Tell me, what was going through the developers minds when planning the Dark Wizard's and Mindflayer's moves in Final Fantasy 1?
It was a product of the time, unfortunately. But yeah, I hated those guys. And they're not even the worst it gets...
Even in remakes such as Final Fantasy Origins, this could be improved on though.
They fixed the glitches. That's the most Square-Enix's remakes have ever fixed.
Having a Normal type of difficulty that's more so suited for a harder difficulty doesn't count as a glitch or issue that needs any sort of fixing?
1) No, not really. That was how the game originally played on the NES, but now with less glitches and attacks that automatically reroute to a living opponent if your original target dies. Trust me, the NES version was way worse.
2) The Origins version has an easy mode, so you really have no reason to complain. You cou;d've chosen that difficulty if you didn't want to deal with NES era difficulty (then again, why would you play an NES Era game if you didn't want to deal with its difficulty?)
3) Most Final Fantasy remakes don't fix anything. I think even Final Fantasy VI Advance still has some broken stats and a Blind status that doesn't work. They're usually cosmetic upgrades with terrible, needlessly frustrating bonus dungeons that offer game-breakingly powerful equipment as rewards tacked on. The only other attempt at improving the original games were Final Fantasy III (which was more a sidegrade than an improvement) and Final Fantasy IV DS (which looked like this). I guess what I'm trying to say is: They could've done worse. Because they have done worse, and will probably continue to do worse.
I don't remember any of those enemies being unfairly hard...
Then again, since I have only played the PSP and GBA rereleases of FFI, I have only played the easy mode, I guess.
Talking about FF, I really hope they release the 3DS port-make here. I'd love to buy the same game a third time.
If you saw that formation in the original, it was pretty much an instant game over if your speed was lower than the monsters'. In later versions, they're not as bad, but your party is still going to get their world rocked.
I just realized that I'm going back to school starting tomorrow. I mean, it's just one course, and I signed up and got all ready for the course a while ago...but still, I'm sweating bullets. This is serious, dude. I got priorities now...gotta get ready to do less wasting time on the internet and spend at least an hour or two every day doing homework. Then again, it's a math class...hopefully it won't be too bad, but I did try to read the textbook when I got it and I have yet to finish the first section...as in, like, I barely read 4 pages...I can't lose this one, not again! I gotta focus!
A local thrift store got in a bunch of OG Xbox stuff (some of the more notable being Halo: Combat Evolved, two different Dead or Alive games, Metal Arms, Outrun 2, & Sonic Heroes), but as I'm not sure which games the 360 is BC with (as I've heard it's pretty scattered in terms of compatibility), I didn't pick any of them up.
They'll probably be gone by next week, the next chance I'll get, too... (well, at least the good stuff)

It's not that I don't have any games to play, (I'm playing Monster Hunter, lol) just...having a hard time finding people to talk to elsewhere. Kinda why I came here, lol
