@StewdaMegaManNerd probably. It’s the last Ice Age movie I have to watch so far before 6 releases, just been watching them for fun…sucks that one was bad, because I like Buck a lot.

watching the last 20 minutes of old 1980s movie Tank on Netflix.

I sort of remember that movie when it was on HBO a few times back in the day. That and the old sci fi drama movie Iceman.

Netflix had Iceman like last year or so but they took it off of Netflix. i was hoping to watch that movie. Been a long long time since i saw that old Iceman movie

Saw The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, to finish off my binge-watch of the Ice Age movies…this was really, really bad. Maybe the worst out of all the Ice Age movies.

In this spin-off, Crash and Eddie attempt to become more independent, but accidentally fall back into the dino land but are saved by Buck, who has been trying to protect the lost world from a super smart dinosaur wanting to rule the place.

This movie’s animation is such a gigantic downgrade from the mainline movies. It looks cheap and less detailed and smooth. Usually the Ice Age movies get better animation-wise, but this one does not look good, but there is a reason for that. The film was not animated by Blue Sky, and instead by another studio, and while a change in studio can sometimes improve a film, it didn’t this time. The details are gone, the lighting is terrible, and the character designs and models are butchered from the downgraded animation, while the environments and landscapes in the film are way less visually stunning and flatter.

The characters are not good either. Although it’s supposed to be centered on Buck, most of the film is centered on Crash and Eddie, who come of as super annoying in this one compared to how they were in the main films, so Buck gets less screentime than the two, which sucks because I liked Buck a lot in the movies. Zee was kind of a flat character, and Orson was an extremely unfunny and awful villain; he’s bossy but comes off as super childish, lame, not intimidating, and badly written, and whatever comes out of his mouth is so cringeworthy and cliche. The original main group is in the film for some parts, and while it was cool that they brought back the mother dino from Dawn of the Dinosaurs to help them, she doesn’t really do anything until the final battle and is kind of missing in action for a lot of the film, mainly because when she’s first introduced, she has a toothache that Buck fixes and then she literally gets knocked out with this explosive gas berry they throw into her mouth a few seconds later.

The jokes are bad too. Compared to all the Ice Age movies, this one is the most unfunny. Usually, I find a few of the Ice Age movies have maybe one or two funny jokes, but this had none. A lot of overdone jokes…there was this scene early in the film with Crash and Eddie imagining themselves as independent and wearing golden chains and caps, set to this lyrically awful song that made me cringe, and I especially hated the fart humor with Zee’s skunk gas, though most of the unfunny jokes also come from Orson. The film is also cliched too, and has a ton of overdone tropes and twists and no memorability or character arcs for its characters.

Just a bad and disappointing spin-off film. A fun fact, but this was originally being developed as a TV series animated by Blue Sky, and if I’m being honest, that probably would have turned out better and been more fitting than this. Yeah, they stopped caring about the writing in the main Ice Age films starting with the fourth one and exchanged it for wacky hijinks and cliches, but they could have actually put in some more real effort into a Buck spin-off than the studio they got for this one. Just wasted potential for an extremely enjoyable and entertaining character…

@Bigmanfan I saw Mickey 17 at the weekend and really enjoyed it - The screening was pretty busy compared to recent stuff I've been to as well. Novocaine isn't out here in the UK for another week or so I think, but it seems to be getting pushed pretty hard in terms of how many times I've seen the trailer now. Black Bag is the opposite - I haven't seen a single trailer, so I'm not surprised nobody is going to see it. I'll likely go see Novocaine when it comes out here, but I suspect Black Bag isn't going to be around when I actually have time to go see it.

@dmcc0 Nice. Glad you enjoyed it! My screening was not as busy for sure. I think there were only 2 other people in the theater lol. Pretty similar story for Novocaine unfortunately. But yeah, neither movie is doing very well financially sadly. Mickey 17 had an over 100 million dollar production budget, which once you factor in marketing and theater cuts it has basically zero chance to make back. But yeah, great movie for sure. And you should definitely give Novocaine a watch, it's super fun.

@OctolingKing13 I know I'm in the minority here, but I am 100% sold on the idea of RDJ as Dr. Doom. He's a fantastic actor, and always puts in a ton of effort. What concerns me is the number of characters. It feels like it could be hard to tell a coherent story with this many characters, but we shall see. Also, there's no way this is everybody. There's no way Spiderman isn't in this movie.

@Bigmanfan ill deffo agree he is a fantastic actor. yeah thats really odd, especially since SM4 is in between the avengers movies 😥

I chose to rewatch the first Ice Age after seeing all of its sequels, and I agree with people that the first film is maybe the best out of the following films.

I’ll keep it short, but it’s way funnier than it’s sequels, I liked the dynamic and interactions between the main trio and the human baby, and the film actually felt way more emotional and better written than the dozens of sequels that followed. While not an extremely deep or thought-provoking film I’d say, I do like how the writers tried to give the characters depth and development (especially with Manny and Diego) throughout the film, especially since the later films kind of don’t do that again for any of their characters and make almost all of them cliched or flat. Pretty decent, and loads better than the following sequels.

I found the official poster of Wicked: For Good this 21 November 2025.
Untitled

Can't wait to see the funny catfight of Glinda and Elphaba, Nessarose got squised by Dorothy's house, the actual Dorothy landed on Oz land, the melting scene of Elphaba (hopefully not the shadow version like the Broadway musical).

Black Bag...is a bit hard to talk about. I will say that if you liked Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy then you'll like it.

To be a bit more specific, I will say that the...final bit where everything is explained? I felt I only understood about 50% of it.

That was my takeaway from Tinker Tailor too. But I was 100% lost in that one.

Man I'll tell you what, it's been a pretty depressing day (for reasons that I probably shouldn't get into on this thread) but at least it had one highlight. I went to see the Minecraft movie and it was a delight. It was incredibly stupid in the best way possible. It really was the movie I needed the most today, that's for sure.

@Bigmanfan Did you see an unfinished cut? Apparently versions of the film without finished effects are being distributed in some theaters.

@N00BiSH I don't think so. There were some shots that looked bad, but I was genuinely shocked with how pleasant the movie was on the eyes most of the time tbh.

That new Tron Ares trailer is fire (literally).

I love this franchise. Although it makes me sad Disney are going with a reboot rather than a sequel.

Jared Leto feels like a sink-or-swim casting choice. Will we get Blade Runner 2049 or Morbius?
