Adam West is a real person. And it's cute you guys think those side characters are interesting but other than it being your opinion, I bet none of you couldn't write a paragraph to why you feel those characters are memorable.(And its quite sad because that show had a lot of potential and a lot more time to do so.)
Now take a show like Dexter and I could write you an in-depth summary of why any character in that show (that has appeared in more than 5 episodes), is memorable.
I don't think there is one memorable character on that show. At least American Dad shows some story to the characters rather than revolving around a mentally challenged father who thinks he's smart and right about everything. (Peter Griffin)
Brian and Stewie are incredibly memorable; especially as a duo. They're lucky they snagged Adam West too. And, like, Quagmire, hellooooooo. Everyone knows "giggity."
Regarding the "mentally challenged father that thinks he's smart and right about everything," that's what makes Peter funny. Stewie is the intelligent one while Lois is the understanding one. It's fun to watch the dysfunction in the family, not watch them work together to achieve a common goal.

But Dexter has started riding the suck train. (both the show and the books) But I agree with your point.
WAT!

you just proved his point.

Agreed, dysfunction is what made The Simpsons such a hit. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But nothing tops Futurama, that show is possibly the most unique cartoon I've ever seen. So imaginative with great character development and voice acting (mostly from Billy West). I'm so glad Comedy Central and Fox brought back the show. I really missed it when it was cancelled years ago.
My One Paragraph Report on Brian's Gay Cousin That I Only Know From One Episode
The gay cousin in Family Guy is symbolic of the changing attitudes towards gays in American culture. Despite being an animal, Jasper finds himself attracted to a human. This same-gender, cross-species relationship shows that love knows no boundaries. Even family guy, can create such a memorable character through the use of an emerging social culture.
Btw, comparing Dexter to Family Guy is Petarded. lololol, that was punny of me. I should write for Family Guy. I Should write for Family Guy! O:<
Haha, I made two references to Family Guy there.
btw, Jasper is not a memorable character. I was showing that anyone can be declared as memorable by anyone.
I think I'll just stick with the original Flintstones. Not a fan of McFarlene's shows.
Why cant people just leave the classics alone. I guess he ran out of dumb shows to come up on his own so now hes moved onto ruining classics. I doubt it will last.

@tendoboy Why are you preaching to the converted? If they don't like it, then they don't like it.
Good point. It's obvious no one here is undecided on whether or not they like Family Guy. It would also appear no one is planning on changing their mind by the end of the conversation.

You could say the same thing about Matt Groening (Simpsons, Futurama), Mike Judge (Beavis and Butthead, King of the Hill), Matt Stone and Trey Parker (South Park), John Kricfalusci (Ren and Stimpy), etc. Everyone has their own tastes. I happen to like all of the shows made by the people I just mentioned (except King of the Hill).

because of money.
Or because maybe he's really a fan of The Flintstones and wanted to revive it for a modern audience? That's the same thing Warner Bros. did with Looney Tunes, Batman, etc.

Ok when did the people you mentioned slaughter a classic like Seth MacFarlane will with Flintstones? I dont see Matt Groening doing a reboot of the Jetsons or Mike Judge doing a Tom and Jerry Reboot.

Serial killers have no right to do what they do. Life devastating actions are taken everyday. Living with them is even more troublesome. Having your sister fall in the shower and crack her head open thus bleeding to death in front of her little brother is tragic. Along with your mother committing suicide by jumping off a 50 foot drop, and killing your own father with a hammer, can really screw someone up.
Going about your life acting "normal" behaving "normal", and being treated as if you are "normal" after these events seems impossible. The Trinity Killer does it quite well. Enough to make even Dexter, a serial killing genius, envious.
As soon as Dexter purposely involves his life into Trinity's he realizes he's not as normal as he portrays himself as. Hindering his children with fear to the point they're brainwashed is the beginning. Beating your son from his silly nilly mistakes and locking your daughter in her room all her life because she's "safe in there" isn't exactly common.
I could spoil it for all of you but I'm not like that. That's probably half of what I could have written about ONE character from Dexter. And yes, comparing Dexter to Family Guy is fair. Well only if you compare the characters. lol

Than rerun the classics on Fox rather than go and get a second rate cartoonist to screw it all up in a "reboot"
