@BlueOcean: The image I linked could very well be broken. XD It was late when I did that. I can't see it on mobile, but I had assumed that it was a mobile issue only.
To summarize, it was a gif of people getting hit by buses. Repeatedly.
@ReaderRagfish So it's not just the joy-con... Whatever arcade stick you get don't buy it just because of the platform it supports. Every console use a different controller protocol this generation but if you buy a good arcade stick you can use it on any console or even on future consoles if you use appropriate converters. I bought a Mad Catz (SFV Tournament Edition S+) arcade stick because it uses Sanwa buttons and stick (the ones used in fighting arcade cabinets). I use it on PS4 and Xbox One (With a Brook converter) and the quality and feedback are really amazing.
@ReaderRagfish: Hmm, that's definitely odd how imgur behaves. I had noticed that it didn't seem to show up properly after posting but figured it was because I used a mobile device (90-95% of my browsing here is on mobile). I've posted images before that worked perfectly fine on my laptop, but not my phone.
@ReaderRagfish The Hori stick is pretty nice. Do it. Do it!! DO IT!! You know you wanna'! It's not the best fight stick on the market, but it's very much not bad. I do prefer my Razer on Xbox for serious fighting games....Sanwa parts are "just right" for me, and the shape of the deck is better lapability, but the Hori is really nice kit for a Nintendo machine (and for less money than the Razers...) The Razers are extremely similar to the mad Catz @BlueOcean mentioned (They're designed by the same guy. Razer picked him up when Mad Catz went under.)
My stick isn't listed on the supported list or the unsupported list for controllers that work on the brook converter though, so it's a bit of a stab in the dark. Weirdly, a bunch of PS4 controllers are in those lists which makes no sense since there's a different converter for that. I might try one though. I have the Hori but if I could just use my one stick on both that would save my room space.
This blue eye perceives all things conjoined. The past, the future, and the present. Everything flows and all is connected. This eye is not merely seen reality. It is touching the truth. Open the eye of truth... There is nothing to fear.
@ReaderRagfish The Hori RAP on Switch (same unit as available on other platforms) is definitely a solid stick. It's not quite as nice as some in a few areas, but it's quite nice in general.
The Hori parts are legit arcade parts Hori makes. Some people prefer their buttons and sticks more than others, but they're definitely not as common an arcade part (and invisible outside Japan.) The stick is pretty good. A little more "clicky" than Sanwa and Seimitsu, and a bit floppier, IMO. The buttons have less resistance, and less traversal than Sanwa. That's preference, but they feel a little flat. (Some prefer that though.) It's a very good stick.
As for the Razers (and the nearly identical MadCatz before it) it's a mixture of the stock Sanwa parts that people tend to prefer more often than not, but also just a really well designed, solid enclosure, and it's built for modding. I'm not into modding but it's nice to know I can easily replace sticks and buttons at a minimum. The Hori isn't really designed to be non-destructively opened. It can be done, but the Razer/Catz just pop right open on a pneumatic hinge just like real arcade cabinets, and you just pop the buttons/sticks out from below. It's also just great shape.weight/dimensions for lapability versus the elongated Hori deck (though the Hori has a nice metal bottom deckplate the Razer lacks.) Hori also makes a few with the squared off dimensions as well, but they usually have alternate button layouts.
It's not necessarily "better" (sanwa preference aside), it's just a nicer total package all added up (though the detachable cable is a definite weak point.) I enjoy using it more (personal ergonomics), but I do think a lot of internet praise for it over "all others" comes down to modability which is all the rage with a lot of fight stick enthusiasts.....I'm not too interested in that. Repair-ability is nice though. As long as the cord/connector don't fail, anyway.
@ReaderRagfish Mad Catz and Razers are the best because of the Sanwa parts and built quality, which is also important: size, weight, comfort, materials, etc. People also rate them high because of replaceable parts.
EDIT: Just read NEStalgia, we said basically the same but I used two lines. I really love my arcade stick, it surpassed all my expectations.
@ReaderRagfish The price drop (launch price was same as Razer's) could be because Mad Catz was absorbed, not sure.
Yes, the Sanwa parts is personal preference but I can assure you that the "clickness", resistance and traversal are perfect even for not professional players such as me, a perfect balance between comfort and precision, great for casual and competitive gaming.
Both Mad Catz and Razer were $200 but Mad Catz prices dropped. The Mad Catz Ryu edition (Tournament Edition 2+) was a bit more expensive ($230) than the Shadaloo edition (Tournament Edition S+).
@BlueOcean Makes sense, all I saw were low priced listings on Amazon and eBay for the sfiv stick, so I just assumed that the Razer stick’s price was discounted to $200.

@ReaderRagfish yeah it's definitelya preference thing. Most don't prefer hori but some definitely do.
I'm not sure what msrp was during madcatz heyday. I'm sure razr may be more expensive just because it's razer and automatically premium.
But there's certainly nothing wrong with the hori. It's a fine stick. It's high quality, and the buttons are the most devicive part. Their older buttons were actually more sanwa like. The new hyabusas are the low travel ones. The square horis have the older buttons, but the NOIR layout. If not for the odd layout, i may have grabbed the xb tekken7 hori, since it features my main main Asuka.....otoh itd feel kind of creeperish.
