Today’s question is:
What is your FAVORITE ALBUM and what is your FAVORITE TRACK FROM IT?
@Bizaster My favorite album is a tough call, but I really like "Is This It" by The Strokes. (I've only listened to a couple of their albums though. lol) Mainly because I have a lot of nostalgia for it (my dad is a HUGE music buff) and all the songs are just chill, at least in terms of their compositions. My favorite track is also a tough one - I like all of them but I guess I'll say it's "Someday."

Favorite game: Super Mario 3D World

God I wish I had a more in depth answer to give. I’m more into video game soundtracks but does Queen count? If it does I’m a fan of Queen. My favourite song... it’s quite generic. Bohemian Rhapsody from A Night at the Opera.
@jump I’ve actually just started listening to RATM recently, and I love them. Their debut album is great, I think I’d give it a 9/10.
Blah, it should be 10/10! ;p
They are great, the others albums are really good too. The Battles Of Los Angeles in particular is really good, it’s just filled with hooks.
It’s annoying they canned their reunion last year. I had planned to turn the chance to see them again into a holiday in Paris for a few days and then see them at a festival they were playing was just outside the city.
Another Mutsuhiko Izumi song from DrumMania V3, MODEL FT2 (MODEL FAIRY TALE 2) but this is Miracle version (Extra Hard version)
The title and video looks cute but the drum chart looks extremely insane hard.
@Bizaster
Hi.
Have you checked my references about Rock music from DrumMania ?
Maybe you will get some new experiences about Rock music from video games.
@TheJGG don’t feel bad, Bohemian Rhapsody is a masterpiece. I hate when people make others feel bad for liking popular songs.
Thanks! I struggle a bit determining specific music genres, so I wasn't sure if it fell into rock per se. The lyrics are a story on their own and each section has been burnt into my brain for eternity.
I'm not into mainstream music and it's rare that I find actual music that I like, so it's a fun process, building a small library of music.

That works both ways, have you actually tried the vids posted by others? There’s a lot more “experience” in the vids other people have posted than yours to be honest. Like the one skywake posted of IDLES is a song about commentary on Toxic Masculinity which makes your video game music look shallow in comparison.
@jump
Actually I prefer Rock music from BEMANI games as I'm not really fan of Rock music (I am Eurobeat fan) but some of DrumMania songs are really interesting and unique. I have never heard before a very complex and killer Rock songs like DAY DREAM / MODEL DD series / MODEL Fairy Tale series by Mutsuhiko Izumi or Progressive Rock like The Least 100 Sec / Concertino in Blue by Hirofumi Sasaki.
I'm not even a fan of Western Rock band, that's why I don't play Guitar Hero / Rock Band / LEGO Rock Band.
@Bizaster
Eh ? 😕
How could the Rock musics from DrumMania are not real Rock music ?
There are some DrumMania songs have extended version and the artist who made those songs (Mutsuhiko Izumi) is very talented in Rock music.
He has ever performed his music live in Japan, a medley of his DrumMania musics.
How could Rock music from video games are not technically called real Rock music compared by standard Rock musics that not made for video games ?
What is the differences ?
BTW, have you listen any DrumMania songs I posted here ?
And what do you think about them ?
I posted only DrumMania songs since I only like kind of Rock songs from video games.
Edit: Here is one video of Live performance with his DrumMania song Jet World.
In my opinion, Rock musics can be came from any source, whether they are from standard Rock band or from video games since they are same Rock musics.
@Bizaster Nice - enjoy them! The other album of theirs that I've listened to was Room on Fire, though that was quite recently. There's other bands I dig too, like The Beatles, Ween, and Nirvana.
@Anti-Matter I love video game music as well, but Bizaster's asking what rock album(s) and song(s) that are your favorites. That is, songs that are original and weren't made for any games in mind. Music and games are considered their own separate categories, which is why we mention stuff like Guns 'n Roses instead of say, music from Sonic or Mega Man games. Also, didn't you say that you're not a rock person to begin with?

@MarioLover92
Oh... I see. 😯
I was misunderstood about the rock musics from actual band and from video games.
@Bizaster
Oh, before that I thought my references about DrumMania songs will be categorized as same Rock songs as from actual rock band. 😕
I didn't know if rock songs from video games are different category as rock songs from actual band.
BTW, there are some actual slow rock songs that I have little interest about that has been featured on video games as cover licensed songs and I prefer the cover version than the original version for those certain songs.
What do you think about this cover version of Robinson by TDK design Inc ?
Oh, also I have interest with this Rock song from actual Rock band Vanilla Ninja that this song has been featured on DrumMania V. Liar by Vanilla Ninja on DrumMania V.
Can this song counted as actual Rock song too ? ☝
I was them support Muse a few years ago and they were really good but when I try listening to them at home it has to be short doses as they are too pop for me.
While I agree with @Anti-Matter that "rock music" can be from any source (and I enjoyed Concertino in Blue!), the topic by @Bizaster is more specific on rock songs written by/for rock groups for the music itself, not for another entertainement such as videogames or movies.
Oh and @jump , I would avoid using lyrics as a comparison to what is "superior", etc. It is indeed nice to have songs about current problems, for sure! But songs can be just about anything, and what about amazing instrumental songs? Would a song against racism be better than a song about kicking everyone you see in front of you, by the lyrics alone? It's just a matter of personal liking.
So, about the topic itself: I don't listen to Grunge, just not my style. I've been listening to Hard Rock a lot recently! Mötley Crüe, Guns 'n Roses, Van Halen, Tesla, Whitesnake, Skid Row, Boston, Warrant... There is something in that 80s music that gives me energy, songs about enjoying life, having a nice girl etc etc hahahahaha
