I'm not dismissing the iPad. I have an iPod Touch, and frankly I'm getting bored with it. Does the iPad have it's own exclusive games? Or are most of them "ports" of iPod/iPhone games? I'm genuinely curious.

And the main thing I look at is price. Price is a very important factor to me, as well as many other people. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on something unless I'm sure I will get my value's worth.

I understand that the iPad and iPod have altered the portable gaming market considerably, for better or worse. Perhaps Nintendo should try tapping into that market, but Iwata is afraid that would hurt their hardware sales.

Sony is in a slightly better position. The Vita is like a mashup of an iPod and PSP (the Vita uses the same capacative touchscreen as the iPod Touch), and like I said earlier, it will make porting iPod games to the system much easier. Also, Sony has a much better grasp at the digital market than Nintendo does.

Sony is trying to do two things with the Vita:

• tell people that handhelds are still relevant
• and try to lure in those iPod players

Iwata claims that Nintendo is getting better with their online services, but until I see what happens with the Wii U, I will remain doubtful. I hate to say this, coming from a longtime Nintendo fan, but it's obvious that Nintendo might be in trouble if they don't adapt to the changing market.

There's quite a few games that are exclusive to iPad, or the iPad significantly improves in HD.

I don't use my phone for gaming since getting the iPad, the difference really is massive - think Game Boy Color to Nintendo DS.

HD is just a visual upgrade. Does it really enhance the gameplay? The game plays the same regardless of if it's in HD or standard-definition.

I played my Xbox 360 on an old TV, and the games played just fine. Since then, I've upgraded to an HDTV, but I no longer have the 360, so I can't really say if HD is worth it.

Ok let's try it this way. Try playing a HD game on a Game Boy Color sized screen. Then try playing on a 40-inch plasma.

There's the difference. Plenty of games make great use of the additional screen real estate and additional power of the iPad.

I just can't talk myself into an iPad given that I already have a 13" Macbook Pro that already goes everywhere with me. Losing the physical keyboard is a deal-breaker for me. And gaming on the iPhone drains the damn battery too fast, although I can't completely give up Doodle Jump just yet. Baby steps maybe. LOL

Try Infinity Blade. It drains the iPod battery in about a half hour.

I might like an ipad but as for an ipod i need my phone to actually talk on. The batteries dont last long enough for me to risk gaming on when an important phone call may be cut short. Its great for gaming in short bursts but still i prefer a separate device and leave my phone for talking and texting. Those Vita videos look amazing though. I plan on getting it... hopefully.

I'm getting more and more excited by the minute.

First off, I know zero people who buy an Ipad exclusively for games (I could see how in Australia the thing would be a godscend though, considering games cost way too much over there.) Don't get me wrong, there are some really good games on the app store (anyone with an Ipod touch or Ipad needs to get Groove Coaster and Mega Mall Story right now.) The Ipad is a multipurpose device. I got my Ipod Touch because I could listen to music, watch videos, browse on the web, etc.
On a side note, the Vita looks really good. I loved my PSP for all of the games on it, be it Peace Walker or the numerous JRPGs on the thing.

i didnt see any AR in that trailer. i saw pictures being taken, and editing to make parts for his "monster". thats not augmented reality, unless i watched the wrong trailer

Still not all that impressed. Looks nifty, but I'll wait for some interesting games. The graphics are nice though.

Lol'd at the fighting game though. I'd rather play that DSiWare game Photo Dojo than that mess x)

I'm only buying a Sony console for LBP. That's why I'm not getting one.
Never even touched a Sony console, 'cept a PS2 I got somehow.
I wish it wasn't an exclusive. My life could be complete.

For 3ds i like Super mario world, kart7, and wings resort. For Vita so far i like wipeout, and hot shots golf. If only I had all the money in the world.

After some hard thought I think I'm leaning towards a PS3 over this. Not sure where my Nintendo systems stand in relation, though.

ahhh...... I remember a time when we could have threads on here that didn't turn into Waltzelf defending the iPad..................Good times..............Face it Waltzy your in the minority,the iPad sux balls at real games and anything with super HD graphics drains the battery too quick,oh and there freakin huge!.Sure they are a good device and are very multi fuctional but this thread is about the Vita videos that were posted, not about the F*&%$n i(sux)Pad.Give it a rest please. _{sorry for the rant dude but it just seems like every thread or feature recently on here desends into Fanboy ranting (oh I forgot your not a fanboy ,you just do a good impresion of one!)}
Anyway trailers look good I just really hope that Sony get some really deep games like Fallout and Dark Souls on there.Then I'll buy one.Far too many games to play on current systems after November.I'll probably wait till next Xmas before getting one but it looks like a great system

The Vita isn't coming out till next year.

As soon as I get one you'll know one person at least. Lot of great stuff on there that I want to play. Now I just need $500.

Not that it matters, that's a pretty limited argument. I don't know anybody that buys computers specifically for gaming, yet that doesn't mean there isn't a large and lucrative PC gaming scene. It just means I don't know a lot of big PC gamers.

I don't get why people would spend $500 for a handheld device. Remember when the PS3 launched at $500, and people complained about it being too expensive? Why does Apple get away with it? The iPad is way overpriced, just like most of Apple's other products.
