@TheJGG - Yeah, plenty of nice folks on the site, new and old, it’s just this bad faith practice that’s swept the world where we have sit through idiots twisting facts into opinion and treating actual opinions like facts. It’s exhausting and hard to watch, and it’s particularly brutal to tolerate intolerance. Ah well, I just stay out of the comments when I get sick of it, or mash the thumbs down button in a cathartic way.
@TheJGG I think a lot of people haven't realized website comments/forums aren't the same as social media. On Facebook, Instagram, it's a dynamic of mostly friends, some or most people know you in real life. Or it's at least, a gathering of more like-minded people.
Whereas a website's comments/forum, it's literally a gathering of strangers from around the world that you know nothing about. It's a different dynamic that requires a more awareness and maturity to recognize what things are likely to cause people to pile on & argue. That, and how-to-act, or being constructive in comments/forums amongst strangers isn't something that parents/teachers really teach. Or, maybe that's a flawed hypothesis.
@TheJGG Cool, recently watched Boss Baby Family Business, we have Peacock so it's on there and in theaters. Personally, found it better than the first movie. Tonight, mom and I are going to watch Independence Day as we do every July 4th.
Sorry, to say I'm not into horror movies. Just don't want nightmares. Which is odd in a way as I've played a psychological horror visual novel on PC called Higurashi: When They Cry, and like it. Great story, boy reading it can be really unnerving at times. Maybe it has more to do with actual visuals on screen for me when it comes to horror stuff, which explains movies.
@bimmy-lee Yeah, thing with forums is that they usually account for more text and therefore more articulation and thought are put into posts. Live chats are very fun here though, because the usual suspects are there and have a sharp sense of humour. Ironically the most quick communication is the most fun…
@WoomyNNYes You’re absolutely right, that’s been very important in my own integration here. Encountering and hearing from so many different people from all over the world is, nine out of ten times, awesome. I’d say that more and more people are finding friends in this exact environment so it’s not unheard of.
@Sunsy Happy Independence Day to you! Nice to hear that Boss Baby isn’t mediocre, I found the first one just that… shame to hear you don’t like horror but that’s fine, everyone has different tastes. I’m definitely interested in getting Doki Doki soon though!
@Snatcher Super’s manga is strange. It’s on a completely different track from the anime, kind of like how all the Yugioh manga got after duel monsters.

@TheJGG - I don’t think I’ve ever done a group chat, but they do sound fun. I subscribe to the first thought/best thought philosophy, especially when it comes to wit, sarcasm, and comedy. Bill Burroughs had a distinguished writing and speaking career based on it. He has a wonderfully inelegant quote on the matter that’s always stuck with me, I’ll have to edit slightly to be family friendly: Good writing should be like (diarrhea), it should just come out.

@bimmy-lee Come to think of it the man’s had a rather inelegant life, no? He shot his first wife after all, even if he credits that for starting his career. Brilliance punctuated by addiction, moments of true idiocy and poetry. The quote works though, the editing process shouldn’t be a rewrite but rather a fine sandpapering process.

@TheJGG Thank you! Yeah, mom and I both enjoyed the new one. Found some of the new characters pretty neat, the new boss baby Tina was cooler than I expected. Unlike the first movie, I really enjoyed the subplot how Tina was trying to get the two brothers Tim and Ted (the original boss baby) together again.
Indeed everyone has. I really hope people enjoy Doki Doki Literature Club, I played the original game a couple years back, one of those games best experienced knowing nothing about it. If anything, DDLC sparked my interest in visual novels. I've played Parascientific Escape, Higurashi, and Tokyo School Life because of it.
@TheJGG - Maybe he was elegantly inelegant. I’m surprised you know of him, I thought he was canceled. Is he still being taught in school, or did you encounter him on your own? I’m not exactly certain where you live, but it seems midcentury American beat lit wouldn’t be a big priority in your curriculum.
Whew...that comment section under that Metroid article yesterday...I started reading through it, then stopped when politics were thrown in for some asinine reason. I noped out of commenting in there entirely. Seems as though they've swollen exponentially since. Wouldn't surprise me if the comments are closed, but I'm staying out of there. It's not worth my time and energy.
While I certainly agree the title itself could have been framed a LOT better, I didn't find anything wrong with the written piece. There were some comments I disagreed and agreed with, but earlier on I found few of them inflammatory. But as things went on...woof.
