I just found a clip of Seth's new shows

Ok so maybe his shows get a bit too repetitive, but at least American Dad is different in that it parodies government fanatics (Stan Smith and how he takes the CIA way too seriously), alien coverups (Roger living with the family and wearing generic clothes in public to hide his identity, even though you can always see his face), and hippie activists (the daughter).

My only problem with family guy is that while its better than most shows on TV its crap compared to the older material.

So long as it can make me laugh, I'm good. Fortunately American Dad is different enough with Stan's job. Though, many of the episodes do seem like they could be interchangeable between each cartoon.

What? King of the Hill is brilliant, when I was younger I thought the show was boring, but now that I get the subtle jokes it's hysterical. It's like the ultimate satire/parody of America, but at the same time it's an honest representation. The way they've kept that balance is nothing short of genius.

As for the Simpsons it's the Simpsons, yeah some seasons aren't that great, but I'd still wager that their worst seasons are better then Family Guy's worst seasons, and the Simpsons have created enough great episodes that all those bad ones don't even matter.

Can Seth write serious sci-fi?

After all these years, I still can't stand King of the Hill. Of course, at the end of the day, I'm pretty much sick of American humor in general. I haven't laughed out loud at anything on TV besides Futurama in years. It's almost like that's the last good show on TV.

I just read that he wanted to do it, not that he was going to do it.

To be fair, Seth MacFarlane has also voiced characters on Robot Chicken (Lion-O in the Thundercats sketches, and a few other generic characters)

One more thing, Quagmire is a pedophile and a sex pervert. Brian is the complete opposite and a marijuana activist..Completely different characters. I'd rather be Brian than Quagmire.

A) Seth Green does more than 50% of the voices on Robot Chicken actually. If you listen closely you can hear his voice in every other character. Even Lindsey Lohan.

B) I wasn't really comparing the two, I was more pointing out how every character in that show is irrelevant and has no interesting background whatsoever.

Brian is indeed a sex pervert but he just can't accept it. He just naturally goes for the pretty dumb girls and he hates himself for it.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

South Park is great too. Futurama, South Park, and American Dad are the only "adult" cartoons I watch. King of the Hill was incredibly boring, but the new Beavis and Butthead episodes are ok. The new Beavis and Butthead has the exact same terrible animation and stupid juvenile humor that the series is known for, it's like the series never ended (don't know if that's good or bad).

I don't think there is one memorable character on that show. At least American Dad shows some story to the characters rather than revolving around a mentally challenged father who thinks he's smart and right about everything. (Peter Griffin)

How does that make him a pervert. seems healthy to me. He doesn't womanize them and just has a string of failed relationships that are mostly based on sex.

I find Adam west memorable. But that's mainly due to knowing him before hand from the fairly odd parents as a child.

Then you haven't watched the show enough. There's Tom Tucker the news reporter, Ollie the weatherman who screams one-word weather reports, Stewie, Brian, Adam West, Quagmire, Joe the paraplegic, the pirate with pegs for limbs, the Doctor, Mr. Pewterschmit (Lois's dad), Peter's overly-religious (Catholic) father, I could go on.

There are just as many characters on Family Guy as there are on The Simpsons. Both shows have plenty of memorable and generic one-shot characters.

And I know Family Guy was cancelled a few times, but each time it came back because of strong fan demand and DVD sales. And now Seth MacFarlane is under contract with Fox to keep his shows around for at least a few more years. The man is a success, so deal with it.

The Simpsons should have ended years ago. 20 years is long enough for a single series (though I loved the movie). South Park is still good, but that's because Trey and Matt continue to make the show relevant with up-to-date cultural parodies (a single episode is made in about a week, due to it being done completely on computers). With this fast production schedule, the writers can parody recent events and not make it look outdated.
