We're both medically retired so I don't know what to buy for entertainment. Let's start with this question. Hubby is a sports fanatic, me not so much but we need something to do together. He most likely will have back surgery in the next few months! We would LOVE to hear your suggestions at our late stage of life with physical challenges. If you're a moderator please email me.

@Retired Well if you're new to Switch and looking to keep active, definitely get Ring Fit Adventure. You can tailor the activities and intensity to suit your requirements.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

@Retired I'm not clear on what you're looking for. Do you want games with motion control & physical activity, or are you trying to stay away from games with physical activity?

Switch Sports has bowling, which uses motion controls and is very good. It also has multiplayer. It's basically just like Wii bowling was (which is a good thing), but with improved visuals.

Since the Switch is late in it's life cycle, that means games go on sale more often, and get bigger discounts. The dekudeals website is a great price tracker site for Switch games. Look up whatever game you want, to see if it's on sale somewhere, and you can see it's price history graph to see how often it goes on sale. https://www.dekudeals.com/

Otherwise, as far as recommending games, I'm not clear if you've played video games before or not.

If you want more simple, casual friendly games, I play Spot the Differences Party! whenever family visits. Sometimes a crossword game.

As far as sports games go for your husband I'll mention Rocket League. It's soccer with rocket powered cars. It's a game that has to be tried to be understood, but it not hard to pickup & understand. It's free to play, but it will ask for an email address to make an account the first time you boot up. The email address is only for your game save data, you won't get spammed. (I think you can skip making an account & giving your email if you press B. I can't remember.)

Rocket League is commonly played online against other people in 3 vs 3 mode, also has hockey puck mode called Snow Day. Rocket League can also be played offline against bots, or splitscreen two player. While it does have in-game purchases for customizations, they aren't needed & don't give you any advantage. It's a purely skill based game. (The game has a tutorial to teach the controls.)

*Note: If you want to get matched with players of similar skill, play the Competitive mode. Otherwise, casual mode can pepper in some high skilled players. This can be intimidating, but can also let you see what's possible in the game.

If you or your husband has had a game console in the past, you may want to look up a review for Mario Odyssey.

Or, if you're curious about any game, you can search youtube for the game + switch review. Most all popular games have video reviews. example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9nnQY4-6d8

@WoomyNNYes Thanks, I'm learning more every day. We've decided to go to Best Buy a few times to educate ourselves. We want a new tv, sound bar and gaming all delivered, set up, and installed.

That's something BestBuy would most likely do for you and game studio setup as well.

If you’re looking for more of a puzzle/simple game I’d try Captain Toad Treasure Tracker or Yoshi’s Wooly World. Wooly World has a demo you can play and download for free. Animal Crossing’s also a great simple, calm game if you’re looking for that.

Just like WoomyNNYes suggested, Switch Sports is definitely a great game if you’re looking to be active but not too hard-core. My Grandpa loves the bowling on there and he always plays when he comes over, lol. Same with Ring Fit, he always makes us do a “competition” to see who can do it the fastest.

Here’s a list of free demos on switch if you’re interested.

Happy Gaming!!

Thank you all for responding! I'm sorry SmashBall35 I don't know how to tag you...unless you were here playing the kid game Tag Your It.
