I had a job working in a classic Movie Theater until it shut down at the end of February. I've been looking for a new one ever since. I actually have an interview tomorrow.

This. Getting a job where I live is... well lets say, you are the luckiest man alive if you can get a job where I live. Absolutely no one is hiring for crap...

I've gone for interviews and because I don't have experience yet, since I'm only 17, my chances of getting a job compared to dudes in their 30s is slim to none. Thankfully I get paid £30 a week for staying in education at College, unfortunately the government are going to cut it to £20 or completely get rid of it. And to you Americans... yes, I am getting paid to go to college

Hear that, I've been temping for the better part of a year now. Can't find anything permanent. Better than nothing, but I can't really move forward in my life like I'd like (getting my own place, going on vacations - have lots of free time, but I can't go anywhere cuz I'm broke/need to be around in case a job comes through, etc.) without a stable source of income.

I see. All the Americans I talk to are gob smacked that I get paid to go college and they have to pay to go to college. :3 I guess it's different in different parts of the states? _{you're so bloody big it's ridiculous... and its not just the country...}

i think i've got you confused — what i'm talking about is scholarships and grants. using those, plenty of people in the US get free tuition, housing, etc. and so forth... the government isn't paying (unless it's a gov't-sponsored program, of course).

if your tuition/housing/food/etc. costs are less than the money you're provided via scholarship or grant, you're left with a surplus. happens all the time. i don't see how that part is so hard to understand.
