where" it is it could be anything). I'm not worried because it's not in my control and I'm A-okay with needles.
