@Ryu_Niiyama I don't think that "an eye for an eye" would be the right approach for things like these. It's sad that things like objectification has occurred and still does, to some extent, but turning the tables on it, will only fan the flames, and then the other side will want to get even again, and so on, and so on.

Better to just not give any of it any more attention (especially because that's just what most of them want, and it isn't deserving any), and just let it slowly fade from existence...

@bimmy-lee Heck, now I want to play this game after all!
I'm already imagining all the different voices you'd do: bar fly, wrestler, sports fan, gamer, and so on...

@Ryu_Niiyama anti beat you to the shirtless beefcake screenshot....

Also, scary Audrey DID dress a fair bit more provocatively than the rest of the Nintendo dress code in prior years.... She joined the club... Probably by directive, this year though. Her 2017 rants probably caught her some scrutiny

And, how did i not know about a perfume single?? Your supposed to keep me informed about such things!

@Ryu_Niiyama - Thanks! I like playing the weirdos hitting on her in Pub Encounter. It’s really very funny. She’s not totally casual either, she’s great at Ms Pac Man. Can’t wait to check out the new Perfume tune tomorrow now, thanks for the heads up!

Ok I'm not sure what to do exactly. I started taking Lexapro the other week and I finally got a Switch (yay) the only issue is I guess one of the side effects is that my fingers start trembling? In BOTW it's not an issue. But playing MK8 Deluxe is absolute torture because of my index fingers on the l and r buttons. So I'm not really sure what to do now.

I don't like Monster Hunter.

@ThanosReXXX - Haha, that’s exactly where the fun lies. I try a different voice for every character. It gets crazy and confusing. Obviously, these tend to be late weekend night gaming sessions, so I’m usually working with a handicap.

@ThanosReXXX As I said it is the low path. But I'll be very much dead and gone before things actually improve (things improve in one spot, get worse in others or backslide later). So I'll settle for both sides treating each other the same. It doesn't fade. It is pretty integral part of human culture. It might get better, but then you get the backlash and everybody claiming PC and SJW ... without thinking about what they are really saying which is "Why can I just call them the "historically offensive term", I'm not a bigot, those were simpler times." ...which ignores the fact that it was wrong from the start and just because something is socially acceptable doesn't make it right. Ignoring evil thinking doesn't make it go away...it just makes it acceptable. Smaller injustices ALWAYS lead to larger ones. We don't live in a world of peace or truth, we live in a world where the threat of war keeps peace and the threat of backlash keeps truth. If we didn't we wouldn't need police or laws or anything else because people wouldn't dream of being horrible to others and they would ostracize those that are. So short of Vulcans showing up, humanity will not get there. Which is why I find religion hilarious. We don't get along on the same planet, but supposedly if there is a deity we are all supposed to get along in an afterlife? Short of you burning out free will...lolololollololololololol.

Also that being said I personally am a fan of an "eye for an eye" (woo literally) because too many horrible people in this world get away with being horrible. If they won't better themselves then I say they should suffer the methods that they obviously deem fair. I am a Lawful Neutral kinda gal Knight Templar/Samurai ideal only not using religion as my moral code. (I would never do evil, or follow horrible laws but I firmly believe that if you have the "courage " to inflict horror upon others then you should be able to endure and even embrace that horror being done right back to you.) Often the ones that say turn the other cheek are doing the slapping. Actions have consequences, it is only by the mercy of the meek (not weak, meek) that many don't have to pay them. Most don't agree with that which I am aware of.

That being said I really don't want to derail on this today, and you and I can wall text. So I'll respectfully disagree. Perfume single tomorrow. I am in max happiness mode.

@NEStalgia Audrey, that's her name. I just remember the Japanese lady what went on the murder spree. Seriously, everybody else was like "oh let's sneak or look for a weapon" and she was like "BOMB THEM". I feel like her name was Chieko? Best part of the show for me.

I have anti matter on ignore so I would not have seen his screenshot. (I have no issue with him but he drives the English Nerd in me insane. Not a knock against him at all as it's my hang up, and it isn't like I always post perfectly, but I want to correct his grammar sometimes and that is rude... so better to just not see his posts. You can make an OCD joke now.)

...you fly by night Perfume fans have google...besides I tend to sound like the crazy "stan" (Is that correct? I don't know what the kids say now...) once I get going (I'm not but I've cried every time I've seen them in person and I pretty much have no empathy for anything...so that is saying something. ) so I try not to talk about them. Besides no one around me has even heard of them.

@bimmy-lee Haha, well, then you should have the bar fly down pat...

@Ryu_Niiyama Yeah, at my age, I don't think I'll live to see the emergence of enlightenment on the internet either, but we can always hope, right? The world is already gloomy enough as it is, and we need to be able to have some inkling of trust left, otherwise we might as well jump off of that bridge right now.

But to clarify: I'm not saying we should ignore evil thinking. I'm saying we should ignore idiots and extremists in comments sections. If you're going to react to people defending shady stuff in games, then you HAVE to know what you're setting yourself up for.

And that's also what I meant about giving these types attention. It's what they want, so don't give it to them, and if no one is listening to or responding to their trolling, flaming or whatever the heck it is that they're doing, then they'll take their business elsewhere, or at the very least will simply refrain from doing that, if only for the moment.

Personally, I do think social media and the like have really opened the doors even wider, because people that never had a voice, now do, and extremists can turn up the volume all the way to insane, sadly enough. And I'm no defender of misogynous behavior, far from it actually, but the world has also become WAY to sensitive to even the smallest of potentially insulting comment, look or touch.

Back in the day, when I still worked in a really busy call center, we'd look at our female colleagues all the time, and we made jokes about them, and with them, interacted with them and we even dared to touch their arm or any other safe body part when in conversation with them.

Nowadays, if a woman even THINKS we're looking at her the wrong way, it's #metoo and you're pasted all over the internet as a sex offender. No offense, ma'am, but that's ridiculous. That's also the very reason that I don't like or understand either PC or SJW people. The fact that they're given these labels, already tells me that they're extremes of something that in and of itself isn't bad at all, but by these people taking it to the next level, it becomes both annoying and laughable in equal amounts.

All we'd actually really need, is a bit of common sense, and respect, also for each other's tastes and opinions, and not try to (often also aggressively) win the other one over, because we think that our view or opinion is the only one that counts or matters...

As for your comment on religion: no, the bad people go to hell, remember? So, we'll only get to meet the people that are nice, and whom we could agree with. And the lesser idiots will spend some time in purgatory, awaiting a second trial...

But maybe they'd be better served if reincarnation was an actual thing. Let them come back as insects, or dogs: that'll teach them to be a bit more respectful and humble.

P.S.

In the Chit-Chat thread, derailing is impossible, since there is no topic. Although, come to think of it,
I suspect that even in that case, @NEStalgia would still be able to pull it off...

@Ryu_Niiyama yeah Chiko... She's hilarious because she's older than the rest and seems like the "or of touch soccer mom" of the group that just happens to be a professional translator. Then she plays and gets crazy into it. Remember the botw demo with the gravity ball shrine and she's screaming "my babies! My babies!" The whole time?

Ryu_Niiyama

@ThanosReXXX See, this is why is said to agree to disagree...ok text wall time.

Well I most certainly agree that we should ignore the idiots of the internet, but I still say they don't go away. That is what the ban hammer and ip bans are for. Aside from gaming I post on a few "lesbian" (quotes because this is the internet, but I at least want to pretend there are safe spaces for women like me) and we have to kick out dudes posting penis pics or porn even when you don't acknowledge them. The attention is a bonus for those types; it is the fact that they are somewhere they are unwanted, or intentionally doing something that disrupts an otherwise agreeable conversation that gets them their jollies. That will never, EVER go away. The human psyche's penchant towards evil is too great for that.

Recognizing Minus Ki doesn't mean that the goal of reaching Plus/Positive Ki is unattainable, just that it is not wise to expect that of humanity as a whole. Each individual must do their part in becoming positive and just. However that is a pursuit that very many will not take, because it is hard. So I will by all means try to better myself as a warrior and a woman, and I hope that in doing so that others choose to do the same, but I can only truly face one enemy in life and that is myself, the rest is floatsam/human nature. I don't why people take a needless extremist view for recognizing human nature. Just because I know humanity as a whole is crap doesn't mean that life is not worth living, in fact it makes this pursuit of being a better person that much more enriching. So no I'm not going to jump off a bridge, I'll just try to be a little bit better each day. I want to put out plus ki but not with a naive belief that others feel as I do or that humanity wants to be good and positive.

Somewhat getting back to your extremist comment but I don't think labeling everyone as an extremist or sensitive because they may see a side to something that you don't is correct either. Don't get me wrong there are nutjobs everywhere...the human brain is varied and despite what we try not to say now it can very much be broken. However is it PC because it is an absurd view or just because you don't like it? I don't like being called a B-word even though many women will call each other that. Because the word is derogatory (in no world is being equated to a canine in heat a good thing) in its nature and its intent. Someone saying "I'm just joking" isn't going to change that. I'm sure that you would say that I'm too sensitive, and I suppose that is your right, but I always believe that your right to throw a punch ends at somebody else's nose. Is it so hard to leave someone alone and be respectful? Perhaps, and it I suppose shows a difference in culture. I'll admit that I am out of step with that most often. However I take it as a manner of pride. I am polite, honest (seriously I am a HORRIBLE liar.) and respectful, and I take pride in that. Most of the world isn't, I have a right to be bothered by that , but I don't expect people to change, because that requires empathy for the root reason for my offense. Most people don't care. They only care if they feel that they are being disapproved of, but again, silence isn't righteous thinking it is merely an unwillingness to I won't accept this. Yet at the same time speaking up means having to put up with people that find you too sensitive, not particularly because it is true, but because their horrid behavior is now under scrutiny. Going back to your interactions with females comment, part of that is heterosexual by play, so a woman may accept or be flattered by inappropriate for the location (such as a workplace) behavior because she reciprocates. One person's perception of an act doesn't change the nature and appropriateness of the behavior. As I am not hetero I'm very aware of how overly sexually charged many heteros have their common interactions to be again my view is on the appropriateness of it. You on a date or with your spouse or at home? Be as kinky or crazy as you want. It doesn't impact me. I'm quite enamored with the female form and mind, but the only person that knows it is the woman I'm dating. Place and time for everything. Now, I'm well aware that as a gay woman growing up in America and from the South that has some bearing on my viewpoint. I am polite, I don't like PDA, but when even talking about your girlfriend gets you a lecture about you are evil and going to burn (grew up Free Will Baptist) but every Disney movie is about hetros hooking up and heteros can talk vulgarly about one another and "that's ok" then I'm left going if sex is so taboo, why is it EVERYWHERE? So that could make me "sensitive" I suppose, but I like being a respectful person so honestly even if everybody was on the objectification parade I still wouldn't be because that is how I'm built mentally.

You mention common sense but I know you are well aware that is an oxymoron, humans are tribal. We will never ever truly respect each other. So who defines healthy respect, why does someone that has unwanted attention or touch foisted upon them have to be quite in asking for it to stop? Aggression is the only thing that humanity (not individuals but our species) responds to as a whole. Protests, wars, ritual suicides, imprisonment, riots, lawsuits, legal retribution. Nothing has every truly been solved by asking someone one to respect you. Humans have no true sense of empathy. Men often don't care what is said or done to a woman unless they have daughters. As if the only way that is wrong is you have to imagine it done to your kid (maybe their mother or wife). Women will kick a dude in the groin with no though as to how that may feel or if there is another alternative because we don't have the body part to care about. Men make fun of menstrual cycles and pregnancy because they can't experience it. It goes on and on back and forth. No one looks at another person and sees a fellow human (in America land of gun worship, that makes you a hipster.) and that is why I say if you won't make the decision to better yourself, not because some one asks you but because it is RIGHT, then you should eat your own poison.

I don't have time to waste on being held accountable after we are dead. Again asking the meek to wait rather than know peace and justice in life. That's just a shackle.

@NEStalgia Like I said it isn't fair. I'm sure anti matter has some worthwhile posts...but it makes my eye twitch. I'd rather be polite and not have a stroke. I am also certain he has improved just by virtue of posting, but I am afraid to check. Besides in my own defense I take myself to task, that is why I don't post in the Japanese sites I visit. Could I communicate? Sure, but I don't like broken language and hate to subject others to it as well. Also, I tend to be very literal, I like to say what I mean and mean what I say. I use hyperbolic language for effect or to make a joke from time to time...and to keep from text walling but in general the text walls are my actual thoughts rather than something distilled into a meme or something for effect. I may not always show it but I was taught to have a great respect for language, (thank you American culture for judging AAs on how we speak) and that was drilled into me from a young age. So I can't turn it off, but I feel that someone would misunderstand me who doesn't feel the same about language (words have MEANING they are not "just words" or we might as well as bark. People have so many misunderstandings because they have no respect for language. That is more on native speakers though and nothing to do with an ESL person) and think I am being a "grammarnazi" (again words have meaning and languages have rules, just because a person is lazy doesn't change that). So I'll just be odd over here in my little corner.

@Lucarianzx I have lexapro, the second smallest dosage. It may be a temporary side affect as your body gets adjusted, but if you’re finding that it’s affecting your grip strength, definitely call your physician Monday. But, and I stress this, DO NOT listen to anyone other than a medical professional that suggests you immediately stop taking it. Read all the paperwork, and also check to see if your insurance plan has a nurse line you can call (I know BCBS does)

I originally meant to comment on this, I also had tremors when I started taking lexapro. Talk to your doctor, they may need to check your dosage. That being said I had to be taken off of it because while I wasn't depressed anymore I was apathetic and after I nearly crashed my car for "fun", I went right back to the doctor and asked what's up.

@Ryu_Niiyama Well, you certainly weren't kidding about text-walling...

But in all seriousness: we actually agree quite a bit, for the most part. But for me, or perhaps I should say in the environment/society/country that I live in, I've found that ignoring idiots, bullies and ESPECIALLY attention seekers really helps. You know how it works: trolls know how to trigger people, and will always get at least one person to respond to them, allowing them to start their back and forth game, in an effort to keep the useless and often times rather insulting argument going and going for as long as they can.

It's their adrenaline, their high, and all I'm saying is, specifically in relation to this small world of online gaming communities, to simply not give them the time of day, because that's what they want you to do. And I don't cater to individuals like that, so I ignore them. And I do so without using any automated ignore feature...

As for my mention of interaction with women in the work place: I thought that mentioning the "touching in appropriate places" would already make it clear that there wasn't any sexual intent and/or tension involved. Just a friendly pat or tap on the hand, wrist, arm or shoulder, much like I would do with a male co-worker. I used to be a team leader, so that's how that sometimes came about. I never meant anything disrespectful by it, and I've also never received any complaints or accusations of harassment, and not because I was some kind of powerful or intimidating person, but simply because I was always respectful towards women, and still am, and I'm also the most social person you'll never meet.

And as such, you also don't have to put lesbian in quotes, as I'm perfectly fine with you being whatever you are, or liking whatever you like. I put out the same things you do: honesty, respect and politeness, but my intent of doing that, is expecting (not hoping: hope is for the weak) that people will return the favor. If they don't, then they're not worth my time and energy. And I like and respect people that are able to take a hit, or a joke, and not feel all hurt and defensive about it (or become offensive in some cases).

I also don't think that all of humanity IS bad, but I do believe that we all have the capacity to BE bad, but that doesn't mean that we are, and there's always a choice. I wouldn't be able to live my life comfortably in a world where all people being bad was an absolute truth. But, at the same time, I can understand and respect your view, because I like to think that I can at least imagine part of your personal struggles being you in the environment that you grew up in, and of course that would influence younger you into becoming the person you are now, with the views that you now have, so fair enough on that part.

Oh, and if I were your co-worker, and I'd see or hear someone calling you a b****, then I'd more than likely give them a thorough ear washing, or a slap in the face, although if it would be a woman, that would probably once again expose me to the danger of being #metoo'd...

Either way, I don't like name-calling, especially of women, but you might have already guessed I don't, since
I already mentioned in my previous comment that I don't appreciate any kind of misogynous behavior.

And in closing, the common sense I'm talking about, is of the most basic kind, and besides that, more or less synonymous (for me personally) with the positive traits that I put out there, and that I expect people to return to me. And I also don't need any book, holy or judicial, to tell me what is right or wrong, and what I should or shouldn't do. And so do you, and we're probably not alone, so maybe, in a worst case scenario, it's a minority, but there's still hope for humankind...

@ThanosReXXXI tried to warn you, and I trimmed it. LOL, the lesbian in quotes wasn't for me. it was for when I run into others that claim the name but aren't. I'm gay as all get out, there is no greater creature in this universe than woman, swoon. I'm just quiet about it here because time and place. I come to NL to talk about games and Nintendo. I always say if you want to actually have a debate with me, email me. my username with no underscore at gmail. NES can sucker me into a text wall on occasion but I'm trying to stop that. I always feel bad about derailing and even in a text wall its hard to convey what you truly mean because you have to rapid fire out rather than a meaningful conversation. I hate that.

I suppose our basic difference is how we view humanity as a whole. For me humanity as a whole is pretty much wasted potential. We have the ability to think and reason but most of us are on auto pilot. When you put a creature to its most base it is negatively selfish. I believe in positive selfishness, in the individual refining oneself to their best and if each individual does this it in turn betters our species.Instead the brilliant are consumed by the corrupt but they have legacies (broken legacies as their ideals are warped but still those are our baby steps as a species. I believe that altruism is horrible because it is the expectation that you give all of yourself for leeches that will not use that gift to better themselves as well. To me that is the equivalent of giving a person a fish after your rod breaks. They eat, you starve and they look for another sap (my mother is a vocational rehab specialist and I used to be a disability determination examiner...people suck.) . However that's why I am a hobbyist, I have two hands, one eye, a strong back and a mostly sound, semi-intelligent mind, what can I create with these things? When I wake up I always ask myself, what kind of woman will you become today?

Anyway, I agree with not giving trolls their due, but my point was that it really doesn't change much. They are as persistent as the sunrise. anywhoo. Moving on.

....did you change your name?
