@bimmy-lee Yeah, guess I'm not a boomer, then. Sometimes it does feel like it though, when you see what younger people refer to as boomers. Personally, I see myself as in the middle. I'm more than tech-savvy enough, as well as reasonably up to speed with all that's modern and happening, but just not in agreement with all of it...

As for the prophet Bimfucius: I always thought that it was "you are what you eat"...

@Woomy_NNYes Yes, detaching yourself from social or online media every now and then can indeed be a good thing, every once in a while. However, panicking and also removing any and all comments, making other people look stupid because it seems like they're talking to air, definitely is not. He could have just taken a break and left his comments up.

And besides that, why go through the hassle to have to make a new account every time you come back again? You can just take that break, or just be not actively present on the site without having to do something so radical and rigorous. I think he just needs to learn to be a bit more sure of himself, and of the people on here, because there was also nothing weird in any of his comments, so there also wasn't any real need to remove any of his comments.

You and me both, buddy. You and me both. Would make things SO much more easier.

@kkslider5552000 Oh, don't get me started on censorship or localization. We've already had more than enough of that in article comments sections...

And yeah, we do agree for the most part, and I welcome your context, it makes sense. Some context of my own in return: I agree with your point that it has to matter, which is why I hate what has happened with station announcements, because A. it makes no sense and B. hardly anyone ever notices, unless you're specifically listening to it. It's just general announcements, for crying out loud...

When I'm at the station, all I look for and listen to is the time tables, NOT if they correctly address me or not. Now, a case where it DOES matter and where I actually DO understand the annoyance of certain groups, is in rest rooms/toilets, because there it's pretty much inescapable and certain establishments even forbid trans and/or other-gendered people to go to either of the regular toilets, so where to go then?

So, that for me is a clear example of "okay, I can understand that this is where they feel left out and/or discriminated", but let's just keep the general stuff, that was never meant to insult anyone in the first place, as it is instead of having this incessant need of wanting to change EVERYTHING to fit the box they're living in...

More so, because that straw that broke the camel's back, which may have rightfully caused this, could in return make the situation tip the other way. Groups wanting TOO much in too short of a time period, making the general populace even more annoyed with them than they already are, which will only inspire more discord or even hate, and that in turn will set our society back several decades instead of moving it forward, if only ALL sides could learn to be a bit more accepting and forgiving and/or understanding.

We can't cater to ALL groups overnight, and reversely, we shouldn't IGNORE all groups all the time, but there has to be a meet in the middle kind of thing first, before we start to attack, conform and/or contort established media and habits in unnaturally quick and twisted ways.

@Zuljaras I most certainly won't call you anything, but I do think that things aren't as black and white as that. It has actually already been genetically proven that embryos can form into one gender, but still end up receiving more genes of the opposite sex, essentially making them "being born in the wrong body". But that too isn't as black and white as that, so there's a lot more factors combined that could ultimately make one feel out of place in their own shell/body or not. I can understand that to some extent, and I usually try to respect that people can feel that way. It's their life, after all.

It's only when these small groups are starting to make big dents into society, in ways that cater specifically to them, that I start to feel annoyed and want to object, but otherwise, I'm mostly okay with it.

On a side note: I do agree with you on Anti. Sometimes, he just doesn't recognize context or knows limits. I attribute that to all of his traits, so not just where he comes from, but also his incomplete English language comprehension skills, and him being in the spectrum of autism. And of course his personal preferences. All of that combined probably makes what we see pop up here every now and then.

Best to just not let yourself get too worked up about it. I don't think he means any harm in general, he's just not always aware of the effects of his comments, but I see no evil or vile intent behind them, so better to just ignore it, if it bothers you that much. I do the same. I could write another text wall about what I really feel about those photos, but I won't, because it serves no purpose, other than to inspire more text walls in return, because he won't understand, and in the end, all it will create is negativity, so I just leave it be.

Better to focus on things we actually CAN achieve, right? Such as creative stuff like making clay figurines...

On a side note: discussing politics, at least in an elaborate and serious way, is actually forbidden on here. Like bimmy said, it can be mentioned casually, such as in the context of something like history or anything like that, but discussions about politics on their own are a big no, and you'll have mods knocking on your door in no time.
