Topic: Smash Bros. General

Well, since my SSBM General fell to the bottom of the abyss that is this forum, I've decided to make a thread that encompasses all of the Smash Bros. games. Don't turn this into a flame war over which game is better, etc... and if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all!

Fox changed a lot between the first and second game, making him super hard to control? That slide attack or whatever it is, does anyone else have troubles with it?

No I find it very easy to control him

Are you talking about wavedashing, waveshining, or one of his attacks? And Fox is actually really easy to control in Melee you just gotta have really fast reaction timing considering he's one of the fastest characters in the game.

Anyway I could never get into these games I rented the first one on N64 I think it was and I just couldnt get into it. It seemed more like a cross between a fighting game and a platformer. I dont know if the later games in the series changed that forumla but to me it just seemed more like a game of chicken than a fighting game. Most of the time that I lost it was cause people knocked me off of the platforms. I wish they would make a Mario fighting game something like SF or SC.

I have gotten more entertainment from brawl than any game EVER! I got i when it came out and still play it regularly. I've mastered alll of the characters long ago, and it's still so fun!

I personally prefer Smashboards: http://www.smashboards.com/ , but I definitely believe that this forum needed a little Smash love in it, anyway.

Also, I've been playing SSB64 alot lately. My mains are Jiggs and Donkey Kong. Anyone else root for Jiggs in 64?

Despite most of his flaws, I really like using and abusing him. :3 _{not in a bad way... you sickos, you know who you are}

While I love the first, enjoyed the second, I find Brawl is unplayable mostly because I'm spoiled by playing the first two for so long, my expectations are so high, and Brawl just doesn't come close to them. Kind of wish I didn't play the first two titles so much so that I could actually have fun with Brawl, but all I can do is point out the ridiculous amount of flaws during most matches, even if I'm just watching.

^The gameplay was better in Melee, but everything else is better in Brawl: from graphics to music, number (and variety) of characters and stages to different game modes. And arguing that smash bros to N64 is better than brawl is like arguing that Wolfenstein 3D is better than Modern Warfare (or Black Ops). Just absurd.

It's not absurd to hold the creator of a genre, to one that simply repeats it's core mechanics every year.
No doubt Black Ops is more mainstream and popular, but it's done nothing to better the genre, or the industry, where Wolfenstein 3D took gaming to a level it never knew before. Feel free to bring up Maze Wars if you want, but it was more of a tech demo than an actual game.
Also, considering gameplay is what defines a game, if one game has better gameplay, than it's a better game.

Grumble grumble stupid waste of coins, stupid shooter game. Other than that this game is awesome. Brawl is better with the final smash. Getting the smashball when i play is like winning the lottery. It is very amusing when the jigglypuff gets the final smash.
