Black action heroes are much more common than black female love interests.

It'd be quite nice to see a black or brown Mary Jane.

A hispanic Mary Jane would be quite nice. I'd also like to see more Eastern Indian female characters in comic and television. As for black super heroines I think that Storm is as good as it gets! Storm is PREMIUM material!

I like SpiderGirl better than Spiderman himself. Every time I go to the book store I read her comics, hopefully they will make a movie about her.

OMG, he is black! You guys seem have a thriving interest in black superheros. As someone who is black, I could honestly care less. But, hey, I guess I am all for diversity.

Haha, yes. They call themselves the "Super Buddies" (a take off of the Super Friends show from yesteryear) and their antics are HILARIOUS. I HIGHLY recommend trying to track down a copy of their adventures. The team is a knock-off Justice League consisting of Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Power Girl, Mary Marvel, Fire, Elastic Man and Green Lantern/ galactic jackwad, Guy Gardner. Brilliantly written. Seriously, you should all look it up.

I... @#$%^&*... Love... Spider-Girl. The Anya Corazon Spider-Girl, not that Peter Parker with boobs Mayday. Anya was the best book in the stores. There was no debate about it. I can only hope writer Paul Tobin brings the same level of awesomeness to her Spider-Island mini-series.

And the main Marvel universe Spider-Man AND Mary Jane BOTH died already... with One More Day and One Moment In Time.

I think I will start asking Marvel to make a movie about Spider-Girl Anya. Also better start looking for a actress who can play her roll and look like her

BTW I just think its very interesting to see a Black Spider-man, I mean I am partly African American but its kind of a shocker, the only thing I would want to see in Spiderman is Pres Obama, that's about it for me. BTW I think he has been in some of the comics already.

Spider-Girl will never have a movie in this decade. There is just to much bias against women which is the same reason that we haven't had a Wonder Woman movie or a Batgirl movie. The entertainment media industry only sees women as sex icons and nothing else really.

However on a lighter note, the field is slowing becoming level thanks to Sarah Palin and Michelle Obama blazing a new trail for women in our society. Expect a new Tomb Raider before a Spider Woman movie.

No matter what female leaders do to try to encourage women to be accepted in our society the media, most especially the entertainment media will never truly acknowledge the female figure as a figure that can stand on her own two legs. You probably won't see a descent Wonder Woman or Batwoman movie for a couple of years although DC Comics is moving to promote those characters but in the way of Marvel Comics you'll NEVER EVER see a Spider Woman movie for YEARS and I can guarantee that one.

Yes, with Angelina Jolie. However, there is a new Tomb Raider movie in the works. Expect it sometime in 2013 or 2014. I think it's going to be better than the first three. It's not supposed to be all sexed up either. They say it's going to be more like Indiana Jones from what I've read and heard. Lara Croft is also going to be younger, around 16 or 17.

At any rate, the real problem there is not the public's perception of women as incapable or anything of the sort. The real issue is sales figures. How does Spider-Girl sell compared to Spiderman? Batgirl/Batwoman in comparison to the freaking Batman? Supergirl/Powergirl vs. the Man of Tomorrow?

This is like me complaining that they used Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern movie instead of Guy Gardner, or that they opted to make a Captain America movie instead of U.S.Agent. Those characters just don't bring in the same revenue/aren't as popular as their counterparts.

There will not be a Spider-Girl movie. I love Spider-Girl as well (both Mayday and Anya) but sadly, her comics just don't sell well at all (which is why her recent series was cancelled at just 8 issues).
