@BruceCM Is there other FE games you should play before Awakening?
@TheJGG I want to SO BAD because many people have told me it’s good, but I don’t want to go to a movie theatre currently, so I just have to wait 35 more days...
Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.
@Tyranexx Ahh I hear ya. It's good to be selective sometimes. I'm pretty flexible about stuff until January hits. That's part of the reason why I'm trying hard to focus on my Youtube channel and the associated bits.
Oh and for the gender part. Yea, I mean it really isn't a big deal. People is people. There are enough things dividing us these days.
Not particularly, @BabyYoda71 .... I wasn't the 1 that recommended you start with that, though Fortunately, you could play almost any FE game 1st as the stories aren't related, with the obvious exception of the trio of Fates ones
I'm glad i can consider a decent Boxing game Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions with good 3D graphics (that six pack they have so nice...) after waiting for 11 years. Boxing genre was really not popular choice for console during 2010's era as i really wish a cute Chibi Boxing / Kickboxing games in 3D with fighting style at least like Street Fighter. There was Boxing / Kickboxing game for PS1 by Agetec with title Boxing / Kickboxing. I thought the game idea was good despite of terrible 3D graphics during that era. I really missed a funny fighting game like Pocket Fighter by Capcom as developers keep making serious fighting games and forgot that whimsical fighting games looked more interesting to play (not that Smash Bros tho).
Actually i can share my Boxing / Kickboxing games idea to games developer (maybe indie developers) but since i am nobody important, just only a normal people who have a job as school librarian and amateur skill in digital drawing, i don't think i'm able to get into gaming business world. I can sell my character design and game concept or share my games idea but i cannot be a full time artist as my drawing skill is still amateur. Also, i will be 37 years old next month, too late for me to try to get into gaming business world with zero knowledge about them even just by curiosity share my ideas to games developer.
@BabyYoda71 My recommends are Awakening / Shadows of Valentia ^^ ... though their the only ones I've completed. Even between those two, the mechanical changes between em are interesting.
@Sdelintwouters
Believe it or not, i knew about Rocky 3 when i was a Kindergarten student during late 80's era, from my Mom VHS with compilation of movie shortclips and promotion about Betahifi VHS (one movie i remembered was one scene from James Bond Octopussy and Rocky 3 opening scene with Eyes of Tiger song).
Also, during my Kindergarten graduation party at my kindergarten school, there were some Primary students from my school performed a mini theatrical of Rocky 3 boxing fights (and there was a Boxing ring prepared as theater props). From those moments i really have interest with Boxing and Kickboxing sports since when i was a kid (and you can see from my avatar).
Here’s a question for Fire Emblem fans: What Fire Emblem game would you suggest to a newcomer to the series out of Awakening, Fates and Three Houses? (I couldn’t find a generic Fire Emblem series thread that’s still being used, but if there is one, could you send me the link? I’ll ask there instead)
I started with Three Houses as I thought it was the only one on the Switch. I have very mixed emotions on it. I've never played a FE game before and the story can be really dense. Like the general plot is fine, but they will make reference to like a lot of stuff in their world and it just means absolutely nothing to me.
The game can also be utterly overwhelming because it is all about choice, but making sure choices are finite so you can't just do everything on one playthrough. There isn't anything inherently wrong with this, but I don't think the game does a good job at any one time of really conveying to you the rhythm you should be following with it often overwhelming you with tasks.
The gameplay is a really mixed bag, too. I like squad based, grid, tactics games. Like I love the XCOM games so much and was always disappointed that so few games use XCOMs grid, squad, tactics with like a cinematic camera. This isn't quite that, but the closest I have come really outside of straight XCOM clones. But also, there is pretty much no variety to the encounters whatsoever, and the game is quite poorly balanced. The early portions will feel like a brutal slog, but eventually you'll be so strong, you're just clearing whole levels in like one turn through nothing but counter damage.
This is then offset with lots of almost visual novel like exchanges between characters, the occasional anime cut scene and this sort of school slice of life thing. Even when the story takes a darker turn - or at least it did in the path I am using - the school life stuff still remained. I know this isn't new in JRPGs, with games like Trails of Cold Steel and Persona doing similar stuff but it just ain't really for me.
It also runs pretty ***** docked, and is better served handheld. I've been using it as a game I play for an hour or two before I go to sleep and that has always definitely been enough each night.
@Zuljaras No, not necessarily. It helped to like the movie being half Asian but it was a good movie anyway. The fight scenes were so well choreographed, cinematography and editing was very intense at times and really slow and relaxing at others. I swear the fight scenes were filmed exactly how an ordinary indie Eastern movie would be filmed, obviously with the grandeur and scale of a $200m movie. I’ve also gotten over Awkwafina’s annoying phase and now see her as a pretty decent actress, especially after she did the Disney film, Selamat Hari Raya and Dragon.
@BruceCM I’m no Marvel fan at all, believe me. Haven’t read a single comic. But the MCU is genius. Perfectly executed format from the start. This movie is actually pretty good without thinking about the ties to the MCU, until you see Wong from Doctor Strange in a fighting ring.
Seeing it in cinemas was the best part actually. No crowd at all, only fifteen people max in a normal sized theatre. @BabyYoda71 unless it’s massively crowded where you are I highly recommend seeing it. Otherwise you’ll have to put up with me talking about it for five weeks!
@TheJGG I thought that Awkwafina was very annoying and her voice was bad but after Raya I saw how she could fit into movies. I watched her in The Hot Ones YT show and she really is a tomboyish girl that is actually likable Also she was not bad in Jumanji 2.
I will definitely watch the movie as I love Marvel stuff (even if I did not read a single comic)
Well, I haven't seen all the other Marvel films, @TheJGG .... But Shang Chi looks like it'd work as a martial arts action film & shouldn't need to have seen all the others!
I’ve never read a single comic either. But after WandaVision, I started watching all the movies in the order they were released, on Disney+. That was a great decision, because so many of them are so good... @TheJGG Yeah I’m in a place where there’s a LOT of cases, so I can wait a bit... at least I won’t have to wait 200 days like I would have had to a couple years ago.
For Fire Emblem, I think I’ll probably get Three Houses first, since it’s on Switch. I’ll wait until I beat Breath of the Wild first.
I realized part of the reason I’m not enjoying BotW as much as others is I started with the hardest Divine Beast, Vah Naboris. I managed to get all the terminals with the help of Zelda Dungeon, but then that BOSS FIGHT. It’s crazy.
Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.
