Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land are sure to rake in some money so i'm sure they'll pull through.

It's almost hard not to think that they'll bounce back. With Super Mario 3D Land, Pokemon Rumble Blast, Mariokart 7, Skyward Sword, and other great 3rd party titles on the way for BOTH of their current platforms, this Holiday season is almost a sure-fire hit. It's almost impossible that they'll make a billion dollars back, but this may be the bit of motivation Nintendo needs to be the champion in console sales again since 2009, with the Wii, I believe? Correct me if I'm wrong.

i do like that logic can still exist in this world
You do realize that the Loss is due to The strength og the Yen over the euro and has nothing to do with the games right? Even then Transtion periods between console's are usally hard and they have two going on at the same time.
They have around 6 billion in pure cash beyond the profits they make. Its been said it would take at least 3 PS3 size losses to sink nintendo.
WAT!

Looks like Nintendo is standing on its last leg. If Nintendo falls, whos gonna make Sony and Microsoft look good? I guess its time for the fat plummer to sing!
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
I have a 3DS and love it. It's the best handheld that Nintendo has ever made, a culmination of all their previous efforts. The Virtual Console, DSiWare, DS games, and 3DS software all on one device? Bliss.
Yes I know I sound like a fanboy. Haters gonna hate.

Oh come on. Nintendo's been through far worse.
Virtual Boy
N64's poor sales and lack of 3rd-party support, and waiting MONTHS to get any decent games
GameCube's poor sales and lack of 3rd-party support, and the plethora of rushed ports
And can't Nintendo make up for this "Yen to Euro loss" by selling well in Japan?
I'm not really surprised. Nintendo is finally stepping down from the buckets of gold that the Wii has brought them, so its basically inevitable that they won't gain as much money as before. But 1 billion is a pretty big number regardless.

Resisting urge to bash head against wall
Virtual Boy. Nintendo had other consoles selling well. N64. Ninendo had other consoles selling well. Gamecube. Nintendo had other console selling well.
3DS. OH %$&#$()&#) WHERE'S THE OTHER CONSOLE?!?!
See the problem?
As for your ridiculous other point. Yes. Nintendo could alleviate its problems by selling well in Japan. Except the for the first time ever, Nintendo dropped out of #1 publisher in Japan (Bandai Namco took over).
Except that Japan is is a woeful economic environment. Except that Japan has the second worst debt problem IN THE WORLD, and the only country worse off there is friggen' Zimbabwe. Except that Nintendo runs a business at a scale that doing well in just one region won't be enough. Except that Nintendo has some very disgruntled shareholders now, that can ruin a business, and doing well in one region won't magically make them happy.
Do I really need to go through a whole lecture, yet again, about how people who don't understand business and believe Wikipedia is a reliable source of information should refrain from posting an attempt at business analysis?
Just the media (like Gamespot) exagerrates the situation. It's bad, yes, but doom-worthy? Unlikely.
That's because the number of games journalists out there who are qualified to write stories, let alone analyse, business you can count on one hand.
Seriously. Business journalists come out of business degrees at university. They don't come out of high school with 1000 hours logged on Call of Duty, which is where games journalism pulls its "talent" from.
Virtual Boy was not one of their main consoles. N64 and Gamecube era Nintendo still had portables doing well.
This is the first time I can think of when Nintendo's underwhelming in both console and handheld areas, as far as general public perception that is.
That said, I have no idea how significant this particular loss is, nor do I particularly care. Maybe it'll motivate them to make more games. That would be fun.
