I can't see how people don't think that LittleBigPlanet trailer looks awesome.

Maybe it's because certain people find the LBP games to be terrible...

OK, but assuming you watched that trailer, you didn't think the AR stuff looked fantastic? It's light years ahead of what the 3DS is doing with AR.

i didnt see any AR in that trailer. i saw pictures being taken, and editing to make parts for his "monster". thats not augmented reality, unless i watched the wrong trailer

Silly AR features isn't going to save that dreadful game.

On topic though: I'm interested in an Ipad. Very much so. But I don't have 500+ dollars sitting around and I don't want the games for it. But its always nice to know they're there.

I don't get why people would spend $500 for a handheld device. Remember when the PS3 launched at $500, and people complained about it being too expensive? Why does Apple get away with it? The iPad is way overpriced, just like most of Apple's other products.

Because while I want it for games, just like how people will spend thousands of dollar for a laptop it allows them to do other things. I'm a cartoonist (as a hobby) for instance, so as a bonus I could also use it to finally add color and ink to my comics since I couldn't use Gimp to save my life. I can also use it to watch movies and anime (free via crunchyroll), and do a hajillion other things with the inexhaustible amount of apps. It's called multifuctionality, something that allows people to justify spending large sums of money. For instance, even though the PS3 was expensive, people still bought it because it was a Blu-Ray player that also plays games. It can do more things, so people will use it more, so there's more justification to spend the money. I know my mom's boyfriend has one and uses it almost constantly. I bring my iPod Touch with me everywhere I go, while my 3DS never leaves home. With all the things the iPad can do, it might as well be physically attached to me. I just know that the #1 thing I'll be using it for will be games.

John Koller on handheld vs mobile gaming!

GS: So with the 3DS struggles and the PS Vita coming out, this is a point of speculation for lots of people. How significant is the impact that smartphones and tablets have had on the traditional handheld market like the PSP and DS?

JK: We view that as two separate demographics, and we've done a lot of quantitative and qualitative research to back this up. When you look at the type of consumer that's playing cell phone games currently, it's someone that enjoys smaller "kill time" gaming and has not gravitated to the larger, richer, deeper experiences that true handheld gaming provides.

We've certainly seen that on the PSP, and I know Nintendo has probably commented on it for their products, but as we go toward the PlayStation Vita, I can tell you that as we started looking at that product and the market opportunity several years ago, we saw a real strong demographic for those deeper, richer, console-type experiences. We had them on PSP, but we've taken them to a new level on PS Vita with the entirety of new ways to play.

That "new ways to play" idea, particularly for Vita, really differentiates from what's available on mobile phones or tablets and, frankly, what will be available on those platforms over the next three to five years. You're going to see PS Vita expand what a lot of people believe to be true about handheld gaming, and you're going to see a lot of those current mobile phone and tablet gamers come over to Vita. We're very convinced of that.

Now that's going to help me feel better the next time someone with an iPad mocks and makes fun of my precious 3DS.

The problem with this, and Nintendo's attitude as well, is the assumption that the iOS devices are incabable of these "deeper, richer experiences."

Yes, the quantitative and qualitative research is there to show that there are plenty of people want those experiences. They're still not going to by a Vita or 3DS if their iOS devices already do that.

Turnip

I do stuff on my iPod touch more then any other console/handheld. Why? Because my iPod touch isn't only for gaming, it has many GREAT photo editing programs (Pixlormatic) And, because i'm interested in drawing, many sketching/painting apps (Sketch book mobile by autodesk), and if you need to scan a document, drawing, etc. there are TONS of apps for that (Jotnot) then there are the music apps, my favorite being, VEVO. Also, on the iPod touch you can watch videos on youtube, check your email, video chat, etc.

I love both my iPod and my 3DS xD

THE END.(Sorry for the poor grammar :3 it's not exactly my best subject.)
